No Compromise Over Jerusalem

No sooner did the Obama administration denounce Israel for its building activities in Jerusalem than hordes of violent Palestinian thugs took to the city’s streets. As usual, the Palestinians decided to show the world how sacred Jerusalem is to them by filling it with violence.

That the Arab riots followed so closely after the Obama administration’s very public recriminations against Israel was no coincidence. Vice President Biden, a self-proclaimed Zionist, had trouble containing his anger at Israel. On an official state visit to Israel, his Kodak moments were interrupted when an Israeli official announced that Israel has plans to build a lot of new housing in East Jerusalem. Biden was aghast at the chutzpah. Secretary of State Clinton issued a series of shrill verbal attacks against Israel. Talk about a “disproportionate response!”

To put the Obama Administration’s temper tantrum over Jerusalem into perspective, one has to try to imagine the following reasoning. How dare the Jews construct housing in their own capital? Just because Washington builds housing in the District of Columbia without asking its allies for permission does not mean that the Israelis can build the same way in their capital! Don’t those Israelis realize that the United States has plans to transfer East Jerusalem to the terrorists of the Palestinian Authority or its Hamas overlords?

The official American anger has yet to die down. The State Department is in a huff over Israel allowing Jews to move into the Simon the Righteous neighborhood in East Jerusalem, also known as Sheikh Jarrah. You may recall that Sheikh Jarrah was where a horrific massacre of a convoy of Jewish medical personnel headed for the Hadassah Hospital on Mt. Scopus took place in 1948. Seventy nine Jews were murdered in cold blood and their bodies mutilated.

East Jerusalem was made Judenrein, with its Jews ethnically cleansed, in Israel’s 1948-49 war of independence. Before that Jews had lived in East Jerusalem almost without interruption since King David conquered it. Those attacking Israel are insisting that it leave that crime of ethnic cleansing in tact, un-redressed.

So why does the State Department object to Jews moving into homes in East Jerusalem, homes they legally and legitimately own? One answer may be that the State Department plans to force Israel to turn East Jerusalem over to some future Palestinian terror state, and that will be harder to do if East Jerusalem is filled up with Jews. But that is precisely the reason why Israel should build housing in East Jerusalem.

Israel’s position should be simply that if the Arab world refuses to come to terms and make peace with an Israel controlling all of Jerusalem, then we do not believe that they will come to terms or make peace with any Israel that has relinquished Jerusalem either. The Arabs can threaten Israel all they want about the dire consequences if Israel refuses to turn Jerusalem over to them. Israel’s response should be, “You can’t have it, period.”

And if there were any doubts as to who has the moral and legal right to control East Jerusalem, they were removed in the violent rioting by Palestinians over the opening of the rebuilt Hurva synagogue this week. Tradition has it that it stands on the site of synagogues going back to the second century AD. One synagogue standing there in the 1700s was destroyed, leading to the nickname of the site, the “Hurva” or “the Destruction.”  A later synagogue was constructed on the site in 1864. It remained there until Jordanian soldiers, who were illegally holding the Old City after 1948, demolished it.

The Hurva synagogue is nowhere near the Mosque of al-Aqsa or any other Islamic shrines in Jerusalem. It is located close to the Ramban or Nachmanides synagogue, which was converted by the pro-Nazi Grand Mufti into a mosque in 1948 and used as a factory under the Jordanian occupation. The Arabs have absolutely no legitimate claims to the site. Indeed, the reign of intentional destruction carried out by Jordan after 1948 should nullify altogether once and for all any claims the Arab world has to East Jerusalem.

Under Arab rule (by Jordan), the religious shrines of Jerusalem were systematically demolished, profaned and violated. Under Israeli rule, every religious group is free to practice its religion in Jerusalem and its shrines are protected. Thus, Arabs forfeited any moral claims they might have once had to govern the city when they trashed the Jewish shrines of the city. And if Arabs continue to take to violence when Jews open a synagogue, then there is only one conclusion that Israel can draw: there is nothing to negotiate.

There is no such thing as a Palestinian.
Drive the Arabs into Jordan or into Egypt. It is ZION.

Israel belongs to the Jewish people, period. Israel belongs to God and Israel is God's chosen land and His chosen people. Gid will righteously judge the enemies of Isreal with wrath and destruction. Jesus Christ our Risen Lord will place His feet on the Mount of Olives–and then what will the world say? I can't wait until all the enemies of Israel are destroyed. I am an american, but my heart belongs to Israel. Amen.

What a stupid, pathetic American administration and State Dept: kissing up to killers and finger poking the eye of an ally.

    • Chuckie

Our current administration hates America. Therefore they hate America's allies. True Americans are working diligently on the problem. You should start to see serious changes by January 2011 and more by January 2013.

      • Jim C.

Baloney you dodos. Does general Petraeus hate America? because he said the exact same thing as Obama, for the same reasons.

Israel under a petulant child like Bibi will always try to exacerbate America's foreign policy to force an issue. Obama told them to slow down because their actions endanger American troops, who are viewed as "Israel's proxies." Childish schoolyard scrappers like Bibi think doing this is cute. What they need is a spanking from their Daddy, the U.S.A.

        • Jim C.

It's a matter of not blindsiding the US. What they did shows contempt for our support, which by the way, is as strong as it ever was.

Every American should know the truth

No one should miss this video:

Look to the end ( 10 min.)

  • Robert Bernier

    Do not miss this video:
No! to peace at any price.
To cry peace, peace, when there is no peace, as the Jewish prophet, Jeremiah, taught us long ago, is not an expression of hope but a foolish and dangerous abrogation of reality. It dulls the mind and the aspiration of a people who then become lost and blinded under a veritable veil of deception. Peace is impossible for a nation like Israel without its own demonstration of unassailable military strength and its utter rejection of concessions to an implacable enemy. The Arab world respects strength. It treats concessions with complete and utter scorn. It considers overtures of peace as a sign of weakness and becomes emboldened in its aggression. Enough! No more concessions :

Jeusalem is Jewish as Washington is American and should not be up for negotiation .
The true demographic threat in Jerusalem is the freezing of Jewish building and the limitations placed on the natural growth of the capital by diplomatic initiatives, unless you expand the border of Jerusalem, including Arab neighborhoods – you wont have the area required to allow Jerusalem to expand. In order for Jerusalem to bloom and expand it should remain Jewish and entirely under Israeli sovereignty. Jerusalem should not be up for negotiation, it has always been the symbol of Jewish unity as explained at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2007/12/m

  • Robert Bernier

    Jerusalem is exclusively Jewish.
Arabs do not have any right on Jerusalem whatsoever. It is certainly not the fact that the Mosque of El Akza has been built in Jerusalem that gives the Arabs any right (when the Mosque was built, Jerusalem was already Jewish since 1500 years…).
Mosques have been built in London, Paris, Brussels and other cities. Does that fact give the Arabs any right on these cities ? There is no doubt about the legitimity of the Jewish sovereignty on Jerusalem as described at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/01/2

Since it has paid off so perfectly, there is no reason for the Palestinians, Muslims to do otherwise. It is truer now than it ever was… since obam gave them his blessing. Their accelerated, unprecedented audacity and confidence was expressed shortly after obam’s Cairo speech when PA Abbas said, "we finally have a friend in the White House." Their strategy won them the crowning jewel of Israel; The Temple Mount, and the Gaza, as well. So, is it any wonder that they now use the same proven strategy to take Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the Golan Heights (via Syria). Although the Palestinians are drooling at the prospect of possessing Jerusalem, I doubt it will fall into their greedy, unworthy hands. It is far more likely to fall into the hands of a third, “neutral,” party; the U.N. I anticipate The Internationalized City of Jerusalem very soon… even as soon as this approaching summer.

ViewPoint, fuhgeddaboutid!!! Israel will never give up Jerusalem, least of all to the anti-Semitic, hate-filled UN. Ain't gonna happen. Ever.

I love Israel but you can BLAME the America JEWS for voting for the likes of OBAMA, Clinton and company. I don't understand it unless American Jews are all LIBERAL and blind to effects of voting for the Democraps. GOD BLESS ISRAEL this Christian stands with them forever!!

    • Sam

      Hi Mr. Downie:

Please know that the overwhelming percentage of Orthodox Jews in America did NOT vote for Obama. The more a Jew is Torah based, the more their vote will reflect true values. How this helps your understanding. There's more information you can find on this; for example go to the site on Orthodox Jews in Conservapedia.

    • Sam

      P.S.

As an example, on Long Island in New York, the area where the highest percentage of voters voted for McCain was in a very heavily populated area of Orthodox Jews. And there's more examples. Hope this helps.

    Re-Nakba Now!

  • SFLBIB

The Muslim terrorists commit war crimes by lobbing rockets into Israeli neighborhoods, and the US does or says nothing. Israel builds housing in its own city, and the State Dept. goes ballistic. Makes sense to me.

Another thing. Look at the title of this article, "No Compromise Over Jerusalem". Compromise is a western invention; there is no compromise over ANYTHING with Islam. Islam must have everything, and on its own terms. So why is it a surprise that there is no compromise over Jerusalem?

  • seesthelight

I am grateful to see that others have a love for the people and land of Israel. Those who believe and trust in the One Who calls Himself God and Who has revealed Himself in the Scriptures are those of us who are certain that Israel is the apple of God's eye and all history is His story of this land and these people. How many people have come to a knowledge of the truth that the Man Jesus Christ was a Jew and his feet touched the earth in that land? And how many will finally believe that He is God the Son? Time moves on. There will come a day when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Yeshua (Jesus) is Lord.
We mustn't look to the present administration ,those who lead and administer, to acknowledge this truth. It is the task of all who have believed in that Name.

    • Jim C.

"There will come a day when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Yeshua (Jesus) is Lord."

The betrayal began in 2009. The US president has already ditched Israel as a friend. This was brought home in Jerusalem when Obama made his big speech on April 7, 2009, appealing for a grand US-Muslim global reconciliation. The US president was and still is preparing to tie a Palestinian-Israeli settlement – on Washington’s terms – to such unrelated issues as Afghanistan and Iran as the currency for purchasing Muslim and Arab backing for accommodations of these outstanding terrorist fronts. Different forms of coercion have already started, including the discrediting of the Netanyahu government if it fails to toe the Obama line. The Mainstraem Media is in bed with Obama. In Newsweek yesterday, "if Israel views Iran's would-be nukes as the gravest existential threat ever, and if Israel needs American support in confronting the threat, then it should give America something in return" IRAN IS AMERICA'S MAJOR ENEMY TOO!!!

  • Turbeaux

Israel’s position should be simply that if the Arab world refuses to come to terms and make peace with an Israel controlling all of Jerusalem, then we do not believe that they will come to terms or make peace with any Israel that has relinquished Jerusalem either. The Arabs can threaten Israel all they want about the dire consequences if Israel refuses to turn Jerusalem over to them. Israel’s response should be, “You can’t have it, period.”

Herein lies a serious mistake that many pro-Israel pundits make. It is not te just the Arab world that is at odds with Israel. Instead, it is the entire block of Muslim countries that altogether constitutes the Dar al Islam. Indeed, it is not only Arabs who are virulently anti-Israel and anti-Jew, but also the entire 1.3 billion strong international Muslim ummah.

Hence, the above paragraph should read thusly: Israel’s position should be simply that if the Dar al Islam refuses to come to terms and make peace with an Israel controlling all of Jerusalem, then we do not believe that they will come to terms or make peace with any Israel that has relinquished Jerusalem either. The Dar al Islam can threaten Israel all they want about the dire consequences if Israel refuses to turn Jerusalem over to them. Israel’s response should be, “You can’t have it, period.”

  • Jim Darlington

Christians should swarm to Israel in her defense, simply because Jesus was a Jew my friends. I wish they'd just invite a couple million of us and then claim all the land that was King Solomon's.
There should not be a Muslim within 200 miles of Jerusalem who has not foresworn Jihad and who has not pledged and proven a commitment to co-existance and to free choice in religion.
Instead the world listlessly watches as we slide toward another holocaust. Our treasure should be spent to stop the Atomic Jihad of Iran that's before us, not to bail out failed corporate contributors.

    • Jim C.

No, AMERICA (not "Christians") should swarm to Israel's defense (it has) because it is a liberal democracy smack dab in the Middle East with whom we are friends and allies.

  • david

People with sense saw what kind of people B.O. and those around him were, long before he got elected. On the other hand, 78% of my fellow Jews, in their naivete, stupidity and reflexive liberalism, voted for him. Now he is showing his hand. Some of his former supporters are coming to their senses, like the 96% of Israelis who have an unfavorable opinion of him. Many American Jews are still in a state of denial, though. How can a gifted people, so bright and competent in so many ways, be so stupid in the ways that matter most of all? Have we ever had such an anti-American, hateful president, or one who is so anti-Israel?

    • Sam

Please see my response to Mr Downie above.

  • happy infidel

to David: why can so many people be so stupid, the answer is quite simple, when you take most racial groups, Israel in this instance, as a whole they are extremely smart and productive for the world, which leaves the unfortunate situation of the individual which is basically stupid. If you look the majority of Jewish persons have come to the conclusion that The current pres of the US is now firmly against them, yet you will always have a small minority who just cannot see the writing on the wall until it is far too late.

America and much of the free world will be much better off when Mr (term used lightly) Obama and his cohorts are firmly butt kicked to the curb and a real Govt is inserted to clean up the mess of an islamic president.

When we finally get some people in power who are not afraid of islam, who will back Israel and fortify it to withstand everything islam can throw at it the world will be a happier place.

  • ribeve

I think you all miss the point. It has always been a matter of obedience.

First, they must stop all pagan worship. Over and over again we see it in the Old Testament and second they must accept their messiah.

GOD will make her enemies to be at peace with her. Other wise, well . . . . . .

    • cochavi1

Christianity is full of paganism and Mithraism. Get rid of it before you preach to us, but then you will no longer be Christian. Life is full of these riddles….

      • Jim C.

And no doubt cochavi1 you are smart enough to understand the story of Jesus, it's meaning and context. But that's not enough for these "allies" of Israel. They would have you accept the "magic" nature of the man who obviated the old covenant with God. To them, you're "almost" there.

For the life of me I don't understand how these folks don't see how unbelievably condescending they are when they list their magical reasons for their "love" for Israel.

From all the talks that have been held, we should know if there is any agreement possible. Israel should not let their security depend on USA. 'Oops, sorry bout that' just wont do. Armageddon???? Anyone??

  • Jewdog

It is necessary to understand some basic Islamic theology to "get" Jerusalem.
Islam teaches that Allah's message was not only given to Muhammed, but also to the various prophets of the Bible, but that subsequently, the Jews and Christians falsified Allah's message when writing their scriptures.
Two lessons emerge: First, the Holy Land was home originally to Muslims, not Jews. Second: Judaism and Christianity are illegitimate, as are all non-Islamic faiths.
For example, in the Shahada, or Muslim statement of faith which begins the Koran,, Jews are referred to as those with whom God is angry, and Christians as those who have been led astray.
Islam embodies extreme supercessionism. That's why Muslims have built thousands of mosques on top of Christian churches (ex Hagia Sophia) and Hindu temples. It's why the Taliban blew up the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan.
Jerusalem? Despite not being explicitly referenced even once in the Koran, is and always has been considered an Islamic city with no Jewish or infidel roots.
Islam reflects the narcissism of its founder.

What a bunch of baloney I'm hearing here . The pals are rioting first off because that's what they do best , and of course the announcement of new settlements .Yea it coincided with the Admin.criticism , which came the same day .Obama does not hate Israel , in fact he is the ONLY US president to go to Cairo , and declare unequivically IN THE FACE of Israel's enemies that the bond between the US and Israel is unbreakable …so cut the B.S. and partisan spin . US criticism of the settlements goes back to Reagan and every Admin .in between .It is understood , that if the US to be a mediator in any agreement , it must atleast appear neutral .So , the US "gets angry " and at the end of the day the relationship goes on as usual .

  • Crusader

Say what you will about any other issue , Obama has publicly given Israel his unqualified support ,and vthat of the US . As for Jerusalem , this country had promised to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capitol and move our embasy from Tel Aviv to Jersusalem .It was a campaign promise of Bush sr., and Bush jr. ..has it happened ?
It was Secretary Baker in the Bush Admin. who spat out at a Cabinet meeting regarding Israel " F–K THE JEWS " . It was NIXON who threatened to cut off aid , and in fact DID for a short time , while Israel was in the midst of a war that it was winning "a bit too well " .
So please keep your partisan politik B.S. confined to REALITY AND HISTORY .
There is no doubt amongst people who know what they're talking about , as to where Obama stands on this issue .
And BTW , I SUPPORT Israel putting settlements WHEREVER It damn well pleases , but I also understand what the US position is regarding DIPLOMACY . If you want to cry foul , then demand of our politicians to know why our embassy has not been moved to Jerusalem , and this goes back well beyond Obama's Admin .

  • 9-11 Infidel

There will never be any compromise over Jerusalem. Read the Hamas charter sometime. And does anyone think that the PLO/Fatah organization sees anything differently? Not a chance. Why? As the Hadith says:" The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time [of judgment] will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews and kill them; until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!” (Sahih Muslim book 41, no. 6985);" Compromise on Jerusalem will only give way to the yielding of more land until the Jews are tossed into the sea. Salvation for Israel won't come from the Obaminites or their anti-semite trolls. However, la-Adonai Yeh-shoo-ah-tah.

  • Neicee

The alleged dispute is simply the matter of the Obama Administration having a goal and those goals must be met, at all costs. It matters not a twit to them they are usurping the wishes and security of a sovereign nation. No, they have an agenda and Israel is the stumbling block. I am so embarrassed by my government, yet so proud of PM Netanyahu.

I don't believe the Israelis would make such a blunder by announcing this if something else was not in the wind. Oh, yes, there is something else Obama is working on and he's been trumped. This was calculated by Israel and it caught Biden by surprise and enraged our fearless leader to the point of lashing out. Obama has also miscalculated the American people and their solidarity with Israel. It's a high stakes game.

  • Crusader

Well then , whatever was "in the wind " was also there during ALL previous administrations , for ALL had criticized the settlements . I suggest you look a bit deeper into Israeli politics , and you just may find the reason why the Interior Minister made such an announcement at such a precise time .
I howevert find it MORE embarrassing , that we have not moved our Embassy to Jerusalem .
Get your "Obama conspiracies " out of your cross-hairs , and you might actually see a bit more clearly and figure out whats going on .

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/michiganruth michiganruth

you know bottom line is: the Palestinians still have never said they believe that Israel has a right to exist. considering that one side doesn't even think the other side deserves to exist, how can you hold Israel responsible for anything?

my fellow Jewish brothers and sisters are so in love with liberalism they didn't even think about this when they gleefully voted for the black guy. I just hope they are learning…they have a chance to make it better in 2012.

The truth is we are hated by the Muslim world. It is not only political correctness, but also
political madness to hear the words of hatred aimed at the West and not accept them as
reality. Even the threats of Osama bin Laden were taken from the eighth and ninth chapters of the Koran.

"When you meet the unbelievers strike them in the neck…. If you do not go out and fight,
God will punish you severely…Whenever you find the polytheists, kill them, seize them,

It is really amazing that 1.4 million palestinians live and work in Israel and enjoy the prerogatives of Israeli citizenship, but Israeli Jews are being criticized for wanting to live in their own political and religious capital. In addition to murder, torture, and overall brutality the palestinian authority can now add hypocrisy to its list of virtues. palestinians can live in Haifa and Nazereth, but Jews become aggressors if they want to build 1600 appartment units in east Jerusalem.

This guy can bluster all he wants, but every fair person knows that Jerusalem will eventually be divided in a final peace settlement. And if that bugs any right-wing Jewish person, they will be dragged kicking and screaming back to Israel when the inevitable partition happens. And perhaps that final settlement can contain a provision that any future Arab rulers of part of J. not allow any profanation of any religious shrine.
