Leftist Lies and the Arizona Shooting

Pages: 1 2

After the monstrous shooting in Arizona last week, surely we can all agree that we’ve got to pass Obama’s agenda immediately and stop using metaphors.

At least I think that’s what the mainstream media are trying to tell me.

Liberals instantly leapt on the sickening massacre at a Tucson political event over the weekend to accuse tea partiers, Sarah Palin and all conservatives who talk out loud of being complicit in murder by inspiring the shooter, Jared Loughner.

Of course, to make their case, they first must demonstrate:

(a) Right-wingers have called for violence against anyone, especially conservative, pro-Second Amendment Democratic congresswomen;

(b) Loughner was listening to them; and

(c) Loughner was influenced by them.

They’ve proved none of this. In fact, it’s nearly the opposite.

Needless to say, no conservative has called for violence against anyone. Nor has any conservative engaged in any “rhetoric” that was likely to lead to violence. Every putative example of “violent rhetoric” these squeamish liberals produce keeps being matched by an identical example from the Democrats.

Sarah Palin, for example, had a chart of congressional districts being targeted by Republicans. So did the Democratic Leadership Committee. Indeed, Democratic consultant Bob Beckel went on Fox News and said he invented the bull’s-eye maps.

Similarly, every time liberals produce an example of military lingo from a Republican — “we’re going to target this district” — Republicans produce five more from the Democrats.

President “whose asses to kick” Obama predicted “hand-to-hand combat” with his political opponents and has made such remarks as “if they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun” — making Obama the first American president to advocate gun fights since Andrew Jackson.

These are figures of speech known as “metaphors.” (Do liberals know where we got the word “campaign”?)

It’s not that both sides did something wrong; neither side did anything wrong. The drama queens need to settle down.

The winner of the most cretinous statement of 2011 — and the list is now closed, so please hold your submissions — is MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, who on Monday night recalled Palin’s statement, “We’re not retreating, we’re reloading,” and said, I quote, “THAT’S not a metaphor.”

Really, Chris? If that’s not a metaphor, who did she shoot?

Ann Coulter, American hero. Look forward to A C 's column every week. Always a light upon the truth of the matter.

    • Rifleman

I look forward to Wednesday night or Thursday morning for that reason myself.

  • Johnny

Don't forget about the piece in Salon calling for the murder of Palin

    • BS77

Rush LImbaugh, Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin, and many others have been relentlessly vilified and attacked by leftists for years; Ann Coulter needed security and was screamed at during her speeches, by the goons and thugs of the left. President Bush and VP Cheney were treated to unbelievable hatred by the left …..no satire or condemnation of them was considered too gruesome or extreme….and yet the conservatives, such as Sean Hannity , Rush, Laura Ingraham etc etc remained calm and maintained their positions, staying dignified and restrained in their response. This illustrates the distinct difference in character between the left and the conservative. The left sees no hypocrisy or irrationality in what they do, which shows a type of moral oar intellectual blindness.

  • Rifleman

Thanks for bringing back the Coulter columns. I agree with her that now that the dp/left started this, conservatives should shove it right back down their throats. If they keep getting away with it, they'll just keep doing it.

  • Walter Scott Hudson

I love Ann. To consider the assertions of the Left over the past few days is to wonder whether you've been hit over the head and awoken to a world run by autistics. It's as if he entire mainstream media has suddenly become cognitively incapable of processing a metaphor. Of course, they haven't. They're merely feigning the condition to make an inane rhetorical point.

    • Prineville Sage

Not to quibble, Walter, but my daughter has Asperger's syndrome. Autists are at the extremely bright end of the intelligence spectrum, and it is an insupportable generalization to say they can't think in metaphors, even if they are usually very concrete in their thinking.

  • Henry Presler

Ann is exactly correct, or, as one might say "RIGHT ON TARGET!"

Transcript of Countdown with Keith Olbermann from January 12:

Keith Olbermann: Tonight it is my honor to bring to you Sheriff Clarence W. Dupnik live from Tucson, Arizona. Good evening, sheriff, how are you doing tonight and how is your investigation going?

Sheriff Dupnik: Good evening, Keith. I'm doing great and I'm pleased to announce that we have one of the conspirators in custody, and my department has a working theory of the case which we hope will soon lead to additional arrests.

K.O. Additional arrests? So the early rumors that the shooter didn't act alone are actually true?

S.D. That's right, Keith. We have identified at least two conspirators who were directly involved in the assassination attempt. Even as we speak, my officers are coordinating with the FBI and President Obama's justice department to build the case against these additional conspirators. I am confident we will be able to make additional arrests before this week is over.

K.O. What can you tell me about these additional arrests? Can you tell me who these additional conspirators are, and how they were involved?

S.D. Actually, that's exactly why I wanted to come on your show tonight. The general public needs to be made aware of this conspiracy and its perpetrators so that they can be on guard against it, and if necessary help bring the conspirators to justice. The first conspirator I will be asking for an indictment against is Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska and current leader of the Tea-bagger terrorist organization….

One thing this all shows is that the left looks at the right as a bunch of hate-filled types capable of violence at any moment, and so when a Democratic Jewish Congresswoman gets shot by a guy who reads Mein Kampf, it is an open and shut case of the tea party egged on by Rush Limbaugh. The truth is that the tea party, and conservatives in general are the polar opposite of the far left and the far right, because they believe in small government and maximum liberty, which is not at all what either the far left or the far right believe in. Furthermore the man who did this was insane, which is a condition that much of the country simply doesn't understand. I still see him as responsible for his actions, for instance, if you believe the Congresswoman is interfering with "grammar", and must be killed, why shoot a nine year old girl? Nonetheless, the left should also be held responsible for their inability to gather facts before indulging themselves with a paranoia of their own.

I hate to insult idiots by lumping Chris Matthews, Kieth Olberman, and Rachael Madcow in with their group, but they are the king idiots. Not only are they idiots, but they are shameless media whores, ready and willing to do or say anything to further the cause of the democratic party. I stoped myself from saying the world communist party because that would be hateful and we cant be hateful/truthful any more. Its hard to believe that all three of these knuckle heads actually believe what they are saying when the fact clearly point to the opposite conclusion.

With all due respect, I'm sick and tired of having the DEMOCRAP Party called
      DEMOCRATIC Party.

The right name is DEMOCRAT PARTY and never DEMOCRATIC PARTY as it
will mislead too many morons outside its rank and file

Nice expression, Jacob! Maybe we could start referring to the Democraparty.

THE SICKEST THING WAS SEEING THE SHERIFF getting high fives, hand shakes, pats on the back, and other encouragements as he smiled and laughed. This event was the happiest and most cheerful Memorial service I've ever seen!

Michelle's face, stuck in sad mode, was ready to burst into tears the whole night! I bet that hurt as much as Hillary's face that's stuck with a smile!

The MSM spin on the Arizona killings by Laughner are a smoke stream to divert America's attention to the fact that Jared Lee Laughner is one of theirs. Like them he is a flaming insane liberal wacko. Check his gene pool. There are probably strands from Pelosi , Franks ,Oberman , Mathews and Reid.

THE TUCSON TRAGEDY AND THE STATE OF OBAMA'S PRESIDENCY

If as the desperate, vicious political left claims that the "toxic" political atmosphere in Arizona caused by SB 1070 and right wing anti-immigration racism was the motivating factor in Loughner's shooting rampage, then the tragedy was an unintended consequence of Barack Obama's victory over Arizona's John McCain. Indeed, because of Obama's victory Jane Brewer replaced Napolitano as Arizona's governor. This in turn led to the signing of SB 1070 (which Napolitano would have vetoed) thus unleashing the firestorm and frenzy over illegal immigration which supposedly influenced Loughner to strike.

    continued

  • http://apollospaeks.townhall.com ApolloSpeaks

But in truth McCain's defeat of Obama would not have saved those 20 innocent people from tragedy that day. Obama or no Obama, 1070 or no 1070, Tea Party or no Tea Party Jarad Loughner would still have been a twisted devil worshipping drug abusing kid with a deadly festering grudge against Gabby Giffords that started three years earlier. As the flag burning Loughner hated American politics as much as he hated America, as he worshipped a skull as his God signifying his love of killing and death for its own sake, he would have shot Gabby Giffords all the same…….

I would like to add my take on the subject of "hate speech", which I think came up before last Saturday's outrage in Tucson.

The problem I have with the term "hate speech" is, you can use the term to describe any expression of opposition to a policy, a program, a course of action in which you have an emotional, ego or practical vested interest.

Take for example, the issue of forced busing for school integration. Fortunately that issue, which tore apart the 1970's, has lain quiet for some time. But what if someone were to propose busing children all the way from West Bloomfield, Michigan (where I live) to inner-city Detroit? If I, or anybody else opposed having our children bused to Detroit, is that "hate speech"? Today, if I oppose Obamacare because it conflicts with my interests, is that automatically hate speech? Shoud liberals be able to propose whatever they please and then, in the name of suppressing "hate speech", squelch all oppositon from those who don't share their visions? Think about that.

    • 888jah

That's why we have a constitutional right to FREE SPEECH!!! I'm angry about the way our constitutional rights are being taken away. Is this also hate speech?

      • Black Flag

We have a right to speak freely, but that doesn't mean it won't have consequences. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally in agreement with you AND would prefer social discourse to follow a more natural, unrehearsed and honest tone…but it is not going to happen because when it does, it becomes an amber alert for days.

Hate speech is protesting at funerals because the dead did not believe or behave like the Westboro Klan would have them believe/behave.

Does anyone here know that Ann Coulter and Bill Maher once dated? Okay, that was back in the Nineties, but this column reeks of payback all the same.

    • USMCSniper

Every young lady has had a date from hell in her life!

    • alan g

What it reeks of is raw truth. So what it they dated. She made a good choice to dump him if she did date him.

    • Black Flag

Right! I thought it was more recent, but nonetheless there was more than platonic friendship involved. She definitely is bitter, but Maher never promised her more than a good time. Ancient history Ann, accept and move on teflon.

I think Sarah Palin has this behavior right: she calls it "blood libel." Krugman, Matthews, the S.C. Carolina congressman who had the nerve to attend that peculiar memorial service – all will have to answer for the consequences of their blood libel lies.

  • Kazooskibum

Just days after a Democratic adviser comes out and says that Barack Obama “needs” an “Oklahoma City” event so that he can connect with the American people.
A Democrat ,who just happened to have challenged Obama & voted against Pelosi, suddenly gets shot, along with a conservative member of the 9th Circus court of appeals.
Are we suppose to believe that it is just a coincidence?
Obama and the Democrats are the ones who had the most to gain from this.

  • Ghostwriter

Can't we keep politics out of this, just this once? Let there be some time for grief. This whole excercise is pointless and unnecessary.

    • USMCSniper

What do you mean we? It is the left and the MSM allies who immediately inserted politics into a national trajedy by a madman.

    • Black Flag

I completely agree. It takes more than one individual to argue (well, maybe there are some exceptions), so whatever anyone has to comment on, it would be great if you focused on the tragedy instead of petty politics, or the criticism of those you disagree with for the sake of it. It is a tragedy that has happened to people, families and our collective psyche. It is terrifying and heartbreaking, and my thoughts are with the victims and families.

  • WarPossum101

The more I read about this joker, the less I'm able to identify his politics as left or right. He's just a loooooooonnnnn.

If you combine the ratings of every flunky on MSNBC and CNN you would not get half of the audience of Rush. Why do we let these loud mouths that nobody listens to control the debate?

  • antileft

Although I am not American, I ´d like to express my symphaties to the completely innocent victims and their families of this irrational, hateful and inhuman, sadistically-fixated killing rampage. My deepest sorrows go especially to the family of an innocent 9-year old girl. I mean, if children in the WESTERN world become legitimate targets, what is the POINT of any culture and civilization?! I cannot possibly imagine what her family must be going through! I will pray for them, as well as for all the others ! As far as political ´ reasons ´go -the guy´s favourite readings were Mein Kampf and, looky-looky, communist manifesto!! For me, investigators , psychiatrists first and formost, should center around this, yes, it´s exactly the stuff the murderous swines are born and bred with. And last: as for this psychopat, or, even better , sociopath, if any difference exists between the two, ship him to some medical lab, and use untried concoctions in the pre-testing phase, so that at least some use comes out of his flesh !
