The Democrats’ Desperation

Pages: 1 2

But, on the campaign trail, simply saying — accurately — that “I oppose any change at all in Social Security for our seniors” takes care of it. And Republicans rebut the jobs overseas charge by citing how the incumbent backed cash-for-clunkers, where 40 percent of the cars bought were foreign, the TARP bailout, which paid billions to overseas banks, and the GM bailout, where two-thirds of the jobs were overseas.

This is the sum total of the rhetoric the Democratic Party is using to stave off the biggest defeat it has suffered since 1860! It is a pathetic defense, easily pierced and defeated.

Now the field of battle will increasingly shift. The marginal Democrats — the freshmen and sophomores — are mostly gone. The seats of Southern conservative Democrats are largely already lost. Now the combat shifts to the previously safe seats occupied by many in the House leadership, including, perhaps, the seats of Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Banking Committee Chairman Barney Frank.

This new attack will force the Democrats to spend their resources defending their base and make it even easier to pick off marginal members. And, while Republican resources shift to the previously solidly Democratic districts, eager donors anxious to develop relationships with the new Republican majority will fill their shoes.

In the Senate, Republicans lead in eight Democratic seats: North Dakota, Indiana, Arkansas, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Illinois. In Nevada, the ninth, Harry Reid has been stuck at 44 percent of the vote since Aug. 1, when his Social Security/Medicare attack was rebutted, largely by americansfornewleadership.com, an independent expenditure group with which I work. He is dead in the water. His negative ads that flood the airwaves are not working, and the ads run by Karl Rove’s American Crossroads have him pinned down.

For the 10th seat, the GOP has five options: New York, where Joe DioGuardi is only one point behind Kirsten Gillibrand in the latest published poll; California, where Barbara Boxer is stubbornly below 50; Washington state, where the lead has seesawed back and forth between Dino Rossi and Patty Murray; Connecticut, where Linda McMahon has closed to 50-45; and Delaware, where Christine O’Donnell may yet come back and has closed the gap to 9 points.

And where is Obama while all this is happening? Proposing new initiatives on education!

Nothing would make me happier than if Morris were right on all counts, but my guts tell me it's not going to be the slaughter he's predicting. And Dick has gotten things very wrong in the past…remember "Hillary vs Condi", the race that never was?

    • Jim C.

You're not exaggerating…if you look back at Morris's predictions he has been wrong nearly every time, except for common sense stuff everyone knows like "The Yankees will beat the Pirates."

He wakes up every day thanking God people still listen to him.

  • Rifleman

I wouldn't completely count the dp out this election, and the fraud hasn't factored in yet.

  • davarino

Hopefully the repubs are holding their fire till they see the whites of their eyes. I trust Morris, I think there is going to be an avalanche late in the game.

    Hold, hold, ……. : )

Isn't this a tacit admission that the Democrat run education system is failing?

I have two words……… VOTER FRAUD. Get out and volunteer to be a POLL WATCHER!

Voters need to ask the question, do we continue Obama‘s socialist transformation into whatever, or do we stop it? Putting a Democrat, no matter how moderate, will add to Obama’s numbers in Congress. So if it comes down to a Marxist Democrat and a Republican who casts spells by wiggling her nose, choose the witch

I expect massive fraud in the WA state elections……again.

The Republicans do not have to have the majority. They need enough of the right type of Republicans to raise Cain with the Administration and it's allies. This includes investigating Eric Holder.
There still many of the Old Guard Republicans like Lindsay Graham , Orin Hatch and John McCain who love to reach across the isle. So even with a majority Republican congress the restoration of Democracy not be a lock.

Orin Hatch can be bounced but I am not sure the Tea Party can do it. It was not the tea party that shoveled out old Bob Bennett ;it was Bay Buchanan.

The manifesto of the Tea Party is not strong enough nor explicit enough to bring out the people who are on Melman's list. The Tea Party candidates are also not producing the right issues to bring out those voters.
The Republican's biggest help in winning is not their messages but it is Obama and his allies.
Remember the Republicans were kicked out in 2006 and 2008 for reasons they have failed to address.
They have been called racists by the left propaganda makers yet have failed to point out one of the major cause of the increasing poverty amongst poor blacks is their replacement by illegal labor. They failed to point out that Obama has done every thing in his power increase the flow of illegals. Displaced workers is a major issue amongst Black Americans.

They two Republican candidates in California are examples of the types that got the Republicans thrown out in the last two elections. Even if they win they will be about as much help as McCain in restoring democracy. Carley Fiorina for example while head of
HP preferrentially not only hired H1b s but claimed Americans had no rights to the jobs.
Suddenly Americans had became to stupid to work in the very industry they created ,(according to Her and The Bill Gates types).

Remember Diane Feinstein had enough goodness in her heart to put pressure on to get Ramos and Compean released from jail.

I can't think of any good deed that Boxer ever did and she is the one who is running.

I pray they all get what is coming to them and some new blood start the investigations. There is simply too much going on to keep up with anything D.M. says. I've never relied on his advise anyway. Remember where he comes from and who he worked for and with. Some memories are just too hard to forget.

Islam is not a family value, and we don't want to go to mosques in America, Mr Pres.
Your vision of Amerika bowing to arabs is not our vision of America.

And we don't like Nancy Pelosi investigating us for wrong think.

The best thing the Republican Party has going for it is what people
have in their bank accounts, those accounts are dwindeling and
disappearing fast. The depredations of the Democratic regime is
so bad that idiots and gravy train activists will be the only voters
    who Democrats will attract.

The real election is of conservative candidates over leftist Republicans
and any elite life long professional sponge politician. The lobbying in
DC and special interest money is a pox on our house and must be
removed from government. Our biggest problem is corruption and
as long as Americans vote in thieves there will never be a good day
in America. It seems that we need to reinvent the way we raise our
children and educate with honesty and integrity returned to the forum.
A mess is a mess is a mess but good grief can we say when, have
we had enough of leftist destruction?………Willian

We shall see on Nov. 3rd after the dust settles how many how many Americans we have and how many useful idiots we have. So long as voting looks like a cheerleading squad for opposing teams, we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Only until we realize that government itself is what we are fighing against, to control it's nature to corrupt itself, only then will we have a chance to undo decades of idiocy.

The current reign by the socialist democrats who have hijacked the national Democrat party will likely go the same way as the American Nazi party of the 1930's. . . though it will probably take another 20 years to weed out the anti-constitutional mindset and mandates.
