An Invented People Despite Some Doubters

The Father of Palestinian “Nationalism” and His Hero

Some conservatives, most notably Elliot Abrams, have criticized Newt Gingrich’s observation that the Palestinians are an invented people by saying that even if they are — (and there is no real question but that they are) — they’ve been around long enough (50 years, or since the creation of the PLO in 1964) so that we need to deal with that fact — not. What makes anyone think this is a people even today? Last spring I spoke at Brooklyn College. My speech was attended and then obstructed by a sizeable contingent from the Brooklyn College “Palestinian Club” — at least fifty people, all ethnic Arabs claiming to be Palestinians. During my talk I referred to the Palestinian death cult, its admiration for Hitler, its determination to wipe the Jewish state from the face of the earth, its eagerness to kill any Jew and to blow up its own children in the process. I said it was a “sick, sick culture.” But when the members of the so-called Palestinian Club erupted at me, what they said was “Why do you want to lynch all Muslims?” (This is on video available on YouTube or on our site — under “Videos” — for anyone who wants to check. It comes in the Q&A period.) This does not sound like a nationalist movement.

But the evidence is that Palestinians are a political fiction for a movement whose organizing desire is the destruction of the Jewish state and expulsion of the Jews is far stronger than this small incident. In 1948, 80% of the so-called “Palestine Mandate” had been given to the Hashemite minority in control of Jordan. The Jews were given half of the remaining 20% and the Arabs the other half. A nationalist movement would surely have accepted the partition and then laid claim to the 80% controlled by the Hashemites in Jordan. No such thing happened. Instead the Arab states including Jordan attacked the Jewish state with the intention of destroying it.

The upshot of that war was a Jewish victory in 1949. Whereupon Egypt annexed Gaza and Jordan annexed the West Bank — all the territory that had been offered to the so-called Palestinians and rejected by them.  There was not a peep out of the Arab world — or out of the so-called Palestinians — over this rejection. Why? Because a Palestinian state was never their agenda. Their agenda was and is the destruction of the Jewish state and the expulsion of the Jews from the Middle East — or failing that, their absolute subjection as a hated minority without access to state power.

Hamas is not a national movement. It is a fanatical religious cult which seeks a Muslim Empire throughout the Middle East and — in so many words — the extermination of the Jews. That’s in their charter. Is there an objection to this Nazi agenda from Abbas and the “moderate” terrorists of the West Bank? Not at all. The PLO has declared it will not recognize a Jewish state, has said that Palestine will be Jew free, and has formed an alliance with the Hamas Nazis.

The agenda of the Arabs in the Middle East is not nationalist — that went out with the vile dictator Gamal Abdel Nasser. The agenda is Islam — an Islam whose prophet calls for the extermination of the Jews and whose leaders call on their Arab brethren to finish the job that Hitler started.

I agree …the so called palestinians don't want ''peace ''…they desire the destruction of Israel…the ''peace offfensive '' is just a trojan horse or fifth column …a means to an end ,or war by other means …it is propaganda crafted to appeal to the gullible fools and useful idiots in the West

Evil and Islam will not win in the end….They cause conflict and chaos, but the day is coming when those who go against Israel will be Smite, it is as absolute surety according to God's Word and Promise!

Pakistan is an invented country and guess who is it's biggest supporter, it's biggest funder of military, it's secret service and the terrorists that are sent out to kill Indians?. Why, Uncle Sam, of course.

In place of calling it "peace process" we must call it "peace sceance".

  • Flipside

I just went to a school day where a second grader gave a report on her home country of Palestine whose capital is Jerusalem, whose President is Mahmoud Abbas, and whose product is olives. I am inclined to think this second grade girl is real and David Horowitz is the invented person.

    • ziontruth

Muddying the waters again, I see.

For the umpteenth time: The question isn't whether a land or a state is invented—lands can't be invented, and states can't be anything but invented. The question is about a particular nation. Real nations are formed by evolving over time; this fake non-Jewish "Palestinian nation" was cooked up from scratch in the 1960s.

      "…and whose product is olives."

The only thing the Arab colonist land-thieves in Palestine produce and export is terrorism.

    • kinggging

      That was Brilliant!!
Israel should have expelled all Arab and Palestinians out of Gaza Strip while the rioting was going on in Eygpt. This way they would be easier "watch its back" in order to concentrate on the border along the Golan Heights. Israel having to defend to fronts in "V" shape is impossible.

    • Asher

You are wrong, Jerusalem is the Capitol of Israel and God's chosen Holy City. "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut to pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. Zechariah 12 2 Watch as the Prophecy comes true exactly as it is foretold and be amazed!

so that's what you do when you're not posting Jew hatred – you're a pedophile hanging out with second graders! Busted!

    • joy52

It's too bad the Palestinian lie has been perpetuated for decades. Lying and having the truth told does cause stress. Teaching children to hate is wrong as well(but happens wherever there are muslims). Does not change the truth. Children should not be lied to, but it is happening.

    • lematah im menuvalim

      You say: blah blah blah.

We say: Every moment in time that Israel continues to exist: you lose. Every moment in time that we, the Jewish People, continue to breathe and proudly hold up our heads, you lose.

      Too bad for you, jerk.

Now for the next antisemite …

    • bearone7777

Well of course you would, because you are making comments out of IGNORANCE, and you do not seem to know what you are talking about. The little girl also is being fed lies by her family. Jerusalem belongs to the Jewish people. It has for over six thousand yrs. enough said. Besides in the end Islam will die as will all the foolish people that think that it is a religion.

Where is this school, anyway? Detroit?

    • UCSPanther

      Epic fail right here…

    • drtruth

That little girl is just a casualty of her background of lies. In order to propagate 1 lie you have to create another and so on and so on. Lies lead to more lies. Therefore the little girl is real but her heritage is very very very unreal. Anyone who believes different is also a liar or living in denial and ignorance.

    • NotaBene

Damn Palestinians, stubbornly continuing to exist…what's their problem? Can't they just fade away like, uh….the Sumerians?

    • kafir

David is real. The girl you mentioned has been lied to as there is no way a thinking adult with an IQ above 80 would believe the things you claim she reported. I'll correct it for you. There is no country called palestine. As a result, there is no capital. Mowmow abbas is a terrorist leader. You were correct about the olives. Many second graders belive in Santa Claus too. Not this girl, I'd think.
      allahu snackbar!!

  • StephenD

Here we see the stark contrast of truth verses lies. Which do you think will ultimately prevail?
What real "good" can come from supporting a lie? It must and cannot be. The truth is if the folks in the West Bank and Gaza put down their guns there would be peace. If Israel put down her guns there would be genocide. No, my money is on the truth. Gingrich, keep telling the truth!
    Viva Israel!

My only exception with this article is that I don't believe that Islam is the issue. It is the age old Arab/Jew conflict. Islam only came along later to give a religious bent to the hatred. The rest of the Gentile world has just piled on in the anti-Semitism.

    • ziontruth

"My only exception with this article is that I don't believe that Islam is the issue. It is the age old Arab/Jew conflict."

This isn't such a clear either/or, because Islam is Arab imperialism. Though not all Arabs are Muslims, and most Muslims are non-Arabs, conversion to Islam means Arabization—to one degree or another—of anyone who converts to it.

From the Torah's point of view, Islam is the vehicle through which Abraham's request that Ishmael too be given a good share was fulfilled. However, his descendants already have more than enough, and their coveting of the share given explicitly to the sons of his brother Isaac will not go unpunished.

"Islam only came along later to give a religious bent to the hatred."

Actually Islam was the first motive for Arab anti-Zionism and only later was supplanted by nationalistic arguments. From the 1890s until after World War One, the main complaint of the Muslim inhabitants and Ottoman authorities in Palestine regarding the Zionists was their refusal to accept life as dhimmis (second-class apartheid subjects) under Islamic rule. Portraying it as a nationalistic struggle of Arabs vs. Jews came after 1918, in response to Western colonialism as well as Zionism. The Phakestinian "nation" narrative, of course, came much later—only in the 1960s.

Asher, the Arabic Pedophile rapist, robber, slave-owner and mass murderer of the Jews, Mohammed, created the Devil's cult, Islam, to defy civilized laws and tradition in Christianity and Judaism, especially the Ten Commandments – that's why the Devil which is both Socialist Hitler and Islam's god, hate the Jews so much through whom God graced humanity with such significant commandments. The Ten Commandments is the basis for modern and civilized Western laws – if not, there would still be pagan Roman barbarians feeding Christians/Jews and slaves to the lions or crucifying them for example!

  • Katharina

Gingrich is so brave – a rarity indeed, among the many coward Western politicians! Actually Michael, most Palestinians are Arabic conquerors – that's why even many Arabic Palestinian Christians have so much hatred for the Jews! The racist and imperialist Arabic supreme race unites these Jew-haters despite that Jews and Christians share the same God whilst Islam's god is the Devil! See –

Palestinian Christian revisionism has revived replacement theology
    By Melanie Phillips – March 22, 2002

…..The reason, he says, is that Palestinian Christian revisionism has revived replacement theology. 'This doctrine was key in fanning the flames of the Holocaust, which could not have happened without 2,000 years of anti-Jewish polemic,' he says. After the Holocaust the Vatican officially buried the doctrine, the current Pope affirming the integrity of the Jewish people and recognising the state of Israel. But, according to Andrew White, the doctrine is 'still vibrant' within Roman Catholic and Anglican pews. 'Almost all the Churches hold to replacement theology,' he says.
The catalyst for its re-emergence has been the attempt by Arab Christians to reinterpret Scripture in order to delegitimise the Jews' claim to the land of Israel. This has had a powerful effect upon the Churches which, through humanitarian work among the Palestinians by agencies such as Christian Aid, have been profoundly influenced by two clerics in particular…….

Few here probably read the Jewish Forward. Pity. Agree with him or not, JJ Goldberg is no slouch:

    • ziontruth

If you cross-post this, then so do I cross-post my response.

Yeah, an article that makes arguments from British colonial policy and international law. Thanks for a good reminder as to why Jewish nationalists should never base the rightfully exclusive Jewish national claim to Palestine upon 20th-century history and international law. Far better to base the claim on more solid ground—the fact that the Jews are the only true indigenous people of Palestine, if you insist on an argument that doesn't bring religion into it (for all the good it's going to do—anti-Zionists have accused me of quoting the Bible even when I never said a word in that direction).

One point from the article is, once again, about muddying the waters, here:

"Palestine was a political entity in international law, not just a geographic one, and its inhabitants were legally defined — and universally described—as 'Palestinians.' Some were known as Palestinian Jews, some as Palestinian Arabs. The term was in general use long before 1977."

Once again, that's not the issue. If you use the term "Palestinian" to mean "local to Palestine" (compare "Californian"), then there's no problem speaking of Palestinian Jews and Palestinian Arabs. The problem began when people—first Arab propagandists, then the rest of the world—started using the term "Palestinian," without any further qualifier, in contradistinction with "Israeli" or "Jew." Such usage makes two false implications: That the Arab settler-colonist land-grabbers in Palestine constitute a nation in its own right, and that that nation is the indigenous of Palestine to contrast with the "Zionist colonists."

The truth needs to be spoken out that, if the term "Palestinian" is to be used as a national rather than geographical reference, it can only mean "Jew." No other nation than the Jewish nation can be called the Palestinian nation. The Jews are the only Palestinians, and the Arabs are the settlers here, the land-thieving colonists who must evacuate their stolen territories if there is to be just and viable peace in the region.

Psalm 83 describes an End Times war in which the Arab nations including the Philistines attack Israel. If this Psalm actually is an End Times prophecy then the descendants of the Philistines actually do still exist.

Personally I believe they are among the inhabitants of Gaza, but not Judea and Samaria. So what if they all speak Arabic today. They were forced to convert and to change their language by Muslim imperialists some time ago.

The inhabitants of Judea and Samaria are Edomites, Moabites and Ammonites who moved in after the Romans expelled Israel in the first century. Just because they have lived on borrowed land for almost 2000 years does not mean it belongs to them.

Zechariah 2 and 9 speak of the fact that God gave Gaza to Israel. They will occupy it sooner or later, probably after another provocation by the Arabs. (Psalm 83)

If you think the word of God is irrelevant or somehow superseded by the Qur'an you have another think coming. If you think the human race has the ability to solve its own problems you have another think coming.

    • ziontruth

"If this Psalm actually is an End Times prophecy then the descendants of the Philistines actually do still exist."

Among the Jewish sages it is agreed that the descendants of the Philistines, as well as those of the Amalekites, Gibeonites and many other Biblical peoples, still exist, but they also say we can't identify them today, so operatively speaking it's a moot point.

As Maimonides says, the prophecy of Gog and Magog is there for the purpose that the believers shall watch and be filled with faith. It's not for helping us plan out the future.
