Anti-White La Raza Calls for Revolution Against White America

Arizona’s battle against illegal immigration extends far beyond law enforcement—they also face a pro-amnesty assault on the academic front.  Last night, Sean Hannity interviewed AZ state superintendent Tom Horne, the author of recently signed legislation banning classes that promote “the over throw of the U.S. government,” the “resentment of a certain race,” and classes “designed for students of one particular ethnic group.”  But as they discussed, at least one district in Tucson won’t play along:


HANNITY: Now one textbook used in the class is called “Chicano: The History of the Mexican-American Civil Rights Movement.” Now the book begins by proclaiming that thanks to white Americans, quote, “Mexicans shared with blacks a debilitating burden of oppression.”

Now the textbook details the rational behind the “Chicano” movement whose activists believed, quote, “The U.S. violently invaded Mexico, wrested from it what became the American southwest and then subjugated its inhabitants.”

Now the book explains that activists saw themselves as, quote, “a conquered people, not an immigrant population.” And in its final chapters “Chicano” talks about various walk-outs and protests that occurred in the ’60s and ’70s, describing in great detail the methods used by these activists.

According to Horne, Tucson Unified School District’s enlightened education practices include “Raza studies for the Latino kids — Raza means race in Spanish —African-American studies for the African-American kids, Asian studies for the Asian kids, Indian studies for the Native American kids”:

HORNE: It’s just like the old south. And I believe that what’s important — I believe what is important American value. What’s important about people is what do you know, what can you do, what’s your character. Not what race do you happen to been born into.

And what the American schools have done is take students from different backgrounds and bring them together and teach them to treat each other as individuals. But in Tucson they’re doing the opposite.

National Review’s Liam Julian reported on Horne’s battle with TUSD back in July 2008, revealing that the anti-American, Hispanic separatists of La Raza are behind the curriculum, and that another teacher reported “a definite change in the students”:

An angry tone. They taught them not to trust their teachers, not to trust the system. They taught them the system wasn’t worth trusting.

That certainly squares with Hannity’s report, which claims that Horne has students have responded to his concerns with chants of “Horne, Horne, Horne, we wish you were never born,” and a skit in which the superintendent is killed.  Let’s hear it for tolerance!

This bitter tone and thuggish conduct are the unavoidable results of this brand of education.  Even setting aside the problem of feeding students factually false and objectively misleading information (which undoubtedly run rampant in TUSD), the entire concept of teaching people to identify with their race at the expense of individuality is racist to the core, and teaching them to resent members of current generations for the actions of past ones is an exercise in irrationality that can hardly help but discourage rational thinking.  Both principles place emotion over reason, ethics be damned, and stand in blatant violation of the Founding’s notion of public education’s purpose:

Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.

In other words, public schools are meant to cultivate intelligent, prudent, and virtuous citizens who understand their rights and responsibilities—both legal and moral—as citizens of a republic.  It’s hard to find even the slightest hint of that at work in Tucson Unified School District.

Tom Horne says the new law goes into full effect on December 31, hopefully putting a stop to this nonsense, and that he’s running for Arizona Attorney General to ensure the law is enforced.  That he dares to simultaneously stand up to the twin hornet’s nests of public schools and racial resentment reveals tremendous courage on his part; the last thing he needs is snide, hysterical, and dishonest lectures from out-of-state leftists who can’t even be bothered to read the measures they so viciously condemn.
