Leg Thrills and Spine Chills: Chris Matthews’ Glass House Regime

The old saying “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks” may be a self-evident truth to most of us, but this one is lost on Chris Matthews, the self-appointed guardian of all things Obama, and host of MSNBC’s Hardball.
Matthews recently caught the attention of conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh. (After one of Matthews’ typical tirades he called Limbaugh an underwater walrus.) The third grade comment was not what got Rush’s attention. Granted the rant was directed at him, it was over his use of the word “regime.”
In predictable form, Matthews completely ignored the substance of what Rush had said, and instead of engaging in real debate, he put on his offended face and powdered his nose with self-righteous indignation–claiming the use of the word “regime” when referring to an American President, was unacceptable–and it must stop.
A short clip of what Limbaugh said:
“…I have never seen the media so supportive of a regime amassing so much power. And I have never known as many people who literally fear for the future.”
“… I’ve never seen language like this in the American press, referring to an elected representative government, elected in a totally fair, democratic, American election… And this guy, this walrus under water, makes fun of this administration, calling it a “regime.” … You go to war with regimes. Regimes are tyrannies. They’re juntas. They’re military coups. The use of the word “regime” in American political parlance is unacceptable, and someone should tell the walrus [Limbaugh] to stop using it.”
Someone must have later informed Mr. Matthews that we now live in the age of the internet, and caught him throwing the same rocks at President Bush.
He wants to play nice now that the damage is done.
Matthews sheepishly admits:
“…the Bush team, I once called it a Bush Regime and I’ll pay for that as long as I live.”
His quick dismissal, with he will “pay for it” is typical. The tone was set by the Left during the Bush administration. It was a minority of voices, but they were harsh, unrelenting and effective. Today’s voice’s are angry, and it’s no longer the minority.
I once asked one of my teenagers, “You know what they say about people who live in glass houses don’t you?” Without blinking an eye, she quipped, “Yeah, they shouldn’t walk around naked.”
The Left’s tactics and agenda have been fully exposed, and when used against them, their glass house shatters.
