Sugar Stalinists Eager to Build Fast Food Gulags in Obama’s First Term

Now the food police want to send fast food patrons and purveyors to reeducation camps in San Francisco. OK, not really. But if you eat fast food, they do want to stigmatize you, tax you, and reeducate you. Just ask MeMe Roth, founder of National Action Against Obesity, and others on the Left who are seriously disturbed (by what you eat).
Roth was on the latest episode of the Showtime series “Penn and Teller’s Bullsh*t,” a show that generally does a great job of exposing those who want to take away our basic freedoms. (The show is co-hosted by Penn Jillette, who David Swindle recently called out for refusing to go after radical Islam.) I can only describe MeMe Roth as: someone you should be thankful was not your kindergarten teacher.
The Bullsh*t crew filmed Roth walking around fast food restaurants doing her best Al Gore sigh at the mere sight of people eating. She literally gripes about how disgusting people look eating their fast food (unfortunately, that’s not on the free clip). Her disgust is surpassed only by her self-assuredness that every evil known to mankind – cancer, the common cold, rush hour traffic, Lady Gaga, etc – is caused by fast food.
In a typical play from the progressive Left, she insists that the American people – not her, of course – are too stupid to know they are eating poisonous food. But in the type of “gotcha” moment that makes Bullsh*t worth watching, they interview a researcher (Brian Wansink) who shows we aren’t so dumb after all. His work suggests we’ve been conditioned to think poorly of fast food. So much so, in fact, that if someone thinks they’re eating “healthy” food from a fancy restaurant, they tend to underestimate the calories.
The Bullsh*t cameras also catch the Associate Dean of the NYU Wagner School, and this is where I had to rewind my DVR (is it really rewind?). Dr. Kersh claims that, due largely to fast food, the generation of Americans born now will actually have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. As someone who actually does empirical research, I can’t buy that bullsh*t for even a second. (By the way, you can read about the Wagner School’s “focus on diversity” here.)
