Some noteworthy facts about Jesse Jackson:

In September the legendary activist Jesse Jackson criticized [2] Congress for de-funding the notoriously corrupt ACORN [3], in the wake of revelations about that organization’s involvement in corruption of the highest magnitude. More recently he said [4],“You can’t vote against [government-run] healthcare and call yourself a black man.”

Jackson has long been in the vanguard of political and social activism in the United States.  Over the years, he has repeatedly threatened businesses and corporations with boycotts, racially biased criticism, and (implicitly) outright violence, if they refused to yield to his demands (for “racial justice”) and to enrich him or his organizations.

Professing to detect racism in virtually every sector of American society, Jackson has lamented “the corporate lockout” which he says has kept blacks “out” of so many professions and industries. He has likened the former apartheid regime of South Africa to the allegedly intractable discrimination that persists against blacks in “South Carolina.”

When California voters passed Proposition 209, which eliminated racial preferences from the admissions policies of the state’s university system, Jackson charged that California schools were “cleansing” themselves of black students.

Similarly, when the Supreme Court ruled that gerrymandered voting districts (which were drawn on racial rather than geographic lines so as to virtually guarantee the electoral victories of minority candidates therein) were unconstitutional, Jackson predicted that the Court’s decision (which mandated the redrawing of the districts on geographic lines) would cause “a kind of ethnic cleansing” in Congress.

Jackson had trumpeted this same theme as a guest speaker at Louis Farrakhan [5]‘s Million Man March in Washington, DC.  “Now we have the burden of two Americas: one-half slave and one-half free,” he said. Explaining that blacks were “yearning to breathe free,” he exhorted those in attendance to break out of their “shackles” because no one would “free” them voluntarily. “Slave masters never retire,” he said. “Oppressors never retire.”

A longtime admirer of former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro [6], Jackson once said [7]: “Viva Fidel! Viva Che [Guevara] [8]! Castro is the most honest and courageous politician I’ve ever met.”
