ACORN Thug Joins Communist Van Jones At John Podesta’s Smear Factory

Steve Kest, who was executive director of the organized crime syndicate ACORN, has become a senior fellow at John Podesta‘s Center for American Progress (CAP). CAP is heavily funded by radical philanthropist George Soros and subprime mortgage hucksters Herb and Marion Sandler.
CAP is behind President Obama‘s bizarre smear attack against the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that claims the trade association is using foreign money to influence the election. The smear smacks of “reptilian desperation” and “oozes of slime and innuendo,” says Charles Krauthammer. More on that in a moment.
Kest joins self-described “communist” and 9/11 truther Van Jones who is also a senior fellow at CAP. Kest participated in the eight-year long coverup of a million-dollar embezzlement at ACORN perpetrated by Dale Rathke, brother of disgraced ACORN founder Wade Rathke.
Under Kest’s leadership, over time ACORN embraced progressively more brutal tactics such as the 1995 storming of a congressional hearing on the Community Reinvestment Act. ACORN national president Maude Hurd and other ACORN members caused such a ruckus they were arrested by Capitol police. ACORN researcher Stanley Kurtz says Hurd’s temper tantrum helped “save” the CRA, which Congress was then considering weakening.
Meanwhile, even the New York Times is distancing itself from CAP’s unprecedented hatchet job on the Chamber of Commerce. There is “no evidence” the Chamber is spending money from abroad on the election, the newspaper reported. The Old Gray Lady also quoted Richard L. Hasen of Loyola Law School saying, “I’ve seen no proof of the chamber funneling a penny of foreign money into U.S. elections.”
CAP manufactured the smear out of the fact that the Chamber has 115 foreign member affiliates in 108 countries that remit under $100,000 a year in membership dues that go into the Chamber’s general fund. The group’s total budget exceeds $200 million.
The Times report quotes a Chamber spokesman saying the group has “safeguards to segregate the small fraction generated overseas from other accounts to comply with federal law and avoid bleeding into political spending.”
