Gays Are the New Imperialists

Jonah Goldberg has an excellent column in Wednesday’s New York Post that begins with this pithy bludgeoning of the Left: “So now openly gay soldiers get to fight and die in neocon-imperialist wars, too?”

Goldberg is addressing another loose thread in the radical fabric of lies. For years, the Left has accused the U.S. military of the most dreadful offenses. While excusing the Soviet Army, the Viet Cong, Saddam’s Republican Guard, Hamas, and Hezbollah, they have put forward an image of our men and women as a capitalist Einsatzgruppen barely worthy of stepping foot on their campuses. But when it comes to Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, all of a sudden the Left is fighting for American soldiers.

Radicals face another interesting problem that this issue has broached: Many gay people, far from desiring the life of identity politics the Left has chosen for them, want to fight for their country. They don’t believe the Left’s lies. They don’t take Chomsky seriously—or Zinn, or their cultural studies professors. They are patriots.

Gays are the new imperialists.
