ObamaCare: Is Repeal Within Reach?

Pages: 1 2

Get ready for your life to change. The so-called benefits of ObamaCare don’t start until 2014, but the tax increases, misallocated resources and federal regulations start now.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi famously said the night of ObamCare’s passage, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it …” The emerging picture is frightening.

ObamaCare dramatically alters the already-overregulated health insurance market. The federal government will now manage your health care decisions. The law creates a maze of mandates, federal directives, price controls, tax increases and subsidies.

We all begin paying ObamaCare taxes this year. The law includes at last count at least 19 new taxes. As Americans begin to reap the personal financial burden of Obamacare, the movement to repeal it is mounting.

Individuals must pay an annual penalty of $695, or up to 2.5 percent of their annual income, if they don’t purchase an approved health insurance plan. Penalties on families include an annual penalty of $347 per child, up to $2,250 per family, if parents don’t purchase an approved policy.

Most of us have heard about the penalties on employers. Business owners must buy a government-approved health plan or pay a penalty of $2,000 per employee if they have 50 employees or more.

Investors get whacked hard. ObamaCare imposes a 3.8 percent tax on investment income for individuals making $200,000 or more and on families making $250,000 or more. The investment tax is not indexed for inflation, so as time passes more people will be expected to pay. Seniors on fixed incomes and pensioners with IRAs and 401(k) plans will be hit hard.

The so-called “Tax on ‘Cadillac’ health plans” imposes a 40 percent tax on health care plans valued at $10,200 for individuals and $27,500 for families.

Also hidden in the health care overhaul bill was the requirement, starting in 2012, all gold transfers valued more than $600 must be reported to the federal government.

Are the Muslims exempt from taking out a medical insurance because it is against their religion? If so who actually pays for their medical treatment?

Hey screener, I just wanted to say I really liked this article

The Osama Regime and the Demogogues continues their socialist assault on the United States and its people with a non-stop barrage of proposed new laws, useless commissions like the new "Ocean" commission, and so on, ad infinitum. We're now up to forty (40) Tsars that no one outside the Regime knows what they are doing at a cost of millions of dollars. Repeal of OsamaScare would be the best possible thing that could happen this year besides the Republicans taking Congress back.

To repeal this insidious legislation is not enough. Impeachment must be considered. The criminal behavior of this President and his administration is staggering, from Shore Bank and Rezco to Jarrets push to get the Olympics so she could sell her slums. The border war, which his treachery has cost the lives of American citizens and Law Enforcement to his blatant power grab through corrupt bargain legislation which now has the Executive Branch holding 75% of our "free" market. Now numerous Communist advisors tell him that he can assassinate American overseas if HE perceives them as a threat.

darkmorrow, I Agree with you on this one! The President shows he could care less about this country! His Actions Show he is on A international pursuit! While everyone is trying to read the Bill. His Actions show he could care Less!

Unfortunately, no impeachment proceedings can begin til Jan of 2011. You don't think the Dems will impeach their god, do ya?

The president SHOULD BE IMPEACHED. He is the first president that really HATES AMERICA, OUR PEOPLE, AND OUR CONSTITUTION. HE IS THE WORSE ENEMY OF OUR COUNTRY AS HE IS DESTROYING US FROM WITHIN. We probably deserve him as we elected him but our children should not have to bear the burden of our mistakes. We fell for his "charm" unaware of his desire to destroy our way of life—we should have been warned when Michelle stated "this is the first time she has ever been proud of her country" when Obama won the election. IMPEACH!!!

Why do you offer such delicious articles, and provide the opportunity to comment after each, if you will not allow your faithful readers to vent their opinions and give you feedback? Are you preparing us for the coming repression, the stomping on our freedom of speech and expression, by this Marxist New Wiorld Order tyranny? The evil inherent in communism has already started to rear its thuggish head through some moderate censorship; based on all the harm the Manchurian President has caused since the coup d'etat in 2008, I would predict that Front Page Magazine's days are numbered.

I have dual citizenship in the US & Canada, Medicare in the US, and Canadian Public medical here. I know both systems intimately, especially the TAXES. We have a HST (Harmonized Sales Tax)- 15% Provincial. Income Tax (middle class)-38% Federal. But the most insidious is the VAT, examples: my Toyota truck-US$ 28,000 – C$ 39,000, Gasoline- US$ 4.50, Milk- US$ 7.00 gal. The Canadian Dollar is only $.05 from parity w/ the US Dollar. Oh yea EVERYTHING ELSE, well,

    WELCOME TO THE PARTY!

Remember Canada has a population of 35 million, one tenth the pop of the US, without the illegals.

Good article and easy to understand. I have heard so many differing opinions on Obamacare and the statistics are always different every time I read something about it. I just hope it can and will be repealed. I don't want the government in my life anymore than it already is.

Even if 218 votes for a discharge petition is achieved, and the House, with those 218 votes repeal Obamacare, the same bill must pass the Senate. Democrats hold the majority 59 to 41. If by chance some miracle occurred and the Senate voted for repeal and the Senate-House compromise bill goes to Obama, he would naturally veto it. It takes two-thirds vote in BOTH houses of Congress to override the veto. It will not happen. Even if in November, the Republicans capture the House and the Senate, and both chambers vote to repeal, Obama will still veto it and I doubt there will be the two-thirds vote in both houses to cancel his veto. Repeal may have to wait until 2012. However, the Republicans can finally investigate Obamacare, revealing all the hidden items in the 2009 bill. They could simply not fund any programs connected with Obamacare. Even if the Republicans just win the House in November, roadblocks can be erected before repeal in 2013, when Obama, hopefully, is gone.

I agree that there must be "high crimes and misdemeanors" plenty to get this guy out of the WH. His nose should be as long as a garden hose by now, from all the lying he has done. We must educate those who still believe him and blindly approve his monstrous takeovers and bail-outs.

I think we should get behind organizations like RepealObamacarePledge.org. If this ever takes full effect it will be the end of the American republic.

Obama will be known as the president that had the most amazing move from his election when he enjoyed high 70 percentile approval, to the historic, undeniable Worst President Ever tag he's already close to closing the deal on. He is the worst president ever, and he has set back race relations 50 years or more, because he is a racist.
