The 9-11 Graveyard Mosque: Jihad By Other Means

Americans built the Empire State Building in eighteen months. The original Twin Towers were built in three years. In the nine years that have elapsed since the Islamic attacks on America, we could have accomplished three times over what we should have begun as soon as the hollowed remains were removed from Ground Zero – reconstruction of the Towers exactly as they were – but one story higher.
Instead of the WTC One and Two rising in defiance of those who would destroy our Civilization, the shadow of an mosque will cast itself on a graveyard brought into existence by Muslims living out their faith. Here is the Cordoba Initiative project:
“Cordoba House is a Muslim-led project which will build a world-class facility that promotes tolerance, reflecting the rich diversity of New York City. The center will be community-driven, serving as a platform for inter-community gatherings and cooperation at all levels, providing a space for all New Yorkers to enjoy. This proposed project is about promoting integration, tolerance of difference… Cordoba House will provide a place where individuals, regardless of their backgrounds, will find a center of learning, art and culture; and most importantly, a center guided by Islamic values in their truest form – compassion, generosity, and respect for all.”
Run by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and his wife, Daisy Khan, the Cordoba Initiative claims to:
“achieve a tipping point in Muslim-West relations within the next decade, steering the world back to the course of mutual recognition and respect and away from heightened tensions. To do this, we need a coalition of leading individuals and organizations committed to promoting positive interaction between the Muslim World and the West.”
Is the CI’s intention really to promote a peaceful, tolerant Islam, or is this mosque, like so many other “moderate mosques” nothing but a front for the Qaran-mandated subjection of the non-Muslim world to Sharia?
Part of the answer to this question is found, not in the glossy PR brochures, but in the list of the CI’s Board of Advisors, one of whom is Samia Farouki. Samia is a first-rate philanthropist sitting on the board of directors for Vital Voices, an organization that supports women’s rights in Third-Word countries. She is on the Lab School of Washington, D.C. Board, and a member of the Folger Shakespeare Library, the Washington Opera, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Mrs. Farouki is also the director of HAI Finance.
Farouki is a co-founder of the Arab American Cultural Association. This organization came under scrutiny in 1989 when it offered to buy the rights and claimed sponsorship of the highly biased film, Young Palestinians: Days of Rage, a biased documentary of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Ms. Farouki’s husband, Huda, is a Chairman for the US Palestinian Partnership. The Partnership recently received a multi-million dollar contribution from George Soros, a known opponent of Israel. Samia Farouki is also on the Board of Directors of the Arab American Institute, an organization that is fiercely anti-Israeli.
In 2006, the Ambasador of Syria to the United States, Imad Moustapha, hosted several small dinner parties. On his personal blog, he gives the following details:
“The last two weeks were full of events and meetings with friends and interesting people. Rafif and I had the famous American journalist Seymour Hirsh and his wife Lizzie for dinner. Seymour is known for being the first to reveal to the world the My Lai massacre during the Vietnam war, Israel’s nuclear program, and the Abu Gharib scandal in Iraq. We also had with them Robert Malley who used to work at President Clinton’s National Security Council, and was the first to write and tell the truth about what happened in Camp David and the lies concerning Arafat’s refusal to accept the ‘generous’ offer of Barak, thus, according to myth, forfeiting the only real chance the Palestinians have ever had for a free independent state.”
Later he speaks of hosting the Faroukis:
“We were also honoured to have a Palestenian night at our house, honoring Ambassador Afif Safieh and his wife Christel. All guests were also Palestenians. They included Abu Al-Huda and Samia Farouki, Ziad and Mona Dieb, George Salem and Fawzi Al Asmar. Palestine and the Israeli lobby in the US were the most salient topics during the evening.”
The Cordoba Initiative has promised that the Islamic Center at Ground Zero “will provide a place where individuals, regardless of their backgrounds, will find…most importantly, a center guided by Islamic values in their truest form – compassion, generosity, and respect for all.”
What sort of tolerance will Ms. Farouki extend to those who believe that Palestine is not an Israeli-occupied land in which youths are justified in their use of terrorism against Israel? Will she sell the copies of Days of Rage in the bookstore? Will members of the “Israel Lobby” be allowed to meander into the “world-class facility that promotes tolerance, reflecting the rich diversity of New York City?”
Mrs. Farouki is only one of many Advisors to the Cordoba Initiative, but her proximity to promotion of the Jihad against Israel is reason enough to suspect that the Cordoba Initiative will not be offering anything new, but only those, “Islamic values in their truest form” that 3,000 murdered Americans taught us to expect from the religion of peace.
