Keith Olbermann – MSNBC’s Bobblehead

The photo above is of a “Keith Olbermann Bobblehead” figure being sold through NBC’s online store.
Probably not by design, but “Bobblehead” is the perfect name for Olbermann and his show since he bobbles just about everything that comes out of his mouth. And some of the time his bobbles result from the propaganda that the Obama White House is feeding him and that he dutifully regurgitates.
For example, Olbermann branded Tom Donahue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as the “worst person in the world” on one of his shows recently for supposedly lying about the membership size of the Chamber. It seems that Olbermann, using the far-left Mother Jones magazine as his source, accused Donahue of inflating the Chamber’s membership numbers. Olbermann, without a bit of fact-checking apart from Mother Jones, made this accusation along with claims that the Chamber of Commerce opposes just about everything that would be constructive for the country. In Olbermann’s bobble head, constructive means supporting Obama’s policies lock, stock and barrel.
Olbermann is evidently taking his cue from the Obama White House to smear the Chamber of Commerce for daring to point out flaws in Obama’s proposals ranging from his cap-and-trade energy policy (a disguised energy tax bill) to Obamacare.
If Olbermann had done just a wee bit of research, he would have come upon the following in a Wall Street Journal article that appeared six days before the Mother Jones article that Olbermann cited:
Mr. Donohue said his group, which claims 300,000 members, supported efforts to fight climate change through federal investments and incentives to develop alternative forms of energy that can be produced without emitting carbon dioxide.
Donahue had explained during a press conference, held a day before the Wall Street Journal article appeared, the relevance of the 3 million federation membership number and how the Chamber used it in comparison with the much smaller figure of 300,000 direct paid members - a distinction that Olbermann and Mother Jones are too obtuse to understand:
You have a lot of turnover when you have 300,000 members and they sit on top of a federation of three million members through our state and local chambers and associations.
Olbermann also fails to grasp that being opposed to a particular way of solving a problem such as global warming does not automatically mean that one is opposed to solving the problem at all. Again, Olbermann should have read the Wall Street Journal article in addition to Mother Jones but that would be too much to expect from a bobblehead:
Mr. Donohue said his group was “for federal legislation to control and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions,” but that it believed a proposal approved by the House of Representatives in June to cut U.S. emissions 17% beneath 2005 levels by 2020 was flawed. That measure would “significantly raise energy prices, throw more American out of work” and potentially put U.S. companies at a disadvantage to competitors in countries that do not limit emissions, such as China, he said.
The point that Olbermann and his puppet masters at the White House are trying to make is that the Chamber of Commerce is not representative of the business community and, therefore, its views are not worthy of consideration. It is analogous to the attempt by the White House to marginalize Fox News by claiming that it is not a real news organization, a point that Keith Olbermann repeats on his website with the bogus claim that MSNBC is the number #1 cable news station:
With Fox News exposed as a political advocacy organization and not a news channel, that leaves msnbc as the #1 most watched news channel on cable.
I suggest a new line of Keith Olbermann figures that NBC could sell – the Keith Olbermann Bubblehead.
