Promoting a Genocidal “Peace”

Indoctrination to genocidal anti-Semitism is epidemic among Palestinians and in Arab and other Muslim states. “Peace” plans that do not recognize this as the major obstacle to genuine peace, but rather push steps which ignore it, inexorably lead to more violence and are doomed to fail. Even worse, by their silence on this issue they pander to and help promote such deadly hate-mongering.

Demonization not only of Israel’s Jews but of all Jews, and calls for their mass murder, are a staple of Palestinian institutions, those controlled by Mahmoud Abbas’s Palestinian Authority as well as those of Hamas.

Hamas’s charter quotes a Hadith in which Allah declares that the Day of Judgement will not come until the Jews are all killed and even the stones and trees will help in murdering them. The charter adds that Hamas “aspires to the realization of Allah’s promise, no matter how long that should take.”

Hamas systematically employs its media, mosques and schools to convey the same message. Its schools and children’s television programming teach their young audience the virtues of killing Jews.

The Palestinian Authority hardly lags behind its Islamist rivals in peddling genocidal Jew-hatred. PA media depict Jews as a cancer that must be excised and, like Hamas, insist it is a religious duty to do so. PA indoctrination includes delineations of the nature of Jews that entail virtually every hoary anti-Semitic caricature. While PA leaders such as Mahmoud Abbas talk of “peace” to Western leaders and media, they use their vehicles of incitement to instill in Palestinians not only commitment to annihilating Israel but also dedication to extirpating the Jews.

For example, a recent official Palestinian Authority Friday sermon, broadcast on PA TV and translated by The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), had the preacher declaring: “The Jews are the enemies of Allah and His messenger… the enemies of humanity in general… Our mutual enmity with the Jews is a matter of faith more than an issue pertaining to occupation and land… The prophet Muhammad said: ‘You will fight the Jews, and you will kill them…’”

In the wider Arab world, even in countries allied to the United States, the same message is incessantly promoted. A recurrent feature of Saudi government television is of clerics or other authority figures demonizing Jews, often with the speaker having children present to whom they are imparting their Jew-hating wisdom.

Even in countries with which Israel is officially at peace, such as Egypt, variations on the same theme are prominent in government-controlled media. Egyptian television and government newspapers have, for example, featured clerical and academic authorities confirming the Jews do indeed use the blood of non-Jews in their recipes for Passover matzoh.

Robert Wistrich, a leading authority on the history of anti-Semitism and author of the recently published book on the subject,  A Lethal Obsession, has written:

“In the Middle East, [anti-Semitism] has taken on a particularly dangerous, toxic and potentially genocidal aura of hatred, closely linked to the ‘mission’ of holy war or jihad against the West and the Jews…

“The scale and extremism of the [anti-Semitic] literature and commentary available in Arab or Muslim newspapers, journals, magazines, caricatures, on Islamist websites, on the Middle Eastern radio and TV news, in documentaries, films, and educational materials, is comparable only to that of Nazi Germany at its worst.”

Also noteworthy is that, aside from the exacerbations introduced by the rise of Islamist groups in recent decades, similar anti-Jewish depredations permeated much of the Arab world before the 1967 war and Israel’s presence in the West Bank and Gaza, and even before Israel’s founding.

What has been the Western response to this promotion of genocidal Jew-hatred? Largely silence. In the Palestinian arena, the indoctrination has actually been paid for in part by the European Union and individual European states, the United Nations and even American government funds.

But no less morally obscene is the virtual absence of any acknowledgment of this hate indoctrination from all discussions of “peace.” There are, here and there, some bland references to ending “incitement,” but no evident outrage over the level and nature of the incitement or discussion of what must be done – or the time it will take – to reverse the impact of decades of hate-inculcation.

Nor is there any recognition of Israel’s need to be able to defend itself from the onslaught that it has faced in the past and will inevitably face in the future as a result of this indoctrination. The need for Israel to have defensible borders – recognized in 1967 by the authors of UN Security Council Resolution 242 in the wake of the Six Day War, and by various U.S. presidents in the ensuing decades – gets scant recognition from today’s self-styled promoters of peace, even as the intensity and impact of Palestinian and broader Arab genocidal Jew-hatred has only grown.

Territory beyond the pre-1967 cease-fire line that Israel has every right under 242 and under international law to claim for the purpose of national defense, territories that should, given their legal status, be depicted as “disputed,” are declared “Palestinian” by Western politicians and media.

Israel’s claims are dismissed as illegitimate land-grabs and the threats against her are ignored.

Those interested in a genuine peace would recognize that true peace is a long way off and will never be achieved as long as Israel’s enemies continue to indoctrinate their people in genocidal anti-Semitism. They would draw public attention to this obscenity and to its obstruction of possible movement toward a real peace. And they would seek in the interim lesser, and less murder-enabling, goals entailing a separation of Palestinians from Israel to the degree commensurate with Israel’s retaining strategic territories necessary for its defense; goals that, for example, would not put Israel’s major population centers within range of the type of assaults that have followed upon Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza.

Genuine peace-seekers would aspire to arrangements that enable Palestinians to pursue their own, separate political course without rendering Israel more vulnerable to those whose agenda is the annihilation of its people.

Promoters of anything less, of any plan that is silent about the hate-indoctrination and the existential threat it represents to Israel, or gives it no more than a passing nod of acknowledgment as a problem, are not pursuing peace. Promoters of any formula that talks of “peace” as reachable in short order and dismisses Israel’s need for defensible borders are not agents of serious attempts to attain peace. Whether such formulas emanate from gentile or Jew, from the EU, or individual European states, or the UN, or the Quartet, or the State Department or the White House, or are advanced by Israel’s Meretz party, or the devotees of Peace Now, or the beneficiaries of the New Israel Fund, or the groupies of J Street – their promoters are in reality silent appeasers and accommodators, and not infrequently abettors, of those who are both propagandizing for and actively aspiring to another genocide of the Jews.

No one and no one nations will conquer Israel. all the nations of the Earth can come against Israel and it will survive. Israel will not and cannot be defeated. PERIOD.

    • Edip Yuksel

Well, if God protected Jews unconstitutionally we would not have witnessed their tragic experience in Holocaust.

The Zionist arrogance that you are displaying is exactly the very reason, the divine guarantee that the demise of Israel will be soon. Arrogance, aggression, false propaganda and injustice cannot be sustained for so long.

The world[s] of the non muslim is to be seen as a sick patient who
refuses to see a Dr and ask for an,eventual, cure because some times
patients are to late seeing a doctor and can not be cured, only to prolong
their life span a bit longer. Islam is the disease wich will kill us all.
There are still a few physicians in the world who point to a solution but the
vaccins are harder to come by because it will demand a loss of our human
dignity.Because that is how severe the cure has to be applied.
One way ore the other, the world has to eliminate the patient or the disease.

You're wasting your breath. Aliyah collapsed in 2000 and Israel abandoned most efforts towards immigration in 2007. It's reversed its policy towards the previously reviled yordim and now tries to persuade them they plan to return one day. That policy is not working either.

Meanwhile, Israel's military technological edge is still immense, but can no longer save it. Starting from the one place that Israel wanted to be friendly (Lebanon), come primitive military threats that have already succeeded in emptying the Northern half of Israel once. Nobody knows when that will happen again, but the peace may not last many months. The Iron Dome technology isn't even going to work in less than 10 years, let alone overcome the cost advantage of mass-produced rockets.

    • 9-11 Infidel

No dude, you are wasting your time. Aliyah has not ended at all. Rabbi Eckstein's group is still actively resettling the diaspora into Israel. The Muslim-Jew question is like a professional wrestling match which is well-choreographed, the moves are real, yet the outcome has already been determined beforehand. In the end, Israel will win and all the western anti-semites and the Muslims together will be defeated. That outcome is set in stone.

Aside from their eternal enmity towards the Jews, the PLA suffers from five self-imposed maladies. Chaos, strife, lawlessness, corruption and jihad. How much of the 7.4 billion in western aid has gone into the pockets of Abbas, Arafat was no better. Does anyone think that most of that money went to the Muslim people themselves to better their condition? Like hell it did. Most of that money is in the hands of the PLA authorities and is used to fight the jihad and to grease the palms of the corrupt elite in the PLA, starting at the top with Abbas. Hamas is no different. Keep paying the jizya westerners, it will never buy you "sohl" only hudna.

History repeats. While two-faced gutless representatives worry about their election and amassing millions before leaving office, the new "brown shirt" army of murderous thugs is being organized. Amoral leaders who now dominate the U.S. government slowly fit the noose (or should I say ovens). The so-called opposition will maintain its decorum with polite talk. Pleading is next; then total denial.

I'm very worried about Israel's future. Can she defend herself if Iran, the US, and the Arab countries, Hamas and Hezbollah unite against her? If Iran has atomic weapons? The many who say Israel will 'never' accept such and such terms assume she won't be destroyed first. How can she stand up, alone, against everyone?
I'd like to think Americans, outside of the administration, would come to her aid, but if OB continues to bash, debilitate and isolate her, and while enabling Iran's weapon, I'm not confident that disaster for Israel can be avoided. Why don't American jews see the danger and stand up for her?

    • Neil

Jim, Your commentary hits the nail right on the head, especially in regard to American Jewry. OB's continued debasement of Israel will intensify, as he knows that in 2012, he'll still garner 78%+ of American Jewry's support, because he has a D next to his name, rather than an R. It didn't make any sense in 2008, and it doesn't make any sense now.

I forget who said it here but the best Israel could do is to announce to the world that it holds all of Islam responsible and will take action accordingly. Since Islam (through all states but Iran in particular) call for the utter destruction of Israel it is Islam that should answer for it. Israel should announce it will engage in Mutually Assured Destruction. Knowing it is all or nothing. Since Islam won't stop until Israel is gone, Israel should promise that Mecca, will go the same time Tehran goes as well as Gaza. Let EVERY Islamic nation pull in the reins on Iran for THEIR OWN GOOD.

A new poll of American Jewish opinion, conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, has produced a surprising result: despite the fact that American Jews voted for Barack Obama in 2008 by a massive 78% to 21%, today a plurality of 46% of American Jews say they would consider voting for someone else if Barack Obama runs for re-election in 2012, whereas 42% would vote for him and 12% registered no opinion.

    The poll also found that:

•62% of American Jews believe that the Palestinians would continue their campaign of terror to destroy Israel if they were given a Palestinian state, while only 19% say they would live peacefully with Israel.

•52% of American Jews disapprove of the Obama Administration supporting a plan to recognize a Palestinian state within two years, whereas only 28% approve of it.

•64% of American Jews believe that Jerusalem should remain the undivided capital of Israel, while only 13% say that the United States should force Israel to give up parts of Jerusalem to the Palestinians (‘McLaughlin & Associates Poll: National Survey of Jewish Voters,’ April 14, 2010).

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “By any yardstick, this is a surprising result. It is well-known that American Jews have been overwhelmingly and consistently supporters of the Democratic Party for decades and that 78% of American Jews voted for Barack Obama.

“Despite concerns, voiced by ZOA and others, regarding then-Senator Obama’s friendships with the anti-Israel Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton, Rashid Khalidi, Ali Abunimah and others; his statements that Hamas and Hizballah have ‘legitimate claims’; and his backtracking on supporting Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel, most American Jews reassured by Obama’s professions of friendship for and unshakeable bond’ with Israel.

“However, after 15 months in office, American Jews have been given cause for deep concern about the President’s harsh policy towards Israel and indulgent one towards the Arab and Muslim worlds.

“Not only have Israel’s sworn enemies, like Iran and Syria, been courted; not only did the President inaccurately write off Jewish claims to statehood as some sort of consolation prize for the Holocaust in his June 2009 Cairo speech; not only have many of his Middle East advisers track records of hostility to Israel; not only has he coupled American commitment to Israel’s security with Israel ‘respecting’ the legitimate claims and rights of the Palestinians; but his Administration has condemned as ‘an insult to America’ Israel’s announcement that it will build homes for Jews in a Jewish neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem, while increasing aid to a Palestinian Authority that refuses to negotiate, make concessions or end terrorism or incitement to hatred and murder against Israel. American Jews appear to have noticed and are worried – with reason.”

The future of Israel is set in stone. It isn't Israel that should be worrying or her friends. Its her enemies that should worry. Consider Zechariah 14:12: "And the LORD will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths." Sounds like nuclear war to me. Guess who the victor is? Hint: It isn't the Muslims or their anti-semite allies in the West.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't Gods' protectection of Israel dependent on Israels' faithfulness to God? God did send a bunch of snakes to kill the Israelites while they were wandering in the desert, because they were grumbling against Him.

Professor Levin: You state the case very well clearly and succinctly. Your analysis and conclusions appear obvious once pointed out and could be (could have been) extracted from the news media by most. So where are the so called intellectuals or liberal intellectuals? Why are they so blind to the apparent? Why are your writings limited to the converted and idealogical opponents? The liberal intellectuals, unfortunately, got rid of Freud at least 25 years ago. So the law of history (so far) — 'Robbery and Murder –leading to Revenge then Guilt' is self obscured.

Israel needs to stand firm and look out for its own interests for a change.
Tiny Israel is too small for two states, especially when the Arab group takes joy in massacring Jews. The Arabs own 99.9% of the Middle East. They have the space to place ALL the Arabs who claim to be Palestinian –– without cramping. They have the money to settle the Palestinians, especially if the money now spent on the Arab "refugees" is added in. And why should there not be room in the Middle East with its 22 Arab states for a single Jewish State? In fact, when you think about it, the major question is: where should the Palestinian arabs be resettled? that and the need for Israel to stand firm and look out for its own interests for a change.
