The Tragic Fight for Gilad Shalit

Pages: 1 2

Then last week, the Shalits and several supporters successfully blocked a courier service truck at the Gaza border forcing it to return to Jerusalem. The truck was attempting to transfer fresh shekels to Gazan banks which Shalit activists want withheld until Gilad Shalit is granted visitations from the Red Cross.

All of these moves to free their son have been only briefly reported by the Israeli press. The successful blocking of the aid funds earned nothing but a 270- word report in Haaretz.

No columns or editorials referred to these efforts, let alone galvanized the Israeli public. The silence of the Israeli press has been deafening.  It contrasts sharply with the encouragement that Israeli journalists and columnists exude whenever the Shalits insist  that Israel  release all the terrorist murderers that Hamas demands in return for their son’s freedom.

The message to the Shalits could not be clearer: the media will assist you unstintingly as long as you stick to the prisoner release route. But once you try to punish the Palestinians for Shalit’s captivity – you are on your own.

In other words: Let the Israeli public pay the price for Shalit’s return  – just leave the poor perpetrators alone.

Turning a blind eye to the activities funded by those revenues is unforgivable. The PA provides a monthly stipend for all Palestinian and Israeli Arab terrorists imprisoned in Israel. Included on the payroll are the terrorists who carried out the bombing of the Sbarro restaurant in central Jerusalem on 9th August 2001, the massacre that cost the life of our daughter Malki, 15, and many other innocents. [ JPost].

The fungibility of PA money means that while the US, the EU and other Western donors are not explicitly promoting terrorism, their gifts enable the PA to divert other funds toward that end. [ Source: “ PA to Pay Salaries to All Terrorists in Israeli Prisons“]

Together with the European Union, the US provides the bulk of financial aid that reaches the PA. Only 22% of the $530,000,000 received since the beginning of 2010 came from Arab donors . The total amount of foreign aid received directly by the PA was $1.4 billion in 2009 and $1.8 billion in 2008

I have vowed to my dead daughter that I will never cease pleading and fighting for justice toward her  murderer, Ahlam Tamimi.

Often misleadingly described as the woman who transported the bomb that was used in the Jerusalem Sbarro terror attack, Tamimi was actually the main perpetrator of that massacre. She selected the target, a venue packed at that hour with women and children. She transported the 10 kg. of explosives, met up with her accomplice, handed him the bomb, deposited him at the target and instructed him on the precise timing the attack so that she could escape unharmed.

Last week the website of Al-Qassam Brigades, the wing of Hamas to which Tamimi belonged, revealed that the streets of Ramallah – the “moderate” Abbas’ headquarters – are emblazoned with posters of Tamimi’s smiling  face.

The site also mentions Tamimi’s conviction and sentence: 16 life sentences along with “a recommendation not to release her in any possible exchange of prisoners.”

The judges foresaw  the current predicament we are in but their clause is one we, the victims, have never heard or read from any other source. Presumably it is one that the media and the government would prefer to bury.

If the PA officials are correct, Israel is about to add fuel to the very fire of terrorist danger that IDF commanders warn is about to ignite. Once again, our leaders, entrusted with the job of protecting their constituents, are content to place us in the line of fire in order to remove one very painful political thorn in their sides.

And we, the parents of murdered Jewish children, will weep alone for our second  loss.

Frimet Roth is a freelance writer in Jerusalem. Her daughter Malki was murdered at the age of 15 in the Sbarro restaurant bombing (2001). She and her husband founded the Malki Foundation [] which provides concrete support for Israeli families of all faiths who care at home for a special-needs child.

How odd that you have failed to mention the 300 Palestinian children incarcerated in Israeli jails…. so unlike the usual fairminded and honest approach of the Frontpagemag (lol)

    • aspacia

LOL, at least they are in jail, and have not been murdered by Arabs like the Fogel family. Currently, Israel does not have the death penalty, however, it should be implemented to prevent the release of Muslim Murderers.

How odd that you failed to mentioned that Palestinian youths (at 12-18 most are teenagers, NOT children) are incarcerated for attacking Israeli soldiers and Israeli property with rocks, molotov cocktails and other weapons. You also forgot to mention that jail terms for youths are generally very short and are often commuted.

I guess you just want Israel to lie down and be attacked and murdered even if its by a teenager?

If it were up to me, I'd give them 24 hours to return an unharmed Gilad Shalit or else I'd send them 100 dead former prisoners. After another 24 hours, I'd send them another 100 dead prisoners. If I should run out of "palestinian" prisoners, I'd start demolishing "palestinian" towns on the same schedule.

The Israeli government is totally responsible for how long this has dragged on. They're too concerned about public/world opinion and that usless, debating society loosely refered to as the "United Nations." They're united alright – united against Israel.

More proof that most of the leadership in Israel is extremely corrupt. They would rather betray their own citizens rather than stand up to the terrorists. The main reason for this moral rot is that they are secular atheists who have NO moral compass. Judaism means nothing to them in their elitist arrogance. Even Netanyahu is at bottom another corrupt political wheeler dealer. But the G-d of Israel is mocking that corrupt leadership by foiling all their clumsy attempts to achieve peace and security. Of course most of the nations too, including Obama in the U.S., are also corrupt. Corruption may seem clever for a time but soon enough it leads to suffering and destruction.

The Israelis should release all the terrorists the PA wants-in bags.

300 "children", vicious teenagers who have murdered and maimed Israelis with stones, they are better off in an Israeli prison than on the streets of the Arab-created ghettos.

    • Belenky

Actually, it's well known that many Arab youths turn themselves in to the Israelis (by carrying a knife), because the conditions in the Israeli jails are so excellent, that it is the best way for them to get a good education.
As far as I know, the Israeli Arabs are by no means looking to change their status (of Israelis), despite the hate-campaign and anti-Israel propaganda to which they are exposed.

I am so sorry for the murder of innocent Malki and all of the other innocents savagely murdered for the sole reason they were not Muslim.

Giving even one dollar to the Palestinian Authority Muslim terrorist organization and their terrorist allies, Hamas, is a crime against humanity.

How far and how low Western and Israeli leaders have fallen. For many years our leaders have stained our nations with the terrible blood guilt of financing Muslim terrorists. Not only financing, but arming with weapons. And military training.

For many years, the U.S. has armed and given and continues to give advanced military training to the Muslim terrorist Palestinian Authority army. One of the U.S. Muslim trained terrorists told journalist Aaron Klein, that all of the U.S. training is used against Israel. They are American leaders' proxy army against the Jewish people.

Because of our immoral, pro-Islam, pro-terror leaders, we are witnessing the death of Western civilization. Only our Merciful G-D can rescue us from future hell on earth.

If there should be a "mass palestinian prisoner release," there would not be anywhere in the world Israelis could travel without being kidnaped and held for randsom.
