Patty Murray: Democratic Dummy

Pages: 1 2

No liberal has standing to call any Republican stupid as long as Patty Murray remains in the U.S. Senate.

Soon after being elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992, Murray went on a radio show and said:

“When I was growing up, the big fear in my life was the nuclear war. I remember second- and third-grade teachers giving us skills to deal with it, if that big alarm goes off, which was ‘Hide under your desk.’ Would that do any good? I don’t know. But as a child, that gives you a feeling there’s something to do beyond panic. Today the biggest fear our kids live with is whether … the kid beside them has a gun. We have to give them skills so they feel confident to deal with it.”

The woman is not sure if ducking under a school desk would help in a nuclear attack. Not only that, but she wants to do something similarly pointless to help children “deal with” school shootings. Maybe imaginary bullet-proof vests!

With amazing understatement, one of Murray’s Democratic colleagues in the state senate told The Seattle Times in 1992: “She just doesn’t strike you as somebody who’s been reading The New York Times every day for the past five years.” I wonder when Katie Couric is going to ask Murray what newspapers she reads.

After Murray was elected to the U.S. Senate, the Democrats tried to keep her locked in her office to prevent her from saying anything that might end up in a newspaper. But in the confusion after the 9/11 attack, the leadership must have lost the keys and Murray escaped to say this about Osama bin Laden:

“He’s been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day-care facilities, building health-care facilities, and the people are extremely grateful. He’s made their lives better.”

Yes, Osama was out building “day-care facilities” — and probably sponsoring “Bring Your Daughter to Work” days! I defy anyone to produce something stupider ever uttered by a homo sapiens. Not Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden or even John Edwards can hold their dimly lit candles to her.

Murray, whose college major was “recreation,” got her start in politics fighting to save her own useless government job.

The laughably apocryphal story she tells is that she was told by some crusty old male politician — still unnamed decades later: “You’re just a mom in tennis shoes — you can’t make a difference!” (You know how politicians love gratuitously insulting their constituents.)

This stuck in Murray’s craw and so, filled with righteous anger, she ran for state office and won as a “mom in tennis shoes.”

The real story is that Murray was teaching a “parenting” class at a community college, which no one was taking, so the state decided to cut it. Murray’s reaction was, “Wait — I’m a public employee! You have no right to fire me!”

Uh. No. That should read Patty Murray (D-WA) not VA. Yes she's stupid, but so is the fact checker on this article. If you want to talk about a stupid person, at least try and not look stupid yourself.

    • Wideband

Uh. Where? Nowhere in the article is she referred to as (D-VA). Yes she's stupid, but you appear crazy for referencing something that isn't there. If you want to talk about a stupid person, at least try and not look stupid yourself.

    • proxywar

Seriously what the hell are you talking about?

      • 911Infidel

LOL. The original title of the article had the words "Patty Murray (D-Va)" in it. Apparently the editors got my message.

      • 911Infidel

Go to Google and type in "Patty Murray (D-Va): The stupidest person in America frontpage" and you'll get a link to this article. That was the original title of this piece
        that I was commenting on.

I think they call those typos. Happens sometimes when people write for a living. A smart person might have realized that before posting a petty attack.

      • 911Infidel

Petty attack? Hardly. The editors paid attention and did the right thing by changing the title of the piece. Better the criticism come from an ally than from an enemy.

        • Lustmorde

I just get weary of name calling (or implying it) unjustifiably. And I apologize because I realized I just did the same thing to you.

Anyway, I was just saying maybe calling the fact-checker stupid was a bit over the top, especially when in reference to an ally.

As the oldsaying goes: As iron sharpens iron, faithful are the wounds of a friend.

I hope Ms. Coulter takes on the alleged 'non-profit' organizations that survive on public dollars feigning good works while it appears the most impressive work they do is skim off high salaries for themselves…

  • Yezhov

Besides having some entertainment value, the benighted Murray has some miniscule utility in that she raises the egos of all the other senators a notch. Also remember her hubby's union links!

  • BS77

Californians, vote for Carly Fiorina to replace Barbara Boxer, the Brooklyn ultra liberal.
    FIORINA for Senate!!!

    • QSuzy

Not so fast. I suggest you read what conservative Orange County, CA rabbis have to say about Fiorina, not that they like Boxer either but they say Fiorina is more dangerous because she still thinks Islam is a wonderful religion, loves the mullahs of Iran so much that when she was CEO of HP, she was doing lots of business deals with them even after the State Dept gave her warnings……google it.

      • Plav

What about Joe Biden. I think he's the dumbest Senator at least in my lifetime.

  • crypticguise

Patty Murray is incredibly stupid. But the Democrats have a rogue's gallery of stupidity of their members. Perhaps the voters in Washington have decided they don't want to be represented by a clown. Then again, maybe not.

  • Reason_For_Life

Patty Murray is quite possibly the dumbest person to ever sit in the Senate (which is saying a lot). However, what does that tell you about her opponent who began his campaign with a two point advantage over her and after hundreds of milquetoast ads has managed to climb all the way up to a seven point disadvantage?

Dino Rossi is the quintessential Republican, a boring drone with nothing to say worth hearing. I'm sure that every night Patty Murray clasps her hands together (if she can master the difficult task of alternating her fingers to make them fit into the spaces) and thanks God for Dino Rossi.

For those of you in states with an actual choice like Alaska, Delaware and Kentucky – Don't blow your chance. If you go down we all go down.

Here in the pacific northwest all we can do is hope that other people have more sense than we do.

  • jemc50

It is hard to believe that the state that sent Henry Jackson and Warren Magnuson to DC, now is represented by Patty Murray.

  • bornagainpagan

I always thought Ron Wyden of Oregon was the dumbest senator until Patty Murray dethroned him. Now everyone is forgetting about that other mensa candidate, Al Franken of Minnesota. He and Murray are right up there primarily to make all the other Democrats look like geniuses. If all the cemetaries dwellers in Seattle stay put, then Rossi will have a chance to rid Washington of this DNC puppet and leave that dangerous task to Franken.

Gosh darn, can I say I love Ann without anyone thinking I'm stalking? You have to admit she does have a great sense of humour. She can put down someone without resorting to ahh, let's say..Grayson's methods. If any of it is untrue, Patty, you have the floor….chirp, chirp.

  • USMCSniper

Patty Murray is so stupid she doesn't even suspect that she is stupid. A walking brick with arms and legs.

Undeniably consider that that you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be at the web the simplest thing to understand of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people consider concerns that they plainly do not realize about. You managed to hit the nail upon the highest and outlined out the whole thing with no need side effect , other folks could take a signal. Will probably be again to get more. Thank you
