Obamacare budget funds a plague of bureaucrats and voter manipulation

Imagine that. Apparently President Obama goofed when he said universal healthcare costs less than zero. So said the Congressional Budget Office last week when they added a couple hundred billion to the bill for “administrative costs” and “discretionary programs.”

Oh well. Everyone makes mistakes. The grandchildren will understand.

These expenses weren’t included in the much-touted “deficit-reducing” Obamacare price-tag prior to the vote last March, simply because the exact totals weren’t ready. Of course, we now know that Obama and Nancy Pelosi took that opportunity to present the unfinished projection as complete and quickly called the House vote. All the more evidence that Democrats in Washington can get away with nearly anything.

To be fair, Candidate Obama did say that he would take a scalpel to federal spending, I just thought he meant to cut spending – not increase it by sculpting a budget into whatever image would best con Capitol Hill and the American people. Like last spring when Pelosi hacked at the Obamacare cost projections like a demented back-alley surgeon in a Warner Brother’s film noir classic. But instead of just giving a gangster a new face, Obama, Pelosi, and their accomplices have cobbled together an entire budgetary Frankenstein.

Robert M. Goldberg had an interesting piece at the American Spectator yesterday, regarding this latest multi-generational invoice. According to Goldberg, the additional spending will fund the army of government nannies Obamacare needs to eavesdrop on doctor visits, poke big fat monkey-wrenches into the gears of private insurance (because that worked out so well with the banks), and bankroll the ongoing voter-manipulation and subterfuge that will keep Pelosi’s minions in office.

Much of the money will go to hiring hundreds of thousands of bureaucrats to administer Obamacare over the next decade. But in the short term, the additional dollars will bankroll a two-pronged campaign to re-elect congressional Democrats. The Department of Health and Human Services will not only provide talking points in defense of Obamacare, it is preparing to use the new law for short term political gain and in ways that could make health insurance less affordable and available in 2014.

As Politico noted: “The Obama administration…gave more shape to its health reform selling strategy: Focus on the early roll-out of tangible benefits and, if all goes as planned, win over a skeptical public more than any argument ever could.”

So, In addition to being billed for hundreds of thousands of unwanted government mommies to wipe our noses and tie our shoes, we are being forced to finance our own mind control. This is not good news. If there was any silver lining around the passage of Obamacare, it was that Pelosi would stop the dirty-tricks campaign she introduced last January with this statement:

“You go through the gate. If the gate’s closed, you go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we’ll pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, we’ll parachute in. But we’re going to get health care reform passed for the American people.”

Sadly, the Pelosi pole vaults and parachutes – deceptive accounting, coercion, and back-room deals – are here to stay. And they will be wielded as needed to thwart those who would roll back this monumental invasion into the private sector.

All this makes it even harder to stomach Pelosi’s sincere, generous moments. Because she is only sincere with the “slackers” among us, and she is only generous with other people’s money.

From Hot Air:

Pelosi tells an audience in DC that ObamaCare is an “entrepreneurial bill,” because it will let people quit being productive and allow them to leech off of … entrepreneurs:

“We see it as an entrepreneurial bill, a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.”

In the meantime, productive Americans will struggle to support themselves, and feed the bureaucratic tentacles winding about their legs, and finance their own Pelosi-Obama snow-job.
