Hillary Clinton’s Jared Loughner Illusions

Pages: 1 2

Mrs. Clinton suggested as much when she linked “the crazy voices that sometimes get on TV” with Loughner’s atrocity. These unnamed crazy voices (the ones on TV rather than the ones in Loughner’s head),—Secretary Clinton assured viewers of the Arab program “Sweet Talk,” are “not who we are”—just as the extremists within the Muslim world are “not who you are.”

But even this seemingly innocuous assurance appears suspect.

Last month, the Pew Research Center released disturbing poll numbers demonstrating the popularity of terrorist groups throughout the Muslim world. Muslim respondents in Jordan gave Hezbollah a 55 percent favorability rating, Hamas 60 percent, and al Qaeda 34 percent. In Nigeria, 45 percent of Muslims saw Hezbollah in a favorable light, and 49 percent gave both Hamas and al Qaeda the thumbs up. In Indonesia, the poll numbers were similarly grim: 43 percent favorability for Hezbollah, 39 percent for Hamas, and 23 percent for al Qaeda.

The positions are extreme. But the populations taking them generally aren’t described in such terms. If Muslims in “moderate” nations such as Jordan, Nigeria, and Indonesia take favorable views of terrorist outfits, what might a poll of Muslims in, say, Saudi Arabia show?

Here’s where Mrs. Clinton’s equation of Tuscon’s Safeway Massacre with acts of Muslim terrorism really breaks down. There is no statistically registering, let alone statistically relevant, group of people in the United States looking favorably upon Jared Lee Loughner’s slaughter of innocents. But when a Muslim terrorist shot dead eight at a religious school in Israel in 2008, 84 percent of Palestinians surveyed by a respected Palestinian pollster approved of the attack.

If the terrorists were merely Muslim versions of Jared Lee Loughner, we might be able to medicate or institutionalize them away. If Jared Lee Loughner were an American version of Mohamed Atta, we might be able to eliminate or separate such menaces through force. But neither crazy nor evil is that simple to stop.

that last part about the polls is interesting, as for the rest its politics as usual. if anything this shows american ethnocentrism, relating fanatics to lunatics when we don't even understand the root of their motivations. religion in the US is dieing, (prepared to be flamed) so its hard for us to understand the depth of its involvement in their rational processes.

the same priest that bashes gays in the US would be promoting the lesser jihad in the Arab world.

randam, you are a moral relativist with no rudder. There is a huge difference between U.S. European, Latin American, Middle-Eastern cultures, and frankly I prefer U.S. culture to any others.

Oh, yes, you have trouble with spelling too: it is dying.

-The United Nation Human Development Index ranks nations by life expectancy, literacy, education and GDP per capita. The top 50 encompass 700 million in Judao-Christian nations; Muslim nations encompass 5 million people (out of 1.5 billion people).
-Nobel SCIENCE prizes awarded to America in last 50 years? 171. ALL Muslim nations? 3.
-Number of universities in US and UK? 3,600. ALL Muslim nations? 600 (for 1.5 billion people).
-The UN's Arab Development Report on books translated per million people: Hungary 519; Spain 920; Israel 380; Arabia 4.
-Tunis Arab League: 76% of Arabs, ages 15 to 45, are illiterate.
-Patents are evidence of a nations creative activities: new drugs, medical care, electronics, satellites, the internet, food processing, cars — everything we need to live a civilized life: Total world patents (2007)? 3.8 million. America holds 2.1 million. ALL Muslim nations combined hold 1,000.
-The UN’s Gender Empowerment Measure ranks nations by women’s equality: Muslim nations rank at the bottom.

Odd, isn't it, how liberals can't acknowledge the truth?

Clinton is starting to look more and more (physically and mentally) like Frances Fox PIVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hillary Rodham Clinton has never done anything significant in her entire life and her inflated opinion of herself is downright laughable. If she had not chased and married Bill Clinton and hung on his coat tails she would never have been a "carpetbagger" New York Senator from Arkansas, and for damn sure she would never have been an also ran failed contender for the Democrat Party 2008 Presidential candidate nomination. Hillary Rodham Clinton has never gotten one single job on her own anywhere in her life. And when she got them she botched every single one of them. But now this inept failure is the Secretary of State and again failing miserably in every way.

    • scum

In what way is she failing, exactly?

Here are examples:______Edward Kennedy's lawyer, Burke Marshal, who was a friend and colleague of Robert Truehaft of the CPUSA along with her Yale mentor Professor Emerson got her the job on the Watergate committee staff. She was outrightly fired by general counsel and chief of staff of the Watergate House Judiciary Committee, Jerry Zeifman, for lying, outrageous behavior (throwing tantrum tirades), unethical conduct, and serious Constitutional procedural violations. Mr. Zeifman, general counsel and chief of staff for the Watergate Committee, said he fired her, "Because she was a liar," in an interview. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality. Had she she submitted briefs like she wrote to a court she would have been disbarred."______Hillary Rodham failed her Washington DC Bar Exam at least once

An excellent and accurate assessment of Hillary Rodham Rodham's claim to fame and contributions to this great nation!!!

Sniper, she made more money than Bubba did as governor. She was quite successful in law, and her family is rich. Granted, politically she never would have made a name for herself without Bubba.

      • USMCSniper

She only got her position at the Rose Law Firm as a political favor to Bill Clinton when he became Attorney General of Arkansas. And she was only made a partner in the Rose Law Firm as another political favor to Bill Clinton when he became the Governer of Arkansas. Her job there was funneling misappropriated monies through Edward Hubble for political purposes. She also deliberately had all the records of her activities at the Rose Law Firm burned when she was under investigation for Whitewater. This has been well documented. Her political appointments to corporation board positions at Tysons Food, Wal Mart, and other organizations where she really did nothing but collect monies were always for political favors owed her husband, both when he was Governer, President, and later as an ex-President. She doesn't even write her own books – and her editing according to her ghost writers is light skimming at best. She has ghost writers like Barbara Feinman, who wrote “It takes A Village” and she stiffs them by not paying them in full even when she gets multi-million dollar

Despite this article, support for Al Qaeda and like-minded organizations that opposed the U.S. military presence in Arabia is actually on the steep decline.

  • BLJ

Hillary Clinton is a joke. She has as much credibility being Sec of State as Obama does being President. To equate a nutjob like Loughner to Islamic Terrorists is insane.

  • DogWithoutSlippers

Back in the '90's and 2000's I would poll my audiences on "if Hillary Clinton ran for President how many people here would vote for her?" I asked this question at 100's of shows and the same general response was apathetic. It was simple to draw the conclusion that People just did not like or trust her.
Her comments and comparisons of terrorists and sick nuts show what she's really about. Yes, we were spared her as President, but the general dislike of her insured Obama getting the reins. Clinton is a very weak and self-centered woman and not Presidential timber. Now we have to wait till 2012 to get rid of the Community Leader-in-chief!

  • DogWithoutSlippers

On news clips we see Hillary, head high and laughing like she's a goddess – makes me sick the phony look of how cool she is!

  • QSuzy

The definition of terrorist is someone who commits terror whether he/she is Islamist, Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu or secular. The Tuscon shooter certainly meets that definition.

It is a false belief to think only Islamists commit terror or to think that somehow, because an individual is a lone nut, that he isn't a terrorist. Mrs Clinton is 100% right.

    • BK_in_OC

      QSuzy,
Is the threat from the Tuscon terrorist shooter over?
Is the threat from Islamist terrorists also over?

Do you see the not-so-subtle difference between the two? Oh well.

      • trickyblain

"Is the threat from the Tuscon terrorist shooter over? "

A 32-year old man was just arrested on charges of threatening to kill a congressman. A Democrat. The man was talking about the gov't "stealing" his money.

So, no, it is not over. As long as you have weak-minded people who think that their troubles in life are caused by a political party, and having these silly notions validated by fame-craving pundits and pols, it won't be over.

Sorry state in life (Unstable US young person/ME young person) + Scapegoat (Democrats/The West) + Enabler of this worldview (talk radio/Imam) = Potential for disaster (Terrorist Loughner/Islamic terrorist).

      • QSuzy

I don't see any difference between the two. Just because one episode of terror is over, it doesn't mean his terror act was any less an act of terror simply because it's over……just ask the victims.

      • aspacia

        Great point BK.

  • BLJ

    QSuzy,

You are so wrong it is almost laughable. Get your head out of the sand and take a look at the facts that are emerging about this guy. I know facts can be inconvienient sometimes but give it a try.

You must be one of those pitiful people who still believe in Santa Claus.

If I were Secretary of State,I would have told those kids this,"The man who did this in Arizona is a madman. He did this act because of his own insanity. Most Americans don't like him. Something should have been done about him a long time ago." Sadly,Mrs. Clinton didn't do that. She just did her silly babble that doesn't help anyone.

  • QSuzy

Do you really think Islamic nuts aren't terrorists? Just because one is a nut does not mean they're not guilty of terrorism.

  • FPM.Com Subscriber

Ms. Clinton is over simplifying the matter in a politically expedient way which denies the basic problem of Islamic terrorism … a very well oiled 'progressivist' whitewash that should fool (by now) absolutely no one!

  • FPM.Com Subscriber

    Good article!

  • ebonystone

What is so absolutely unreal about all this is the way that the leftist establishment– both government and media — get things completely backwards.
When faced with Islamic terrorists killing people in the name of their ideology — such as the Beltway snipers, the Fort Hood Killer, and the North Carolin SUV killer — the Left can never see the ideology, and insist that they all had "mental problems".
But when presented with a really mentally ill murderer, they immediately insist that he's a right-wing ideologue, a follower of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and/or the Tea Party. It's becoming clearer and clearer that Leftists are suffering from mental disorders themselves.

  • suprkufrB

Hey, I'm not so sure she's wrong on this one. As I understand it, only someone with a serious mental illness could be persuaded by the religion of peace. These wingnuts are all the same, but our enemies have a billion times as many of them as we do.
