Bin Laden Goes Green

Judged simply by their content, it would be easy to misidentify the speaker who uttered the following quotes:

“The effects of global warming have touched every continent. Drought and deserts are spreading, while from the other floods and hurricanes unseen before the previous decades have now become frequent.”

Al Gore perhaps?

“The world is held hostage by major corporations, which are pushing it to the brink. World politics are not governed by reason but by the force and greed of oil thieves and warmongers and the cruel beasts of capitalism.”

Sounds a lot like something you might read at the Daily Kos.

“We must also stop dealings in the dollar and get rid of it as soon as possible. I know that this has great consequences and grave ramifications, but it is the only means to liberate humanity from slavery and dependence on America.”

That’s got to be George Soros, doesn’t it?

In fact, all three quotes are part of Osama bin Laden’s latest appeal to the world in an audio tape released last week by the Arab news network Al-Jazeera. The idea, no doubt, was to appeal to more “mainstream” anti-Americanism around the world. Those who help sabotage American industry and our economy, in other words, punish the infidels. Perhaps not quite as spectacular as blowing up a CIA outpost, but all contributions are gratefully accepted.

This is not to say that either Al Gore or George Soros are terrorist sympathizers (the jury is out on the Daily Kos). Rather, it’s to observe that radical messages tend to attract radicals. Bin-Laden’s self-serving green activism will resonate with people pre-disposed to distrust America, and alarmists like Gore have created the environment that allows this to occur.

There is much obvious, and laughable, hypocrisy in bin-Laden’s sudden concern for the environment. It was his terrorist organization, after all, that leveled the twin towers, which subsequently created the most horrendous air pollution disaster in the history of New York. If he’s really concerned about the environment, this Islamic warrior might also want to consider how Mother Earth fares in his ancestral home of Saudi Arabia.

The following is an anecdotal story, but one suspects it’s representative of a larger truth. I worked in Saudi Arabia, on and off, between 1996 and 1998, in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu. During my time there, I had occasion to drive up the coastal highway to observe operations at the Yanbu Cement Company, located about seventy kilometers north of Yanbu. (The bin-Laden family was then rumored to have an interest in Yanbu Cement, but I can not confirm it). At the time, Yanbu Cement operated three large kilns, essentially big rotating drums in which the ingredients that go into cement “cook” at high temperature.

In the United States, and in most all of the western world, cement kilns have to utilize pollution control devices to comply with environmental standards. Without such devices, these kilns would emit truly amazing amounts of air pollution. I was therefore shocked to observe a huge, menacing, dirty brown plume that ran for miles through the air above the Red Sea. Approaching Yanbu Cement, the source of that incredible smear on the atmosphere became obvious: none of the kilns at Yanbu Cement were controlled at all. The stacks belched out filthy plumes of soot at a rate that I have never observed then or since in over twenty five years of environmental practice.

This kind of story can be told again and again throughout the developing and third worlds. Those nations are not nearly rigorous about protecting the environment as the west, because environmental controls cost money to install and to operate. Accordingly, if everyone followed bin-Laden’s advice and, using the power of their purses, effectively transferred manufacturing capacity to such nations, the net result would be a far more polluted world.

But, of course, bin-Laden doesn’t really care about the health and welfare of the planet and its inhabitants. He’s just scrambling for talking points that he hopes will resonate with listeners who hate America. Al Gore and his disciples have unwittingly provided him with more ammunition to do so. That doesn’t make Gore a terrorist, but it’s surely further evidence of the unintended consequences that are bound to occur when you abandon science for the sake of a political agenda.

Did Al Gore say it? or Ted (The Unabomber) Kaczynski?

That quiz made the rounds several years ago, after a well-read and underlined copy of Earth in the Balance was found in the Unabomber's hovel.

Big Al certainly draws the nuts. ELF, Kaczynski, bin Laden, and a host of lesser moonbats. We're so lucky he lost in 2000.

Al Gore: "I just hate when it snows but I'll continue my snowjob and take my green all the way to the bank! Ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"

  • DOn

How long will it be before the left will be praising OBL as the new saint of the enviroment and wearing t-shirts worshipping him like they do with Che!

  • Peachey

It is comforting to know that Big Al has at least one friend. The universal convergence of moon-bats is underway. Stand back, more are joining the moon-bat cavelcade daily.

  • USMCSniper

Ahhh,,, Al Gore is proof God watches over fools, because he is almost a billionaire with his global warming scam. Today, Gore does not reveal his net worth, but the fact that he was able to single-handedly make a hundred million dollar investment in Capricorn Investment Group, a private equity fund started by his friend Jeff Skoll, the Silicon Valley entrepreneur and film producer, speaks volumes about the magnitude of his wealth.

  • DOn

and the republicans are the ones who are getting rich and in bed with big business…yeah right. Born rich, Gore and his buddies are laughing all the way to the bank as the idiots on the left chant his moronic mantras about global warming.

Time to forget about spiders-in-his-beard Bin Laden….a non player dwelling in some hole somewhere….The terror count of victims continues to grow as the piles of bodies every day as these lunatic creatures blow themselves, cars, trucks and markets up….scores dead every week in Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon….IT is a nightmare world without any meaning, without any reform, restraint or reason……..More muslims are killed everyyear by fellow muslim terrorists than all who were killed on 9/11.'s a pathology, a scourge on planet earth. Every day in the news, another forty eight or fifty, or seventy pilgrims, or market shoppers, or school children….blown to bits by agents of the most hideous forces. Why? You tell us. Makes no sense at all. NO strategy, no meaning, no possible logical outcome…just more death, maiming, life long injury, suffering and sorrow……NO sense at all.

Al Gore, like Michael Moore & co. are complete idiots and buffoons.

  • trickyblain

Love the logic here. Hitler hated communists. Ronald Reagan hated communists. Therefore Ronald Reagan loves Hitler.

    • Stephen_Brady

Whoops! A little problem in logic, there …

      All dogs are mammals.
      All cats are mammals.
      Therefore, all dogs are cats.

This is the fallacy of the undistributed middle. All A are B. All C are B. Therefore, all A are C.

  • BS1977

    Wrong Tricky…a false syllogism…..A against B and C against B does not mean A is for C.
You must dig deeper to convince the gullible and the sleepy.

    • trickyblain

      Don't you mean:
      A is for C
      B is for C
      Therefore A is for B.

Faulty, indeed. That's my point regarding the terrible logic this article attempts to employ.

      • Stephen_Brady

Don't forget the "truth claims" of a syllogism. Your original point was that Reagan must like Hitler because both of them detested communism. Have you ever encountered a statement on the part of Ronald Reagan in which he expressed admiration for Hitler (any line in a movie does not count!)?

What you said, above, goes like this:

All persons who are Reagan are persons who hate communists.
All persons who are Hitler are persons who hate communists.
Therefore, all persons who are Reagan are persons who loved Hitler.

        It could be re-phrased as:

All persons who are Trickyblain are are persons who hate the KKK.
All persons who are Stephen Brady are persons who hate the KKK.
Therefore, all persons who are Trickyblain are persons who sincerely appreciate Stephen Brady.

There is no causal connection between the first line and the second line in the syllogism, which would lead one inevitably to the conclusion. Though you and I might both hate the KKK, we could be bitter enemies.

        Continuing …

Besides the ludicrous nature of the truth-claim in the syllogism … which itself amounts to a non-sequitur … I think that you're missing the central point of the article. That is, that UBL probably hates everything and everyone on the planet, and could care less about the environment. He's attempting to make points with the common man in the West on what he perceives to be important to us. There's a secondary point that his rhetoric on the issue resembles Western liberals (from whom he probably lifted his prose, in the first place).

Obviously, he missed the meeting in Copenhagen.

Doesn't anyone think this is a bit much? Let's not forget that Al Gore believes he has the science to back him up, however dubious it might be. It is somewhat disingenuous, therefore, to imply that he "abandons science for the sake of a political agenda." It is also absurd to assume that "radical environmentalism" is somehow going to foment "radical anti-Americanism." I mean, how to we make the connection here? And while it is true that poorer countries (esp. China) make far fewer efforts to curb pollution than the West does, this should not make us feel complacent to just keeping more pollution in the atmosphere, regardless of the truth of global warming. The comparison used here is hyperbolic and ridiculous, and represents an insult to intelligent conservatism.

  • Brown Bess

Actually, if you live near a cement kiln in the US, you know that they don't have to have modern pollution controls installed on them and can be a big public health threat.

  • BS1977

Forget that Bin Laden…he is immobilized in some smelly cavern….the main thing is to work hard for the Tea Party, for our Constitution, for reform of liberal socialist money wasting and high taxes. Support a new wave of candidates who will bring fresh air to Washington…and begin to lower taxes and decrease the maniacal government spending. I like Palin. I like Brown, Romney, Hunter….there are even some Democrats who grasp how wasteful the present system is….Vote the socialists out in 2010.

Attorney's are experiencing a financial crunch and the new Hate Crimes Bill means a windfall for them. Sites like this have to be careful: Frivilous lawsuits are not against the law to file, but costly to answer. We no longer produce products in this country, but we still enjoy exploiting each other.

The tape hasn't been confirmed as being Bin Laden.

Maybe FPM should be less concerned about what some tape says and more concerned with the issues facing America.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I heard that Hitler was a vegetarian, so I am going to go eat an enormous amount of meat whether it's good for me or not. That will show him!

    • Stephen_Brady

Hitler was a vegetarian, indeed. It could account for his "meteoric" rise to power!

  • bushlikesdick2

We are wittnessing a revolution like none other in modern history. We can not win this war with conventional military means as Bin Laden has shown us and many predessesors that venture into these lands. It is time for America to change course by cutting off the snakes head. The snakes head is the practice and influence of the Christian religion through Judism. The State of Israel is a liability and it is time to abanden it and replace it with Confusism. We need to combine Jesus's message as God with the wisdom of the philosophy of Confusianism. We also need to remove the idea that Israel is sacred to us.

    • Stephen_Brady

I will not deal with the logical problem you create with your idea of combining Christianity (a religion) with Confucianism (a socio-political philosophy). The Constitution has something to say about religion and politics in the 1st Amendment.

I will say, however, that you continue to fall into the trap that the thought-masters at DNC headquarters set for you, Dicky. That is, you believe that UBL would be all chummy with the West … and especially, the United States … if only we would abandon Israel to its fate.

In accepting this line of reasoning, you fail to note the nature of the religion of Islam, itself. If there had never been an modern Israel. If not one American airman had ever dropped a bomb … or a soldier fired his rifle … at a Muslim, Islam would still be the enemy at the gates of the West.

There are many wonderful people who follow the religion called "Submission". I have known them, studied with them, and taught them in the university setting. But their religion calls for the submission to Allah of the entire world, and it will never rest until that end has been achieved.

You may choose whatever religion or political philosophy you wish, and you can determine which countries and peoples you will support in your lifetime. But as a Christian, I will never cease praying for the peace of Jerusalem.

    • BS1977

Hey BUSHlike….your spelling and grammar are atrocious….go back to grade school you moron.

It's hard to imagine a man (Bin Laden)who wants to use Weapons Of Mass Destructrion
to inflict mass casulties caring about the earth. What an opportunist! He can't help wanting to be in the spotlight. No more videos Binny?

  • 9/11 Truth

More evidence that 9/11 was an inside job! How convenient that the goals of the elite to usher in a global currency & cripple American middle class with Cap & Tax now mesh with Osama's goals? I'm suprised that he didn't mention a microchip implant. OH! that's the next video to be released, don't want to get ahead of the game. It's sick to think of how many American tax dollars were given to the Taliban (govt. documents) and continue to be directed to the Bin Laden's for their cooperation in this fraud.
