President Barack Obama decided to trash Fox News and the Tea Party movement yet again – this time in the same magazine that brought down the President’s hand-picked general leading our war effort in Afghanistan. Yes, I am referring to that stellar example of serious and objective journalism, Rolling Stone Magazine.
Obsessed with the one TV network that displays some healthy skepticism about his leadership and policies, President Obama told Rolling Stone that Fox News has
a point of view that I disagree with. It’s a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive of the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world
Unfortunately, Obama has it backwards. It is his own policies which have alienated a majority of Americans, who had hoped for the kind of change they could really believe in. They did not vote for massive wealth redistribution, government take-over of key segments of the private sector, 9.6% unemployment, higher taxes, back-room deals to push Obamacare forward and record deficits and debt.
When he was done trashing Fox News for his own failures as President, Obama went after the Tea Party movement as containing racist aspects:
there are probably some aspects of the Tea Party that are a little darker, that have to do with anti-immigrant sentiment or are troubled by what I represent as the President
Again, Obama has it backwards. Many in the Tea Party movement – along with most Americans generally – are anti-illegal immigration. And the Tea Party movement – along with a majority of Americans generally – are troubled by the “progressive agendas” that Obama embraces.
To paraphrase the oft-quoted motto during Bill Clinton’s run for President -It’s the disastrous economic and social policies, stupid.
