No, I did not put acid in your coffee. You read that right. Last night on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart defended the Tea Partiers and criticized the media for painting them with a broad stroke.
In describing the Tea Party rallies yesterday, he said there was “the occasional f—-ing idiot,” which sounds like an insult but was really a way of starting his criticism of the media’s focus on the “crazies.” He then did an interview with a correspondent who pretended to attend one event, who expressed his dismay at not being called anything racist or homophobic. Stewart, pretending to be frustrated, badgered the correspondent for not discussing the issues with the party attendees.
Watch the video below, it’s something I suspect NRB readers will get a kick out of:

Stewart did finish the segment by pointing out Fox News’ hypocrisy by painting the left-wing with a broad brush just as the other media has done to the Tea Partiers, but I think NRB readers can still appreciate the majority of the segment. And frankly, I do think Stewart made two fair points.
The first is that the political spectrums are diverse and I don’t think we can blame Stewart for getting offended at what was said in the montage. The second point is that in the survey of Tea Partiers, Fox News did indeed only highlight the fact that they are more educated and wealthy than the average American, but left out their attitudes about the obstacles facing blacks as being exaggerated and the finding that 30 percent are Birthers. Regardless of where you stand, you can’t say that is fair and balanced.
