"Here's my half of a debate I had with Oliver Stone where he probably trounced me. In it, I describe what a Democratic Utopia Russia was before the Bolsheviks ruined it before metamorphosing into 1960's radicals. The problem with The Left is that they are jealous of the wealthy who are smarter and harder working and create all the jobs in this country. Thank you."

I'm sorry...Horowitz...did you squeeze in there that the Russian's had a democracy before the Communist Revolution? LOL. That's a new one.

You're point is always the same. You hand the crimes of Stalin and other despots to someone and then criticize how they could be like that.

Why don't post the whole message so we can decide for ourselves what Oliver Stone is trying to say? This is many years old...and obscure...the fast mind of David Horowitz strikes again. Since you went a little nutty the last few years, no one must be taking you seriously anymore. I doubt Oliver Stone will give you the time of day.

Someone quotes you and comments and you scream and yell that you were taken out of context, yet you do far worse everyday and your magazine misquotes and crops quotes all the time. FPM even had a three word quote once...lol

Is the glass half-full or half-empty? Ostensibly the question is posed to distinguish optimists from pessimists but in so doing it oversimplifies the situation and precludes more accurate and possibly important conclusions. In short, the glass is half-full or half empty depending on whether fluid is being added or removed at the time of the measurement. No sociological/psychological issues involved. As an engineer might conclude, the half-full container is twice as big as it needs to be. Possibly of economic importance? And so it goes.

Chez, you're so right... and the left at the time heaped praise on Stalin, did his bidding, and bitterly defended him against those in the West who knew what a brutal subhuman he actually was. Most of the dolts who joined the Spanish "civil war" went because they bought into Stalin's propaganda of it being the fight against fascism.
I can't understand why the left are so eager to be misled by the worst bastards in history yet so many of them urge our youth to despise our side.
One of history's greatest mysteries. I hope we solve it before the left teams up with fundamental (and not so fundamental) Islam to ruin the EVERY thing.

It's curious that both Stone AND conservatives / Horowitz want to rebel against what they perceive as opression/control, and - as Stone says - struggle for freedom. In other words liberals and conservatives are BOTH struggling for freedom? It seems obvious to me that what Stone advocates is Big Brother's boot on the neck (Orwell - 1984) and NOT freedom. I'd like to know how Stones perspective can be seen in any other way.

Well said Mr. Horowwitz. Solzhenitsyn, in reference to the spread of leftist ideology in the West, once asked whether it was possible for a society to truly learn from the mistakes of another other. He was hoping to avert the same mistakes that the Communist idealist in Russia, China etc. had made. Now, on the brink of our own leftist revolution, we have our answer: SOME of us have learned from the mistakes of others (with much thanks to the works of Mesrs. Horowitz, Glazov, Prager and others here); while others will always remain deaf to what their senses report, prefering instead to living in fantasy worlds that justify their autocratic greed and totalitarian rage. So the real question is: Can enough learn? Being a cup half full kind of guy, I'm optimistic.

This article isn't about Oliver Stone at all. Stone is simply a stand-in for the Left as a whole. As for "treason," he's a heavily decorated Vietnam vet (two volunteer tours of duty) who happens to make better movies than his critics will ever know how. His politics are more Left-libertarian than Marxist. Not that I agree with him, mind you. But the idea that he "hates" America is ridiculous. His film, "World Trade Center" (2006), by the way, won plaudits from conservatives like Cal Thomas. Or maybe old Cal's become a liberal sellout, too.

I admire David Horowitz. As a former "Red", he has the moral authority to speak on these issues. We as a nation should listen to his wisdom. As a nation, we should get these "Reds/Fascists" out of our schools. Young people have not lived, read, or experienced enough to have gathered wisdom. They do make many of their decisions based on feelings. Well, feelings change and the damage that can be done in ignorance sometimes cannot be undone.

"We can't judge people as only bad or good," Stone once said at the Television Critics Association's press tour, referring to two dictators who are responsible, in Hitler's case, for the extermination of 6 million Jews and 3 million others in killing camps during World War II, and in Stalin's, for the murders of 40 million individuals in Russia and Soviet-occupied Europe. It seems, Oliver Stone's claims notwithstanding, that one is historically justified and very accurate in classifying these two particular dictators as definitely "bad".
