Breaking: MoveOn Plans To Ignore Obama In Lead-Up To November Election

Left-wing activists hoping to keep Congress under Democratic control after the mid-term elections this November are running away from President Barack Obama as fast as they can.

A senior MoveOn official confirmed the progressive plan Monday to de-emphasize Obama at the “America’s Future Now” conference in Washington, D.C. (The event is hosted by the Campaign for America’s Future and its sister organization, the Institute for America’s Future.)

During a panel discussion at the leftist confab dominated by corporation-bashing and attacks on Wall Street, Ilyse Hogue, MoveOn’s director of political advocacy and communications, said progressives need to focus on “disrupting the existing conversation.”

“We need to make this election a referendum on corporate control, not on tea party politics and not on Obama overreach,” said Hogue.

“If we’re actually telling a story of the corporate interests and their collusion with elected representatives, well that’s all of the Republicans mostly, right, all of them, plus a handful of Democrats who have chosen to stand with them, that story works in all of those [congressional] districts,” she said.

Joining Hogue in the fantasy land of eternal Democratic domination of national politics was DailyKos founder Markos Moulitsas.

Despite polls showing President Obama’s radical agenda to be massively unpopular, Moulitsas was upbeat about the approaching election. “At this point we’re fighting a defensive battle,” he said.

“If we can hold [Democrats] to a few seats lost, maybe three to five seats in the Senate, 15 seats in the House, then we’ve won a big victory” because Republicans have set expectations so high, he said.

According to Moulitsas, Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) is “dead, she’s under water, either Tuesday or November.” Arkansas Democrats vote in a primary runoff election Tuesday that pits Lincoln against challenger Bill Halter.

In 2006 “we kicked five Republicans out of the Senate,” he said. “We can do all of the above and in fact what I’ve seen happen is when we do make gains against Democrats, bad Democrats, it energizes us because it makes us feel, ‘OK, we’re making progress.’ We’ve taken our stab at Democrats in the primary process now we’re going to take out Republicans.”
