Caroline Glick, YouTube, and Political Alliances

I very much admire Jerusalem Post journalist and deputy managing editor, Caroline Glick. Glick seems considerably to my right, politically, but I love the fact that she’s tough as nails in her support for Israel. Personally, I no longer care where anyone stands on the political spectrum when it comes to the Israel-Arab conflict, so long as they are supportive of the Jewish State. I know of American Meretz and J-Street supporters who are highly critical of Israel and, in my opinion, fall entirely into the trap of believing Israel responsible for everything that goes on I-P, but who I still appreciate because they support the Jewish state.

In any case, Glick is associated with LatmaTV, which produced “We Con the World.” This video, which parodies the Left-Jihadi Alliance and the notion that the vicious thugs aboard the Mavi Marmara were “peace activists” and “humanitarians,” was recently removed from Youtube allegedly due to copyright constraints. I am not a lawyer, so I cannot reasonably speak to questions of copyright, but Glick claims the following:

Copyright attorneys also warned us that given our clearly lawful use of the song We are the World, if anyone wished to silence our voices, they wouldn’t target us. Instead they would target YouTube. It is YouTube’s standard practice to remove any material that they receive even the flimsiest threat for because the company wishes to avoid all litigation.

At the same time, this is not YouTube’s first move to silence Israeli voices. During Operation Cast Lead, the IDF Spokesman’s Unit established a YouTube channel and began posting combat footage on its channel to bypass the anti-Israel media and go directly to news consumers. Shortly after the IDF channel began making waves, YouTube – which is owned by Google – removed IDF videos from the website.

I sincerely doubt that Google is anti-Israel. What they are is pro-profit-making and that’s pretty much as it should be. But Glick and LatmaTV, much to their credit, are fighting back:

Moreover, stay tuned for our next video next Thursday night.

If someone is in fact trying to silence our voices, they will soon discover that they are messing with the wrong Jews.

Messing with the wrong Jews!

Now, that’s an attitude that I can get behind.
