Confronting Jew-Hatred at Daily Kos: The Week in Review

Daily Kos, along with such blogs as the Huffington Post, is one of the major purveyors of left-wing Israel Hatred, if not hatred toward Jews, more generally, to be found on-line. Over the course of the last week, between Sunday, August 1 and Saturday, August 7  “Kossacks” published 17 “diaries” on the subject of Israel and/or the Arab-Israel conflict, the great majority of which were entirely hostile smear jobs.

In “Uncoupling Judaism and Israel” Dave in Northridge claims that Israel is so horrific that we must, somehow, “uncouple” Israel from the Jewish people. Because Daily Kos Israel Haters and anti-Zionists like to also think of themselves as anti-racist it is imperative that they pretend that bashing Israel has nothing whatsoever to do with the Jewish people. This lie is so transparent as to be laughable, but they hold it as a matter of faith because to suggest otherwise reveals the true anti-Jewish nature of their agenda.

In “Breaking: Israel and Lebanon exchange fire” JimmyTheMac accuses Israel of crossing into Lebanese territory, with the unstated implication that the recent hostilities between Israel and Lebanon are Israel’s fault. Needless to say, even the UN has stated that the Israelis remained on their own side of the border during that shoot-out and that it was the Lebanese military that initiated the conflict.

Lefty Coaster, one of the more toxic and nasty anti-Zionists on Daily Kos, published “Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity warn Israel may bomb Iran.” Lefty essentially accuses Israel of warmongering in their efforts to prevent Iran from attaining nuclear weaponry and warns that Israel could drag the US into a wider regional conflict.  He entirely discounts any Iranian provocation and seems to have no problem whatsoever with impending Iranian nuclear weaponry.

In “Israel Has Nothing to Hide” InAntalya wants a UN investigation into the recent flotilla nonsense and suggests that Israel is covering up an atrocity. S/he writes rhetorically:

Let’s start with the Mavi Marmara. Is there nothing to hide because all the blood has been scrubbed away and all the bullet holes have been covered up in some way?

Nowhere does InAntalya acknowledge that the Mavi Marmara contained actual Jihadis seeking martyrdom in an attempt to kill Jews and that they attacked IDF soldiers, thus forcing those soldiers to defend themselves. Actual physical aggression against Jewish Israelis is considered perfectly normal and acceptable for many Daily Kos participants and only Israeli responses are ever condemned. This is part of the centuries old tradition, in both Europe and the Middle East, which says that Jews have no rights to self-defense.
