On June 19, the Central Florida website cfnews13.com reported this new development in the long and especially troubling saga of the Barack Obama cult of personality:
On Friday, Orlando leaders made President Barack Obama Parkway the first road under construction in the nation, named after our 44th President, and surely one of the few in history to be named after a sitting president in his first term.
Dough Powers wrote sarcastically at Michelle Malkin’s Blog on June 19:
I’m only guessing that, when it’s completed, Pres. Barack Obama Parkway in Orlando, Florida, will lead straight to the Magic Kingdom.
I’m afraid that no roadways of the Obama presidency will lead to any magic kingdoms all at; all of them will end, figuratively speaking, in a big, deep and smelly swamp. History shows that this is the destiny of all egomaniac politicians wallowing in a cult of personality (they created themselves).
It should be noted that the Orlando parkway will be the sixth road named (or renamed) after our God-like president by officials, severely infected with the Obama virus. The others are:
- Barack Obama Avenue, Opalocka, Florida. City commission approved the renaming of Perviz Avenue, effective February 2009.
- Barack Obama Boulevard, West Park, Florida. City commission approved the renaming of SW 40th Ave, effective July 2009.
- Pembroke Park Road, Hollywood, Florida. The road has been proposed to be renamed Barack Obama Boulevard.
- Delmar Boulevard, St.Louis, Missouri will be renamed Barack Obama Boulevard.
- The Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera Street, in the City of Naquera, in the Spanish province of Valencia, will become Calle Barack Obama.
But it’s not just streets and boulevards that display (or would proudly display in the near future) the name of our Messiah; there’s also an impressive list of schools and academies in Kenya, California, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, bearing the name of “The One”.
Even a mountain in a faraway country couldn’t avoid the contagious glory of our 44th President: the Boggy Peak in the island of Antigua was renamed Mount Obama on August 4th, 2009.
Never before in its history has the United States known anything like this madness of worshipping a sitting president who has not, in fact, accomplished anything yet. When I lived in the former Soviet Union, where the cult of personality of Communist leaders was ubiquitous, I couldn’t imagine even for a moment that I would witness this disgusting orgy of mass deification in America.
Still, it seems to me there is a certain geographical spot in America that rightfully deserves to be renamed in honor of President Obama: the peoples of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida, who for two months have witnessed the utter ineptness of the Obama Administration, should change the name of the oil-saturated Gulf of Mexico into “Barack Obama’s Great Swamp.” Obama certainly has deserved that.
That’s where the road of the cult of the Obama presidency, metaphorically speaking, will finally end – in the big, deep swamp of history.
