Is ‘Organizing For America’ The Source Of The Ellie Light Letters?

I Want You!…to hassle people
that don’t support my agenda

In the past few weeks letters supporting President Obama’s agenda have been published in various news editorials in multiple states signed by the mysterious Ellie Light who claims to reside in all of the states.  Each letter bears a striking similarity to the others.  Controversy is building across the internet surrounding the real identity of Ellie Light and the origin of the “astroturf” letters.

Hat Tip to Freeper Jim Wayne for noticing that Organizing For America (OFA), a.k.a. barackobama.com, President Obama’s campaign website, contains a letter generator for astroturfing letters of support to various media outlets across the country.

By googling the first sentence of the astroturf   letters provided on the OFA website, Wayne discovered the search engine returns a number of results published in various newspaper and media editorials around the country with identical wording.

Freeper RebelBase dug a little deeper and discovered:

Write a letter about the climate crisis. http://my.barackobama.com/page/speakout/ClimateChange

Here is the first sentence: “No nation will be able to meet the challenges of growing the economy and creating jobs in the 21st century without a serious investment in green technology”

Google Hits: Results 1 – 10 of about 3,770 for “No nation will be able to meet the challenges of growing the economy and creating jobs in the 21st century without a serious investment in green technology”. (0.17 seconds)

Another one:

“Private banks are currently making huge profits by taking taxpayer money and acting as the middleman for millions of students.”

Google Hits: Results 1 – 10 of about 129,000 for Private banks are currently making huge profits by taking taxpayer money and acting as the middleman for millions of students..

Astroturfing letters to various media agencies disguised as unique letters of support from John Q. Public should come as no surprise to those familiar with Barack Obama’s campaign or David Axelrod, President Obama’s senior White House adviser known as the “Master of Astroturf.”

But is OFA also the origin of the mysterious Ellie Light astroturfing letters blasted to media in recent weeks?

No solid proof exists at this time, but the story is intriguing and Wayne’s discovery may begin to put visibility on the activities of President Obama’s main arm of continued support and organization. Perhaps through determined investigations by online bloggers we may begin to actually see transparency into the actions of the current administration.

One thing can be certain, the endless campaign of Barack Obama continues to roll forward.
