The Democrats say the healthcare debate will end this week, but will it really, asked Glenn Beck on his TV show.
The progressives are pulling out all of the stops. But what they’re saying now is that if you don’t want this health care bill, you just must hate the poor. You must have absolutely no charity in your heart whatsoever.
Progressives trotted out an unfortunate child who lost his mother to make the case for socialist healthcare tyranny.
Those on the left hate child exploitation — except when it advances their cause, so it’s no surprise that Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) rolled out 11 year old Marcelas Owens to plead the case for socialist healthcare:
My mom was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in 2006. She missed so much work that she lost her job. And along with her job, she lost her health care. And losing her health care ended up causing her her life. And I wanted to finish her fight for health care.
Schumer pulled at America’s heart strings, adding “It’s about Marcelas’ mom.”
Except it’s not.
The boy’s mother did lose her job and her health insurance but it’s not true to say she lacked healthcare, Beck noted.
But even without health insurance coverage “she went to the hospital and received treatment, at least two times. The second time was for eight days in the hospital. Now, how is that not having access to health care?”
Beck suggested ObamaCare backers were misrepresenting what really happened to the late Mrs. Owens in order to make an emotional hard sell on so-called healthcare reform. She didn’t follow up:
For whatever reason between the visits to the emergency room, she refused to go back to the doctor, despite the fact that she was vomiting blood. Was no one saying “Please go back to the doctor”? I grew up in Washington State. Believe me, they offer a plethora of existing government assistance programs to anybody who’s laid off or unemployed. If you’re worker and you’re unemployed, they got assistance for you. Just like Marcelas’ mom. Why didn’t she enroll? Did she enroll? These are the questions that were never answered with these stories, because the answer too often doesn’t fit the agenda.
Beck noted that Mrs. Owens had been a member of a leftist group called Washington Community Action Network.
Of course no self-respecting Alinskyite group would ever pass up an opportunity to capitalize on the death of one its members — just as the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) was apparently wheel-and-dealing on his own deathbed in an effort to help his allies profit politically from his approaching demise.
Right now the Washington Community Action Network’s website urges visitors to “[s]ign our petition today to ‘Stand with Marcelas.’” No big surprise there.
