Faisal’s Terror Ties

Faisal Shahzad, the Pakistani-American who tried to set off a car bomb in Times Square, has numerous links to the Taliban in Pakistan and there are increasing indications that he was not a “lone wolf” as was initially assumed. The plot is proof that the Taliban is just as much a terrorist group as Al-Qaeda and must be treated the same way.

The media and public officials were quick to say that the attacker was probably a “lone wolf” and perhaps not even a Muslim. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, “If I had to guess 25 centers…[it’s] somebody who’s homegrown, maybe a mentally deranged person or someone with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something, it could be anything.” General Petraeus, amazingly, has just said that Shahzad is a “lone wolf” that was only inspired by Pakistani terrorists, and did not have direct contact with them. This theory is laughable in the face of new evidence.

Shahzad says he was inspired by Anwar al-Awlaki, a top Al-Qaeda leader in Yemen that has been connected to the failed Christmas Day bomber and the Fort Hood shooter. One report says that he is claiming to have actually met al-Awlaki, the Pakistani Taliban’s leader, Hakimullah Mehsud, and a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the terrorist group behind the November 2008 attacks in Mumbai. Federal officials stress that he may be exaggerating his connections and they have not yet verified his claims, but other links substantiate what he’s saying.

It is known that he spent five months in Pakistan and he has admitted receiving training from members of the Taliban in North Waziristan. His father was a high-level official in Pakistan’s Air Force, which may explain why the authorities have found that his family and that of Emir Beitullah Mehsud, a Taliban leader killed in 2009, share a long friendship. Shahzad also has a friendship since childhood with one of the key operatives involved in the Mumbai attacks, giving credence to his claims of meeting Hakimullah Mehsud and a Lashkar-e-Taiba member.

The Pakistani authorities have arrested at least seven people suspected of being connected to Shahzad, including Muhammed Rehan, who is believed to have traveled with him and acted as his liaison. Rehan was arrested as he left a mosque known to be frequented by members of Jaish-e-Mohammed. Five American recruits that traveled to Pakistan to join the Taliban and Al-Qaeda were arrested at the home of a Jaish-e-Mohammed member in December. Tohaid Ahmed, another JEM member, was detained after he was found to be exchanging emails with Shahzad. Phone records reveal that Shahzad had been communicating with people in Pakistan in the time leading up to the attack and CBS News reports that he flew to Pakistan at least a dozen times in the past 11 years.

Shahzad is now believed to have been trained at a camp run by Qari Hussain Mehsud, the Taliban’s top instructor in suicide bombing and explosives, providing another indication that he was not lying about meeting the top Pakistani Taliban leader, who is the official’s cousin. Qari Hussain Mehsud appeared on a tape to claim credit for the Times Square plot, but he was quickly dismissed. However, officials are saying that his video was recorded prior to the attack, indicating that he knew of it in advance. The YouTube channel that the video was uploaded to was called “Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan” and was started one day before the attempted bombing. It is noteworthy that whoever posted the video did so in Connecticut, where Shahzad lived before moving to Pakistan. This same channel was used to release the two videos showing that Hakimullah Mehsud was not killed as the U.S. had previously thought.

Pakistani terrorists are suspected of financing Shahzad’s acquisition of the ticket for the plane he wanted to use to escape the country and the vehicle he tried to blow up. He was originally put on a Department of Homeland Security watch list for bringing $80,000 in cash between 1998 and 2008. Since 2007, he was not paying bills on time, defaulted on two loans for his home, and is not believed to have had a job since February when he came back to the U.S. from Pakistan. Someone else had to have supplied the money to pay for his rent, his travel, and the expenses of his plot and planned escape.

Strangely, despite the videos claiming responsibility, a Taliban spokesman has denied that the group trained or even had contact with Shahzad. All of the indications are that this is false. It is possible that the Taliban are now worried that the failed plot will make the Pakistani government unable to withstand U.S. pressure for further offensives into their strongholds. It is equally possible that the Taliban’s allies in the Pakistani government have asked them to deny responsibility, as sources in Pakistani intelligence are telling the media that there is no way the Taliban has such capabilities.

The Pakistanis are currently refusing to launch an operation in North Waziristan, saying that its armed forces are too tied up and further action could jeopardize counter-insurgency efforts in the Swat Valley and South Waziristan, even though they recently held 50,000-strong exercises near the border of India. If the Times Square plot is officially linked to North Waziristan and terrorist groups the Pakistanis have been reluctant to stomp out, the U.S. is going to demand the removal of their safe havens there.

Officials should not be so quick to dismiss an apparent homegrown terrorist as being unconnected from the international networks, as anyone sympathetic to radical Islamic causes will seek out the bases in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and elsewhere. Voices in favor of a more law enforcement-oriented approach to fighting terrorism are sure to emphasize “lone wolf” theories, but these “lone wolves” almost always end up being connected to foreigners, and at the very least, homegrown jihad is a symptom of an overseas disease.

I think right now would be a good time to start getting our troops out of the Middle-East and Asia, bring them home to fight Jihad on our soil, ship all recent Muslim immigrants back to their homelands and let the powder keg over there rest for a while. Perhaps they'll end up killing each other, Shiites against Sunnis.

We cannot continue this un-winnable war. We must concentrate on the jihad at home and only by ridding ourselves of the jihadist threat at home can we be relatively safe.

In the meantime, China, North Korea and Iran are all working together in mutual respect to build the nuclear arsenals up. This acceleration can only mean one thing…a biblically predicted Armageddon is actually closer than we thought.

While I agree we should be mindful of the communist threat, I disagree that we can or should retreat from the jihadis. It's best to fight on the enemies' soil, and keep wars' desolation in their yard. Waiting for them to come kill us gives the initiative to them, a cardinal and often fatal sin in any fight. Static defenses have always been a strategic failure.

Allowing the enemy to "rest" and safe haven when you don't have to is also a mistake. Both shia and sunni jihadis would rather kill us than each other, and both say our very existence is an affront to God, so they won't stop trying to kill us wherever we are until they're dead. Waiting for them to develop strength in the WMD age is just crazy.

Retreat or withdrawal would be viewed as weakness and will only encourage them. We shouldn't turn our country into a police state and change our way of life for them, we should go kill them first, keep them reacting to us, make them change their way of life, and make THEM worry about dying at any moment if they keep messing with us and our friends.

You're suffering the same mental illness as the moslems , except yours is benign and theirs is malignant

.a biblically predicted Armageddon is actually closer than we thought.

Wrong, there will be no Armageddon because the Jesus you worship is only a figment of your imagination and the bible is a cuddlemuddle from different authors,a book replete with contradictions and myth. The mythical nonbiblical event you call the rapture will not cover for the crimes you commit in this world. You are after all just a pathetic ignorant human.Cheers.

    • Mike

Don't digress Toma. Our topic after all is Islamic terrorism not the existence of God or Jesus. Insulting other people and their beliefs without a good reason is something we frown upon. You should take a vacation. Relax, get away from it all. Maybe then you could be calmer and think more clearly.

      Cheers :)

It's the immigration!! Why on earth does the US feel this crazy need to admit thousands of Somalis, Pakistanis etc etc….what for? Look at this guy….a sleeper agent….pretends to go to school, be a nice neighbor and all that…then he becomes another Manchurian candidate with a bomb. We are nuts to allow these dregs into our country. Tear up their visas. One way ticket home.

This war is going to become much, much larger before it is over. The issues are far too important and numerous to avoid. These issues are of the type that you can't negotiate. (Slavery is an issue of this type) History has shown time and again that warfare is the only way that a decisive result can be obtained. In other words, if we do not fight 'over there', the war will come to us. It is only a matter of time.

I really could care less that Shahzad is connected to an organized group of jihadists or is a lone wolf acting alone. The fact is he is a devout Muslim and thus as a devout Muslim brother he didn’t all of a sudden become radicalized like many journalist are fantasizing about. The reality is he was radicalized from the time when he was in diapers.

As a matter of fact, all devout Muslims living in the West are in fact already jihadists just by virtue of living here in the West for the purposes of infiltration, demographic conquest, and striving to remove all obstacles for the eventual imposition of Sharia, as all of these various things are also forms of stealth and very deceptive jihad.

In fact, the reality is terrorism is just one form of jihad out of many forms of jihad that the Dar al Islam employs against us, and it is also the only violent form of jihad. All the other forms of jihad, which are also employed far more prevalently, are all non-violent and take place via stealth and deception.

Yet, because GWB misunderstood the true nature of Islam and jihad, he naively declared war on terrorism, which is only one form of jihad out of many various forms of jihad being employed against us, at the same time he also declared Islam to be a so-called Religion of Peace™ being hijacked by a tiny minority of radicals.

Hence, ever since that declaration in 2001, America and most Americans have become totally obsessed with only terrorism, at the same time all the other various forms of stealth and deceptive jihad taking place far more prevalently go completely ignored, unacknowledged, and unchallenged.

The reality is the Global Jihad is the Cold War of the 21st century, however, it has yet to be acknowledge, as Islam like Communism is also a very radical form of totalitarianism. Anyway, can you imagine the US government during the height of the Cold War with the Soviet Union encouraging millions of Communists to immigrate to American and infiltrate our country? Well, today that is exactly what we are doing. We are in fact encouraging millions of Muslims to immigrate to America and infiltrate our country, and that couldn’t be anymore suicidal.

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that it is time to give these Islamists in the west a taste of thier own medicine. I have had enough of talk and high falutin rubbish. The only thing these cretins acknownledge is violence. So lets give them a taste of what they have given us. Yes, we can read the books, be horrified by thier actions and provide commentary as to what provokes these illiterate, stupid, pedophile morons who believe in an entity that would count as evil in any pantheon. Enough is enough. The West unless it rises up and extinguishes this vile barbarism will fail. No longer can we be led by post-modernism, multi culturalism and PC tribes who infest our polity; these people are garbage and deserve to be treated as such. The time for talking is over. The time for action is nigh. And god help us unless we take action. The only thing these Muslim parasites respect is violence. Let them have it in full measure before they let us have it anyway.

As for as Pakistan is concerned, they have been playing the clowns in our government like a warn out fiddle since long before the day the twin towers were destroyed, and they have been using the massive amount of foreign aid the US government has provided them to not only harbor the Taliban and AQ, but to manufacture far more nuclear weapons than they will ever need for self-defense and in anticipation of becoming the nuclear weapons supermarket for the Sunni world as soon as Iran gets nukes and at the same time renders the NPT null and void.

Moreover, why does Pakistan even need nuclear weapons? India isn’t the aggressor and instigator of the conflict between the two countries. In fact, India has never aggressively attacked Pakistan one time since 1947, yet it has been the recipient of repeated aggressive attacks launched by Pakistan.

As a matter of fact, India like Israel is a victim of jihad by virtue of the rough neighborhood both countries happen to be situated in. In fact, Pakistan could get rid of all its nukes and still would never face any threat emanating from India, as India just like all other modern democratic countries doesn’t aggressively attack its neighbors are anyone else.

Hence, Pakistan’s alleged justification for acquiring nukes for defensive purposes is revealed to be an obvious lie. While India’s justification for acquiring nukes, like Israel’s justification for acquiring nukes, is truly for defensive purposes and thus fully justified, as both countries have no other choice if they expect to survive and maintain freedom for their people.

In Iraq, scores, perhaps hundreds killed over the past week in a series of near endless bombings and shootings….same in Pakistan, bombs, attacks and mob chaos…but let's keep allowing these folks to come to the USA, settle here, go dormant for a time, then re awaken with a truck bomb or a machine gun….How many more incidents will it take to convince the PC libtards that the thugs from Krapistan mean us harm….why are they allowed entry to the US?
