A Mendacious Interview: Obama Speaks to Israelis

“The Holy Koran tells us: ‘Be conscious of God and speak always the truth.’ That is what I will try to do – to speak the truth.”

Barack Obama, Cairo, June 4, 2009

Everybody knows that most politicians are liars. And politicians with legal education are, more often than not, double-liars. And if these lawyer-politicians were educated at Harvard, at all places, they are – pretty much by definition –  triple-liars.

Following this reasoning to its logical conclusion, I (correctly) expected our Harvard-educated lawyer-president in his first interview to an Israeli TV channel to lie at least three or four times - which is pretty much his average quota in almost every speech on any subject.

But the transcripts of the Obama’s interview contained not just a couple of his usual prevarications; no, the whole interview was one uninterrupted torrent of false declarations, deceptive prognoses, and deliberate misstatements.

Space considerations do not allow me to analyze all of the president’s lies. Following are the most mendacious quotes from the transcripts of that interview:

On the Palestinian side, moderates like Abu Mazen and Fayyad are, I think, willing to make the concessions and engage in negotiations that can result in peace.

First, both Palestinians mentioned by Obama are not moderates. (Maybe, compared to the bloodthirsty Yasser Arafat and Saddam Hussein, they seem to be slightly on the moderate side). Read, for instance, what the “moderate” statesman Abu Mazen had written in his slanderous doctoral dissertation titled Relations between Zionism and Nazism: “The Zionist movement led a broad campaign of incitement against the Jews living under Nazi rule to arouse the [Nazi’s] hatred of them, to fuel vengeance against them, and to expand the mass extermination [of Jews].”
