Terrorist Unity and the Push for Statehood

On Thursday, a day after Wednesday’s announcement of a Fatah-Hamas rapprochement in Cairo, Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas said he would keep pursuing peace talks with Israel. Almost concurrently, top Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar said Hamas would stick to its stance of neither recognizing nor negotiating with Israel, but “if Fatah wants to negotiate with Israel over trivialities, they can.”

Notable here is that Abbas cannot “keep pursuing” talks with Israel because he has almost totally abandoned such talks since 2009. Instead, his statement appears to reflect a strategy of retaining his image as a moderate despite the reconciliation with Hamas—and al-Zahar’s grudging agreement suggests Hamas is willing to play along with the game.

And at whom is the strategy aimed? Not at Israel, which, Abbas knows, would not negotiate in any case with a Palestinian government that includes Hamas. As Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu put it on Wednesday:

The PA must choose either peace with Israel or peace with Hamas. There is no possibility for peace with both…. Hamas aspires to destroy Israel and fires rockets at our cities … at our children….

Probably not at the U.S. either. Senior congressmen have already threatened to cut off aid to the PA if the deal with Hamas holds. The Obama administration—which has already come out against the PA’s push for a unilateral recognition of statehood at the UN in September—also reacted coolly.

But if, as observers generally agree, the Fatah-Hamas deal aims to allow Abbas to present himself as the leader of a united “Palestine”—both the West Bank and Gaza—at the UN in September, thereby strengthening his pitch for statehood, and if the deal can’t reasonably be seen as an attempt to raise his stock with the U.S., then a likely target is Europe.

Abbas knows that merely getting the standard General Assembly bloc of Muslim and underdeveloped countries to recognize “Palestine” would have little impact. Europe—and especially the key countries Britain, France, and Germany—hasn’t yet taken a clear stance on the statehood push. Abbas knows he can’t have “peace”—that is, can’t get along—with both Hamas and Israel, or Hamas and the U.S. for that matter.

But Abbas would like to get along with both Hamas and Europe. That is, he would like to have “unity” with Hamas and a ringing European endorsement of his state, too. Being able to claim he represents all of “Palestine”—while still professing readiness for nonexistent “peace talks” with Israel—could be a way of getting Europe on his side.

Europe's moral standards are disintegrating. Even the American people (many) are morally obtuse. In is inconceivable that so many Americans are well-disposed toward this dangerous Muslim-born president with deep sympathies for the world of Islam; this only nine plus years after the 9/11 Muslim-terror atrocities. Obama is furthering the spread of the most radical interpretation of Islam throughout the Middle East, Asia and North Africa. It is no accident that Obama sides with radical terror regimes like Iran and Syria, while abandoning former allies. In light of all this, why wouldn't Palestinian leaders act in such a brazen manner?

  • WildJew

David Wilder (Hebron), asked "how Israel should deal with PA's intention to declare a state," concluded in the following manner:

"….Just as G-d hardened Pharaoh's heart, so too, today, He is throwing dust into the eyes of our enemies, blinding them, dulling their senses, and leading them down a dead-end road – leading, not to Israel's destruction, rather to their own obliteration. This does not mean, under any circumstances, that we will have an easy time of it. Far from it. Dead end roads aren't necessarily short, and they can be quite bumpy. But the chances of another Arab state on our eastern border, created with Israel's blessings, have hit the lowest level they've been at in years.

It won't be easy, but we will prevent creation of a Palestinian state. G-d is watching over us. G-d is protecting us, even from ourselves….."

Israel should prepare for the likely possibility that the Western world will recognize Hamas & the PLO and financially support it. Europe will likely support a known terror group such as Hamas, al qaeda, the Muslim brotherhood, etc if that group is violently opposed to the Jewish State of Israel. Under Obama, the US will join Europe only IF our Congress joins Obama.

The reason why is obama and maybe 50 billion to make a state. WildJew is right.

  • stern

Of course, as soon as the EU has "studied" the Hamas/PA agreement, it will conclude that Hamas has now "moderated". And the billions will simply continue flowing into Pal coffers.

    • ObamaYoMoma

The Euroloons are submissive dhimmis, if they don’t provide billions in aid to support the perpetual genocidal jihad being waged by the Islamic world via their proxies the so-called Palestinians against the Jewish unbelievers in Israel, the millions of unassimilated and un-integrated Muhammadan immigrants living in Muhammadan no-go zones ruled by Sharia as parallel societies within Euroloon society will riot and raise holy hell inside Europe. The Euroloons realize this, which is why they submit to the authority of Islam like submissive dhimmis and pay their Jizya with willing submission.

      YOU CAN SEE!!!

Oh, give us about another 20 years and some knucklehead political figure will suddenly come to the conclusion, "I think we've made a mistake. They are trying to destroy everything good." By then a lot of very good people will have died and been discredited by these visionless morans who seem to think that the angry, angry and doubly backward Islamists are actually the oppressed ones. I personally think that many of you commenting here need to run for some position of public office. You've got your finger on the pulse and could hopefully bring some sanity and reason back to our people.

    • Fred Dawes

You understand the political system all to well; but i think when the kids of the big boys start to become muslims it will be 10 years before, "we the people" are foced to fight and the good people will die by the millions but the evil one's will die by the billions, Yes I mean a third world war, obama and his Rats want just that a mass murder inside the USA.

This article points to the key role of the Europeans in the Palestinian decision- making process. The Europeans after all can pressure the U.S. and should they go along with the recognition declaration leave the U.S. isolated in its support of Israel. However Prime Minister Merkel has indicated she will not do this. I am also concerned however about the firmness of the U.S. on this. It seems unlikely that President Obama would undermine the long- standing relationship with Israel, break its promises and policy but one can never be certain. In any case with 'Hamas' part of a Palestinian government the message is that Peace is not to be negotiated. But of course astute observers have understood that this probably was the case also with 'Fatah'.
I would also point out Abbas' strong criticism of Obama for undermining Mubarak. A new Egypt has come into being, one less favorable to Israel and most likely to the U.S. and the West. Abbas has decided to go with this new Egypt even if it means turning his back on the U.S. This says a lot about the effectiveness of the present Administration's policy so far.

Senior congressmen have already threatened to cut off aid to the PA if the deal with Hamas holds.

Hmm…there never should have been aid provided to the so-called Palestinians that are in reality the proxies of the Islamic world, as the perpetual genocidal jihad being waged against the Jewish unbelievers in Israel, no matter how gullible and naïve American politicians are, is permanent and will continue to be waged against Israel as long as Israel continues to exist. Just like the greater global jihad at large will also be waged perpetually against unbelievers as long as unbelievers continue to exist that haven’t been forced to submit to the authority of Islam.

Indeed, we should always oppose all jihadists no matter where they are waging jihad against unbelievers, and that includes against the Jews in Israel, the Christian Serbs in Bosnia and Kosovo, the Buddhists in Thailand, the Hindus in Kashmir, Jammu, and Mumbai, the Christians in the Philippines, the Atheists in Chechnya, the Christians and animists in the Ivory Coast, and on and on and on ad nauseum. As Islam is at war against all unbelievers and thus we should support all unbelievers facing Islamic aggression and that includes in Bosnia and Kosovo, where the US like useful idiots was duped by taqiyya into fighting a jihad for the benefit of Islam. Indeed, Bush I, Bill Clinton, and Bush II, along with their incompetent administrations, should all be denounced as the gullible useful idiots they are, and so should all politicians that enthusiastically supported that monstrosity.

Israel and the Free World's people have a huge and very frightening problem. And that is, that the US/EU and the UN keep taking the side of Muslim terrorists AGAINST non-Muslim innocents.

The U.S. administration, France and the UN have blood on their hands. With VERY STRONG U.S. backing, French military and UN troops went to war against black Christian innocents in order to conquer the Ivory Coast for Islam. Another huge victory for global jihad.

A Plea for the Cote D’Ivoire:
    Faith J. H. McDonnell on Apr 15th, 2011

Senator Jim Inhofe warned the UN and the State Department “that they would have blood on their hands.”

Ouattara’s troops were using machetes. “They were slitting people’s throats, anyone — men, women, children…

Ouattara’s men circle Simone Gbagbo. Inhofe said that the thugs had pulled out her hair by the roots and then went to the streets, displaying her hair to mobs of cheering Ouattara supporters. Again Inhofe repeated his warning to other Sub-Saharan African leaders, saying, “This could happen to you. This could happen to your wife.” http://frontpagemag.com/2011/04/15/a-cri-de-coeur

UN Peacekeepers? Give them their proper name: UN Soldiers for Global Islamic Conquest.

Ruthless and cruel French military handed over Christian President Gbagbo, his wife and son to their enemies for abuse. What terrible things are Quattara and his followers perpetrating against them in private? The Koran commands to show no mercy to non-Muslims. The UN, French military and their U.S. backers are fully responsible. They are allowing it.

There are pictures of terrified captured black Christians on the internet. They are deeply aware of Muslim barbarism. 1,000 Christians were hacked to death or burnt alive in recent days. There is no one to rescue them and Gbagbo’s family. No one to help.

A photo on the internet shows an Ivory Coast black Christian man and woman holding identical signs – a desperate plea to the world for help. This is how America and France are now seen by victims of Islam.

    UN-USA-FRANCE=ASSASSINS

We ought to be massively protesting in the world’s city streets. Which nation is targeted next by the US/EU/UN for barbaric Islamic conquest and how long is the list? Israel has always been at the top of the list.

Horrifying and Evil. The utter horror of kidnapped Christian children. Their lives forever destroyed by excessively cruel Islamo Fascists who are determined to make the children exactly like they are. The children whose G-D is the Creator; the G-D whose infinite mercy and compassion is beyond words to express and whose Biblical requirement for all humanity is KINDNESS.

Bible, Micah 6:8 And what does the L-RD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your G-D.

Why the silence from "moderate" Muslims? Why the silence on this crime against innocent humanity from the pro-Islam, anti-Free World UN?

G-D help these innocent, defenseless children.

Hamas Charter of Religious Hate and Religious Mass Murder:
'Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims. Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.' “There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad.”

The Palestinian Authority's Beliefs = Hamas' Charter http://www.pmw.org.il/specrep-27.html

Egypt created the PLO. The PLO Charter calls for the destruction of Israel.

The Arab League's Charter states its goal is to eradicate the Zionist entity.

The entire Free World has a MORAL responsibility to prevent an illegitimate Muslim terror state from ever coming into being.

Our American Government has abandoned what is right for money, as they
have been selling the American people down the drain, for outside cash, insuring
that they and their families are rich in the future world and have places of
honor, we know they have been bought. There is little over two years to
rectify by strong and militant action to right the American Nation and the
hardest part is to do it with a population of weakened people unprepared to
take over responsibility for theselves and all of American life. It will be a failed
generation except for maybe 30% of the population which must shoulder
the burdens. The Political class has us in a bind and we must reach out
past it to strong people to make the hard decisions and take harsh action.
When these leaders rise up and we back them, don't wait up…………..William

Abbas has always been part of the two headed Palestinian hydra, pretending "moderation" as in ability to co-exist with Israel to advance the Muslim agenda by stealth while the other head Hamas carried out open srael bashing by physical terrorism and Pallywood propaganda. No Muslim leader can or will deliver moderation in the long game, just its takiya fraud. Whenever a Muslim leader shows signs of true moderation, he's killed off. So it was just a matter of WHEN Abbas would turn, not IF. Israeli Jews who have larded the West Bank with money thinking to tempt Palestinians into moderation through economic gain look like gullible Charlie Brown when Lucy yanks the football away for the nth time after promising this time it will be different.

Fatah and Hamas have now calculated they can advance their pincer grip openly and will gain more than they will lose by holding hands in the open. Europeans and their millions in support monies are indeed the chumps Palestinians judge them to be and will allow yet another Muslim cause to become yet another wedge between Europe and the USA. Obama the European (socialist) Muslim is undoubtedly onside with the Palestinian project but cannot be seen to embrace it as most Americans are not onboard yet. (Ironically, that would be Christian Americans as most Jewish Americans continue to contribute the bulk of the Democratic Party's funding and hand over their votes to the Israel backsliding party and its POTUS. Their leftism trumps their Jewish heritage).

Why this is a good thing: For all those who hate Hamas should be celebrating. Hamas was fearful of the popular revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia, and the discontent that has been brewing in Gaza over the last few years was about to reach a tipping point. A few years ago this same deal – brokered by Israel and the United States was rejected by Hamas. They have been forced to accept democratic change and relinquish some of their power. Israel had also many times proclaimed that one of the biggest obstacles to a peace process was that anything negotiated just with Abbas (West Bank) would be only half a deal, and was meaningless. This is a a good thing to those who want to see this resolved.

The timing of this recouncilation is perfect. With the overthrow of Mubarak and the future of the Israeli-Egyptian Peace Treaty in doubt; with Iranian's continued push for a nuclear capability and with the WEAKNESS OF US LEADERSHIP, the time has arrived for Hamas and Al-Fatah to set aside their differences and prepare for another war against Israel.
