Michael Steele is Indeed a Man of Steel

Posted By John R. Guardiano On March 23, 2010 @ 12:41 am In NewsReal Blog | No Comments

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele refuses to bow or back down in the face of nasty attacks from people like the Washington Post’s Colbert King.

The Washington Post’s Colbert King is angry with Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele. King thinks Steele is a sellout who has forgotten he’s black. The reason: Steele refuses to condemn the Tea Party as “racist” and “homophobic.”

“Steele didn’t go that far because he knows they [racists and homophobes] are part of the conservative base on which his party relies,” King insists.

No, Steele didn’t “go that far” because he knows that racists and homophobes are most certainly not part of the GOP’s conservative base.

Moreover, Steele refuses to accept the Left’s terms of debate. He refuses to accept the notion, implicit and explicit in the media’s badly biased coverage, that the Tea Party is littered with racists and bigots.

Steele refuses to play ball with people who engage in the politics of personal destruction. And he refuses to have a dialogue with those (like King) who wrongly play the race card.

Here’s what Steele actually said:

What you had out there yesterday [during the weekend protests against government-controlled healthcare] were a handful of people who just got stupid and said some very ignorant things.

That’s exactly right. Just so. In other words, a select few idiots (assuming they exist, which, as I reported earlier here at NewsReal Blog, is doubtful) are hardly indicative of anyone or anything other than their own idiocy and stupidity.

But that’s not good enough for the Left, which demands that Republicans and conservatives partake in its noxious race- and sex-based games by specifically denouncing “racism” and “homophobia.”

The Left demands this because it knows that charges of “racism” and “homophobia” have become effective propaganda tools through which to cow and silence anyone who objects to racial preferences and special legal privileges for homosexuals.

Michael Steele, however, refuses to play this game. He refuses to play in this left-wing sandbox. And so he gets denounced by lefties like King.

But in truth, Steele has it exactly right and is to be commended for his courageous refusal to malign and slander innocent Tea Party activists.
