Bill Ayers, Pat Buchanan, and Osama Bin Laden: A New Political Party?

Classification is an important and usually unnoticed aspect of human organizations. People in conflicting groups tend to go out of their way to visibly distinguish themselves from their opponents. The British wore red coats, the Communists and Nazis had bright flags. Groups also adopt identifying terminology to unify themselves and to be distinguished from their adversary. This practice is almost universal. Almost universal.
Today there is a world-wide political movement that has no outward unifying symbolism. The adherents of this movement appear to belong to diametrically opposed organizations and religions. They apparently have no leader and would likely scoff at the idea that they form a united political front. The only way to identify them is to see not so much what they are in favor of, but what they are against.
A very easy way to spot this political front is to look at the issue of the Jews and Israel. Radical Islamists like Osama Bin Laden and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad openly support the annihilation of Israel. As was seen this month, Radical Leftists like Bernadine Dohrn and Bill Ayers support the anti-Semitic Free Gaza Movement. Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul despise U.S. foreign policy against radical Islamists and are often critical of Israel. Both have also collaborated with an openly anti-Semitic U.S. naval officer who has published books against the United States and the Iraq War at the same time he was wearing the uniform.
These individuals all belong to opposing religions or ideological backgrounds. But they and others like them are becoming more united in action. This ostensibly new movement has some common components. The movement opposes Capitalism in its current form, U.S. foreign policy, and increasingly the Jews, who are accused of controlling capitalism and the United States.
The way to ascertain whether someone is an adherent of this Zeitgeist or movement is to pay attention to what they do as opposed to what they say they believe, or what they say they are striving for. The Radical Islamists will argue that they are preparing a world that is in line with the teachings of Allah. The former members of the Weather Underground might claim that they are striving for man made world of peace, love, and economic equality. Pat Buchanan or Ron Paul might argue that they are striving for a society that is in line with the teachings of Christ or the Founding Fathers.
These political activists do not wear common uniforms, and do not have campaign slogans. If you accept what they tell you they are concerned about, you must conclude that following Allah, Christ, and the Founding Fathers leads one to attack capitalism, U.S. foreign policy and Israel. There are always coincidences in life. But after a certain amount of time one is driven to conclude that Buchanan’s adoption of many of the same political opinions as those held by Bill Ayers and Radical Islamists is because they all hold a common ideological thread. This common thread can be found by looking at what they all oppose; the current form of Capitalism, U.S. foreign policy, and the Jews/Israel. In posts to come, I will discuss how to further identify an enemy that has so many faces.
