NewsReal Blog Book Club: David Swindle’s Distractions From Moving

What to do after a long day of moving arrangements and packing?

NRB’s managing editor, David Swindle, described what’s been on his reading agenda the past few weeks:

While flying out to Los Angeles last week to find our apartment I finished Howard Bloom’s first book, The Lucifer Principle. (I’d previously raved about Bloom’s newest book The Genius of the Beast.) I highly recommend it. Right now I’m also reading Bloom’s second book, Global Brain, and Brion McClanahan’s Politically Incorrect Guide to the Founding Fathers. McClanahan’s book is OK if one can look the other way at all the Ron Paulisms. The historical information about the founders is certainly great; just ignore McClanahan’s editorializing.

Next on the agenda is Leszek Kolakowski’s Main Currents of Marxism. I’m planning to tackle that one once we’re settled again. I’ve been meaning to read it for awhile but after David Horowitz told me that it was the best book that will ever be written about Marxism I knew I had to make it a priority.
