Now I read that his non-profit civil rights group, National Action Network, may have to file for bankruptcy because it can’t pay its bills. Luckily the organization is paying its staff, but it’s doing that by, umm, not paying its taxes (to the tune of $1.3 million).
Not to worry, though. I think I have a solution that’ll clear this mess right up. Sharpton just needs to explain that it’s raaaaaascist to expect his non-profit to be fiscally responsible. That’ll get those hateful creditors to back down, right?
Okay, probably not, but is old Al beginning to find out that the racial arsonist rhetoric that he and his fellow thugs employ is a recipe for financial disaster? Maybe (emphasis mine):
“The organization has suffered recurring decreases in net assets — and has been dependent upon advances from related parties and the nonpayment of payroll tax obligations — to maintain continuity,” the firm KBL concluded in an April 2 audit of NAN’s 2008 financial records, the most recent available.
When you have so little money in the warchest that you’re forced to borrow and not pay your taxes, I think it’s safe to say that your chosen business model – in Sharpton’s case racism, anti-semitism, and shakedowns – sucks. If this were a for-profit business, they’d be scrambling to re-tool so they didn’t have to close their doors.
This would be the perfect time for Sharpton to admit that he’s simply wrong about about his employ of racial politics, but I doubt that’ll actually happen. So I’ll enjoy watching NAN fade into obscurity, hopefully along with Sharpton himself.
