Obama Declares War on Gadgets, Except for Himself

Don’t you just love how hypocritical many leftists are? Take Al Gore. The former vice-president says he’s greatly troubled by man-made global warming. In order to do something about this “problem,” he tells all of us that we should ditch our gas-fueled cars and replace them with so-called “clean-cars.” He also says we should use less energy in our homes by replacing normal light bulbs with ones that use less energy, by buying smaller TV’s and by generally reducing the quality of our lives. After all, to fight this life threatening problem we all have to take a step back.

Except for him, that is. He uses about the same amount of energy every year as whole villages. When he travels to, say, Europe, he does so by private jet thereby polluting the atmosphere more in one year time than all of us can ever hope to do during our 70+ years on this planet. It’s hypocrisy pure and simple: one rule for us, another – often an opposite – rule for Gore and his merry leftist friends.

Sadly, it seems that Gore has taught one of his successors as leaders of the Democratic Party, now President Barack Obama, rather well:

US President Barack Obama lamented Sunday that in the iPad and Xbox era, information had become a diversion that was imposing new strains on democracy, in his latest critique of modern media…

“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation,” Obama said.

That’s terrible indeed, Barack. We need to get rid of all these products that turn information into entertainment. It’s time to get serious! Oh, what’s that?

“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation,” Obama said.

Obama’s real problem isn’t with the iPod and iPad, but with the fact that citizens are now more easily informed than ever before. After all, as every other leftist he needs them to be as uninformed – or at the very least misinformed – as possible.

The progressive idea depends on the creation of an elite who decide for the rest of society what’s best for them. Such a construction only works when the elite are the only ones who are informed. That’s what this is about and nothing else.
