It’s My Healthcare! My Own! My Precious!

“Precious, precious, precious!” Gollum cried. “My Precious! O my Precious!”
And with that, even as his eyes were lifted up to gloat on his prize,
he stepped too far, toppled, wavered for a moment on the brink,
and then with a shriek he fell.
Out of the depths came his last wail Precious, and he was gone.
President Obama finally admitted at his December 15 press conference:
“We are on the precipice of major health care changes, though there are still some differences that have to be worked on.”
prec·i·pice (prs-ps) n.
1. An overhanging or extremely steep mass of rock, such as a crag or the face of a cliff.
2. The brink of a dangerous or disastrous situation: on the precipice of defeat.
I would pay big money to have someone ask the Oracle, Mr. Gibbs, why the President was so jubilant at the prospect of 300 million people following him over the edge into a precipice. I suppose such an event would “radically transform” the country.
Perhaps I’ll just send a dictionary to the President for Christmas.
