Have Muslim Extremists Infiltrated the Government?

Fox News is reporting that Rep. Sue Myrick of North Carolina, and three other lawmakers are investigating whether the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a U.S. non-profit Muslim activist group associated with Islamist terrorist groups such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, has placed their operatives as interns on the staffs of members of targeted national security-related Congressional committees, including the Intelligence, Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees.
Rep. Sue Myrick: It’s frightening to think that an organization with clear-cut ties to terrorism could have a hand in influencing policy — especially national security policy — within our government. The investigations that we’re asking for are simple, and I’m hopeful that they will bring to light any and all information regarding the goals of CAIR.
CAIR, which claims to be a civil rights organization, is classified as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, tax-deductible charity under Internal Revenue Service designations, and as such, the group does not pay taxes and is allowed to deduct its contributions. Its real motives appear not to be so benign. CAIR’s own internal memos point to an organization which exercises an extensive, highly aggressive lobbying operation which attempts to directly influence policy outcomes, which would put the organization in direct violation of their non-profit, tax exempt status.
In 2008, CAIR was named as a co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism case in Dallas, Texas, which led to guilty verdicts on 108 charges based on funneling more than $12 million to HAMAS. Later that same year, the FBI cut all ties with CAIR (see previous NewsrealBlog CAIR related posts here).
So what exactly is CAIR’s goal in trying to put its spies on the various committees? According to the authors of a new book titled Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America, by Paul Sperry and Paul David Gaubatz, the ultimate goal is no less that the destruction of Western civilization itself.
In a six-month undercover sting operation of the group, Sperry and Gaubatz claim that CAIR is linked to an organized crime network made up of more than 100 other Muslim front groups all falling under the umbrella of the “U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.” The book’s charges are deemed serious enough for Myrick and the other lawmakers (Trent Franks of Arizona, Paul Broun of Georgia and John Shadegg of Arizona) to request the CAIR probe.
Trent Franks: “I take the charges levied against CAIR and laid out in this book very seriously because they affect our national security. This Congress must be deliberate in taking a strong stance against those groups and organizations that align themselves with terrorists. We live in a post-9/11 world where the coincidence of nuclear proliferation and Islamic terrorism pose a very dangerous combination and real threat to America’s national security. That is why it is critical, in light of the well-supported documents and information, that the U.S. Congress take this issue seriously.
CAIR, for its part, dismisses the allegations of government infiltration.
“If it wasn’t so insidious, it would be laughable,” CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper told FOXNews.com. “What are their charges? CAIR seeks political participation of Muslims. I’m shocked.”
Hooper went on to accuse the Republican representatives of being “Muslim bashers,” aiming to exclude Muslims from the political process.
Ibrahim Hooper: God forbid American Muslims take part in the political process and exercise their rights…If these people weren’t so hate-filled, it would be laughable, but unfortunately they have an audience and, given their positions, it’s going to get picked up by the hate blogs.
The “hate blogs” just might pick up this story eventually. In the meantime, you heard it here first.
