I am sick and tired of leftist media accounts portraying the would-be car bomber Faisal Shahzad as a poor aggrieved suburban guy who ran into financial difficulties and lost his house. Typical of these tear-jerkers is The New York Times front page article entitled “Money Woes, Long Silences and Islamic Zeal.”
The Times article quotes an acquaintance of Shahzad’s family who blamed the recession for the wannabe terrorist’s woes:
The recession had taken a toll on them, I guess…[Shahad] lost his way during the financial problems
Faisal Shahzad is an Islamic extremist who turned on our country which granted him the privilege of citizenship. He was willing to kill many innocent people in the name of his twisted ideology.
We don’t need to spend any time pondering what led Shahzad to embark on his treasonous, homicidal course. Squeeze him for whatever useful information he possesses and then do everything we can to ensure that he gets the punishment he deserves.
