Jones has taken a position at the Center for American Progress, plans to teach at Princeton, and is going to receive an award from the far-left NAACP, which has flirted with many other communists in the past. NAACP president Benjamin Jealous describes the dangerous Jones as “an American treasure” for embracing the fanciful notion of heavily government-subsidized “green jobs.”
“Everybody’s favorite self-described communist revolutionary is now on his comeback tour,” Glenn Beck said on his TV show.
Leftist David Roberts, who writes for Grist and Huffington Post, was delighted to learn that Jones is back on the fast track to left-wing stardom. According to Roberts, Jones left his green jobs czar post “last fall in the face of a coordinated smear campaign by conservative activists.”
Actually, it could only be considered a smear campaign if activists were lying. In fact, they weren’t. Beck and others merely repeatedly Jones’s past statements and actions.
This is standard operating procedure for Roberts, a misanthropic far-left environmentalist whose webzine Grist is bankrolled by many of the same funders who have backed Van Jones’s nonprofit ventures. He’s been there since the beginning trying to airbrush away Jones’s anti-American activism.
In September he claimed in the absence of evidence that Jones had renounced communism. It simply never happened but Roberts doesn’t care because he’s more interested in propaganda than truth.
Meanwhile, Jones is claiming he’s not a 9/11 truther and that he never signed a 9/11 truther petition accusing the U.S. government of orchestrating the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
“They went and put my name on some abhorrent, crazy language they never showed me, I never saw,” Jones said of mysterious petition signature gatherers with Jedi mind control powers he claimed to have met at a conference six years ago.
His signature remained on the online petition unbeknownst to him until a blogger spotted it last summer, Jones claimed. This is the same person who is on record denouncing America for its supposed imperialism and condemning capitalism every chance he gets.
How convenient. Here’s Jones making the above statement on the Tavis Smiley Show:
