Engineers of the Next Final Solution Recommend Juan Cole’s “Informed Comment”

On Monday, June 7th, I called the office of a well-known opponent of US support for Israel, a man who predicts the eventual morphing of Israel into a “Palestinian-dominated Israel that will no longer be a Jewish State.” Expecting to speak to an administrative assistant, I was surprised to hear the voice of the Goebbelian oracle himself. I managed to stammer out my request:
“Could you possibly recommend good websites for anyone wishing to learn about the Gaza Flotilla, Israel, and the whole Middle-East situation. Given your background in this area, I was hoping you would point me towards some good analysis.”
His response was immediate:
“The best websites for what you’re looking for are those of Andrew Sullivan and Juan Cole.”
Andrew Sullivan’s Daily Dish can be counted on to serve anti-Semitism on every possible occasion. News Real Blog, Front Page Magazine, and Discover the Networks have offered many rebuttals to Sullivan’s Leftist analysis of major news events.
Juan Cole injects his personal brand of utopianism on a site called Informed Comment. Cole is a professor at the University of Michigan. His biography states:
“For three decades, he has sought to put the relationship of the West and the Muslim world in historical context. His most recent book is Engaging the Muslim World, and he also recently authored Napoleon’s Egypt: Invading the Middle East. The following synopsis is provided by Amazon for Dr. Cole’s book, Engaging the Muslim World:
“With clarity and concision, Juan Cole disentangles the key foreign policy issues that America is grappling with today—from our dependence on Middle East petroleum to the promotion of Islamophobia by the American right—and delivers his informed advice on the best way forward.”
* Al-Qaeda is not a mass movement like fascism or communism but rather a small political cult like the American far right circles that produced Timothy McVeigh.
* The Muslim world is not a new Soviet Bloc but rather is full of close allies or potential allies.
* There can be no such thing as American energy independence, we will need Islamic oil to survive as a superpower into the next century.
* Iran is not an implacable enemy of the U.S.—it can and should be fruitfully engaged, which is a necessary step for American energy security since Tehran can play the spoiler in the strategic Persian Gulf.
A good sample of Professor Cole’s perspective of the Middle-East can be extracted from posts dealing with the ambush of Israeli forces defending the Gaza Blockade. Informed Comment features an interview by Democracy Now. Cole’s resorting to this Marxist resource speaks volumes of his core world-view. Discover the Networks has the following analysis of Democracy Now:
Democracy Now! was created in 1996 by WBAI radio news director Amy Goodman, Pacifica anchor Larry Bensky, Juan Gonzalez, Salim Muwakkie and Julie Drizin. Its aim was to provide “perspectives rarely heard in the U.S. corporate-sponsored media,” i.e., the views of radical and foreign journalists, left and labor activists, and ideological foes of capitalism. The popular hard-left show soon began airing not only in New York City but also on the other Pacifica-owned stations in Berkeley, Los Angeles, Houston and Washington, D.C.
Democracy Now! receives indirect funding from George Soros, and direct funding from Soros’ Open Society Institute, the Glaser Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Tides Foundation, the Public Welfare Foundation, the Schumann Center for Media and Democracy, and other left-leaning foundations.
Juan Cole happily appealed to this network to provide disinformation concerning Israeli defense of its life saving Blockade.
Cole’s presentation of the Democracy Now video contributes to the ongoing attempt to establish as fact the mythology that constitutes the Leftist version of the War on Israel.
Other titles give a sense of the “Informed Comments” Cole offers:
Mercy Ships Head for Gaza, Israel Plans to Meet With War Ships
Israel Offered Nukes to South Africa to Use on Black Neighbors
Iran Announces Breakthrough Nuke Exchange
Palestinians Observe Nakbah or Catastrophe Day, raise Hopes of Unity
Israeli Settler Terrorists Plan more Mosque Burnings
At the end of the day, there is an objective truth concerning the founding of Israel, the wars waged on Israel by Arab nations to prevent the existence of a Jewish state in the Middle East, and the ceaseless war of propaganda to bring the world to condemn and abandon Israel.
Reading Cole’s blog provides abundant examples of disinformation, propaganda, and distortion of historical fact. Knowing the profound hatred for Israel openly professed by the Goebbels from whom I received the tip about Cole’s website, I understand perfectly why Informed Comments is the distinguished professor’s favorite website. What a shame these men and the network of organized anti-Semites are “informing,” the next generation of university bystanders.
