Jan of Arizona is No Saint But She Fights Like One

Governor Jan Brewer might not hear voices that tell her to save the state and she’s definitely not the real Joan of Arc but in the past six months she’s proved herself to be one tough warrior.
Besides preparing for the court battle set to begin on July 22 in Phoenix pitting Eric Holder’s DOJ and the ACLU against the Governor, she’s taking $10 million from the state of Arizona’s stimulus funds to secure the border. She’s not waiting for the Feds:
Since the federal government continues to announce inadequate plans and place new warning signs on federal lands in Arizona, we are forced to do what we can locally to act on safety and security until the Congress and the Administration acts.
The money will go towards training programs, hiring new police patrols, overtime pay, communication equipment and part-time personnel. Border cities, counties and tribes will receive money and materials to stop people from entering the state illegally.
Brewer has relentlessly stood her ground against attacks by groups like La Raza whose reps met with Obama and hitwoman Valerie Jarrett at the end of June in a White House meeting. According to a July 20 Washington Post article the President gave them some advice:
Obama invited a small group of influential Latino activists to the White House and reassured them that he is committed to reform. But to succeed, he said they had to stop their public complaining about how slowly he was moving and instead direct their fire at Republicans.
Janet Marguia, President of the National Council of La Raza gets the Alinskyite war strategy : “The president fundamentally understands that this is about the longer term.”
July 6, one week after the get-together with the activists , the Obama administration filed suit against Arizona for usurping federal authority when Governor Brewer signed SB 1070 into law on April 26.
The clash has already begun. Last Thursday in Phoenix a two -hour hearing was held to determine if the Arizona law goes too far. It’s the first of six cases that will be brought before the court.
Battling the President, the Attorney General, far Left radical groups and Democratic Party officials that spout rhetoric like “The fight over immigration is a proxy for tolerance. It’s a proxy for diversity” won’t be easy. But Jan Brewer not only has two-thirds of Arizona voters behind her she has the grit to go all the way in defending the law of the land.
