In that four-year-old column, I supported Chafee’s opponent in the Republican primary by pointing out that “the only person who hasn’t figured out that Lincoln Chafee is a Democrat is Lincoln Chafee. As the expression goes, if Chafee switched parties, the average IQ on both sides of the aisle would go up.”

My column got results: Chafee is no longer a Republican.

Why is it that MSNBC, Keith Olbermann, and Chris Mathews have the right to be so vitriolic
with their comments to mainstream Americans such as Sarah Palin. I hardly watch MSNBC
anymore because of them. They are the ones completely out of touch with the American people.

    • Rex

I would never watch MSNBC in the first place !

    • Gary from Jersey

No one with half a brain watches MSNBC, which explains its non-existent ratings. I wonder why writers on our side give it so much credence, given that there are plenty of other better-known leftist whipping posts.

Let's focus on the WaPo, NYT and the networks. It'll be much more effective when they realize they don't have MSNBC to buffer them anymore.

      • Elliot

I believe a few folks watch it to keep track of the double standards on display.I'm with you though, I'm perfectly okay with avoiding their shenanigans .I keep up on the internet and don't contribute to their ratings.

    • ebonystone

I think the tingling in Chris' leg has ascended to his brain, and fried about half of what little he had.

  • Walter Scott Hudson

This one had me muffling several laughs at work.

  • BS77

K Olbermoron's ranting and raving makes Sarah Palin look better all the time Does anyone watch Olbermoron anymore??? Only the most indoctrinated nut jobs.

The left's relentless attacks upon Sarah Palin are a good indicator of her high moral standards, good character and desiribility as a candidate. A Romney Palin team is looking good!!!

    • The_Lord_Regent

Picking someone other than Romney would make it better.

    • hijinx60

Romney is a left-leaning RINO and noone should even consider him as prez.

      • hijinx60

We need to remember that 2012 isn't that long away and ZERO has already began to campaign. The left is in fear of its' life and will attack with great vitrol any candidate that it percieves as viable. Any conservative in the public eye is in a lose lose situation. It doesn't matter what they say or do, they will be attacked whether it is Palin, Romney, Huckabee, Gingrich, or anyone else.

  • 888jah

These left wingers live in ivory towers. The Palins live in the real world. The liberals are running scared. Cross hairs and target was just an expression for a peaceful plan to take our country back and reestablish our constitutional government. Anyone who handles firearms knows these terms have double meanings. It's a shame the liberals aren't smart enough to figure it out! Or maybe they have and are just being ruthless. They're running scared!!!

    • guest

haha, the Palins live in the real world. Yea, and they have the reality show to prove it.

      • Stephen_Brady

Jealous? After all, that's what leftist ideology is based on.

        • guest

Ouch, quite a zinger. You must be the envy of the schoolyard!

          • Stephen_Brady

I was, indeed, until I retired my professorship …

      • 888jah

To guest, Your comment isn't worth an answer.

        • guest

right, because saying left wingers live in ivory towers is such a penetrating insight. I think it's large numbers of conservatives who live in fantasy land, imagining that Muslims are plotting to take over the world, Mexicans are planning to take over the southwest, liberals are mostly closet Stalinists looking to create a one party dictatorship, corporations left to their own devices will make sure we have clean water, safe food, etc. etc. Yea, sounds like the real world to me.

          • 888jah

To Guest, Is your ivory tower crumbling?

  • davarino

Cant we all just get along? We need to stop all the retoricalizin retoriks and words and such that make people sweat and breath hard. Just give us some playdough and we will let the grownups do all the deciding.

I love it when the left wants us to play nice when ever they are down. What we should be doing is kicking their teeth in, symbolically of course, till the democratic party is liberal again.

  • tanstaafl

    Maher might take the fifth.

    • Gary from Jersey

He might drink that fifth given the quality of his comments.

  • Steve Chavez

michellemalkin.com has a post with the Left's attacks on Bush and Palin. "KILL BUSH" t-shirts. "Bush is the only dope worth shooting!" Protest sign with a drawing of Bush's decapitated head held up by his hair. Postage stamps with a pistol pointed a Bush's head. A picture of a RIFLE, WITH SCOPE/REAL CROSSHAIRS, touching PALIN'S head with her daughter sitting next to her! There are hundreds more in other websites taken from protests against the war. AFTER 9-11, I attended a protest by our local Albuquerque Peace and Justice Center and many had signs that said, "Justice not Revenge." About ten people had large signs with "WE DESERVED IT!" Isn't that the MOTHER OF THEM ALL?

  • NickMcAvelly

This notion of there being a 'climate' which promotes acts of violence is worth examining. A climate by its very nature is a far-reaching and multi-faceted phenonemon. It is absurd to suggest that there now exists in America a 'climate' which promotes acts of lunatic violence because of one single event – someone using a particular graphic design on a map (especially when it has been shown that other people have used a similar design.) If those who insist that this 'climate' exists want to say anything meaningful about it then they must actually examine the phenomenon which they refer to. That would mean investigating the motives of the many people who have targeted Sarah Palin by launching ferocious ad hominem attacks at her and her family ever since she entered the national political scene. It would also be worth asking whether these people talking about this 'climate' believe that it was this that caused Nidal Malik Hasan to do what he did.

  • garretso

Nobody hates more than the left, and nobody is subject to more of that hate than Sarah Palin. As Olby illustrated in his statements, she's damned if she does, and she's damned if she doesn't.

    • Dennis X

      sorta like the President

  • USMCSniper

Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.” “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”

    • StephenD

Hope you don't mind, saving this quote for another time. I'm certain to find ample opportunity to use it. Thank you my friend!

  • Stephen_Brady

In my opinion, the reason the Left attacks Sarah Palin so ruthlessly … and efficiently … is because they see her as the greatest threat to Obama, at present (despite her "unfavorables", in various polls). If this were to change, and someone would "emerge" from the pack of Republican Presidential hopefuls, the Left will abandon their attacks on Palin and go after that person, with a vengeance.

We must remember that the Left is not motivated by truth. They are simply motivated by power, and that means keeping Obama in the White House long enough to destroy the nation's capacity to recover from him. Whether they are communist/Marxist/socialist fellow-travellers, anarchists, or whatever label, their allegiance is to the Democrat Party, and to Barack Obama. Truth is relative to them. Their obsequiousand slavish devotion to the DEMs is a given. The viciousness of their attacks is immaterial. Power is everything.

  • trickyblain

It seems that every article on FPM that deals with Palin only focus on one thing: Palin as victim of something. Seldom to never are there articles telling us why we should listen to this woman, we only know that the "left hates her" and folks should be mad at this inexplicable injustice. Never mind the fact that, straight from the get-go, Palin's M.O. is attack. From her over-the-top condescending introduction to most Americans in the 2008 RNC Convention to her appearances on FOX, her primary role is that of a nonhideous (looking) Rush Limbaugh. Yet most articles from the right cover two areas – why we should feel sorry for her and why she is bad for the Republican Party.
True, there are select first-grade level essays out there on "why she is good." These largely involve her "being a good mom," "having common sense," "being patriotic and loyal," and "being mainstream." While these traits would make for a great Yellow Labrador, I've yet to see anything telling us how these (arguable) traits qualify her for the presidency.

    • deek

You're really not that "tricky" blain. Since you are being rather "dishonest" in your interpretation of a Sarah Palin "attack" – I quit reading the rest of your dishonest post. If you can't man up to what they do/did to her.

Palin has had the most foul and obscene words thrown her way.

You admire Obama and think he's so bright. Well, if he was so bright don't you think his "handlers" would have leaked his marks? Nothing! No papers, no nothing. The left managed to find out everything about Bush and his marks. (Remember the great distress when his marks were better than Kerry's?? lol) Obama, nadda. Remeber when the left demanded that Palin release her medical records (including her gynacologists)? Obama, nah – healthy specimen, no medical records required.

I don't want Palin to run for Pres. I want Palin to stay doing what she's doing – driving all of you completely nuts. lol

      • trickyblain

I'm actually not really that "blain," trickydeek.
Eye rolling? Head shakes? Lots more eye rolling?
Sarcastic winks, for the Love of Dear God?
        Nah.
        She's not juvenile.
        Nor is she shallow.
        Nor classlessly sarcastic.
        At all.
Deek, sorry bud, but righties love her preceisly because she "drives the 'lefties crazy." Or that "liberals loathe her." Or she's a "maverick"
with "common sense" (demonstrated by driving the lefties crazy and liberals loathing her). as far as I can tell, there's not much else there. I do not think she is stupid, or evii – but that's all I get.
So, take away the whole "the other side hates her, she must be great — and, a GILF!" thing, what else is there in terms of making public policy? Enlighten me as to her nonattack appeal…

    • QSuzy

The far-right extremists think anyone that the left 'hates' is qualified to be the Commander-in-Chief.

      • trickyblain

A much more succinct version of what I was trying to say above!

And "hate" is such a strong word. I just don't think most folks like her all that much.

        • deek

          Right on. lol
You were saying? No response to my comments, just more nonsense. You are not content with ripping the woman apart for posting her thoughts on where the gov. has erred, you now want her to state a Presidential platform so the ripping could/would deepen. Basically, she couldn't say anything that you would agree with. Not deep enough – how dare she have a Flag behind her – how dare she use a teleprompter (only one person allowed) – how dare she blah blah; she's so darn shallow. How dare she get involved in an "incident" that she was accused of instigating – the trollop forgot her place and should have just come to the public square and taken her stoning. You guys really don't know if you're coming or going. You just know that she's not for you and you're going to make sure that everyone knows. Never mind that you all come off sounding like bullies and very shallow.

  • QSuzy

Annie, just because you've fooled some righties into thinking that poor Palin is a victim doesn't mean you've fooled me.

The extreme rightwing's strategy is obvious: Let Palin keep talking as much as possible so that any GOP pres candidate in 2012 will seem moderate next to Palin.

  • William Griffith

    QSuzy –
"moderate" in your lexicon meaning one who is limp wristed and lacking any semblance of gonads to confront the Progessives/ Radicals ? Yes ?
BHO and his cadre of marxists/ nihilists have awakened and angered the "bitter clingers" and the political back draft is just getting started !

    • QSuzy

If you think our nation wants an extremist winger on the right or the left, you are wrong. Moderation is a good thing for our young democracy. Because you compare our democracy to p–nus problems of your own is your problem, not anyone else's.

  • lisag

Whoever runs for president in 2012 needs to be able to stick to their guns. They better not turn and run away from conservative ideas. Let's not let the media or the GOP push someone on us that they think will win over moderates or work with the other side. Bush had to clean up the White House after Clinton, but the next Republican president has to clean up the whole Federal Government. God help them.

  • Lori

Sarah does not have to speak much! The left shows their true colors by speaking about themselves! All I see Is A big Power Trip! These people try to be On! and totally make fools out of themselves! no wander they are so confused! Looks to me like A Lot Of show and no go! This man Olberman Seems to be A Bully in his own behavior! I do not know the man but he seems to be A whimp!

  • Greg

I'd like to see a Michelle Bachmann / Sarah Palin 2012 ticket since the men have had their balls put in the freezer of political correctness in this country. Get out of the way and let the women do the heavy lifting or say what you mean and mean what you say you chicken sh!t bunch of egg shell walkin losers.

    • Greg

I'll tell you who has blood on their hands. This mealy mouthed president that seemingly has no paper trail and a congress that won't fight wars to win them. This idiot Obama takes 2 months to send more troops because he want to study what the Generals have laid out before him, even though he has no military strategic experience. He goes golfing 4 times a month and flies around the world acting like a big shot, spending money like a drunken Kennedy (that's redundant!). They all like to throw lavish parties and toast each other, dance all the while troops die since they can't shoot first. They want us to give them more protection since they're so damn important. Here's a thought, do your job and you won't need protection because the people will protect you. There's not enough money spent on their interests and posh lifestyle, no, now they want 24 hour body guards. Well you can kiss our collective asses. Come 2012 you progressives in both parties will be history. You will submit to the will of the people.

  • anon

Actually T*blain running a state qualifies a person for President much more than organizing a community. Let the ameteur step aside so someone with actual qualifications can clean up the mess his inexperience has made.
