A Muslim for Liberty

In his recent speech in Scotland, Imam Rauf claimed that no Muslim wants stoning or amputation in America. But if that is true, why have Muslims already brought female genital mutilation, “Islamic” finance and the “disciplining” of wives to America? If they have brought these aspects of Sharia, why would they not bring stoning or amputation as well? Have these laws suddenly somehow lost the approval of Allah?

Many of us Western Muslims are alarmed by this kind of deception by some of our leaders. We know well that Sharia law legitimizes violence in the name of divinity. We are sad to see countless open and secret Sharia courts across the West — now they are trying to do it in America. TAM (The American Muslims) created the first blueprint of a USA-Sharia court system back in 1993 in the model of Native American courts.

Sharia law is more than stoning and amputation. It sanctions other unjust laws even more devastating. Sharia law destroys family peace by setting brothers against sisters with its codification of half-inheritance. It does the same by setting husbands against wives by establishing the husband’s absolute control over his wife’s person and sexuality. That is why there is no such thing as the rape of a wife in Sharia law. Sharia law allows child-marriage without caring what the husbands do to the unfortunate little “brides.”

Sharia law is a threat to world peace because it thrives on hating others. By dehumanizing others, it blocks us from sharing this planet joyfully with our fellow human beings. It gives us a false sense of superiority and provokes us to govern the world, whereas in the last thousand years our countries have invented almost nothing. Many Sharia supporters wouldn’t live a day without the gifts of the West. Still, they come here to enjoy the freedom of the liberal democratic system — while they seek to destroy the same freedom and democratic system.

We must realize that Sharia constantly victimizes every Muslim woman. Whether a husband “disciplines” his wife or not, whether he marries other women or not, his right to do so is an insult to her. These laws were created based on several fake Hadiths and by violating, abusing or ossifying contextual Quranic verses. Changing the meaning of the Quranic word “Sharia/Shara’a” from “moral guidance” to “state law” was a major conspiracy against Islam. We Muslims have paid heavily for this crime.

Sharia is more than stoning and amputation; it is also an attitude. This Trojan horse of the West is not a benign legal system; but a malignant provocation to establish global Mullahcracy. It gives the informal ownership of Islam to a certain group of people who use sweet talk to hide violent laws.

Much of the reason for Muslims’ sorry state today is a matter of commonsense that the Prophet warned us about:  “What I fear most respecting my people are their misleading Imams” – Sahi Ibn Majah Vol 5 Hadis 3952.

I welcome the attempt of criticism of Sharia made Mr. Hasan Mahmud, and I do appreciate his good intentions. Yet he is mincing the words again. His one phrase alone as though

"[Sharia] laws were created based on several fake Hadiths (!!!) and by violating, abusing or ossifying contextual Quranic verses."

would make him a heretic among any brand of coherent moslems, a subject to execution (lest he resided not in Canada).

What he (unintentionally) does is obfuscation of the truth: Islam=Sharia. Perhaps he among moslems is like Oscar Schindler among Nazis. Perhaps he sincerely dreams as though there is such thing as Islam-Lite, or even that he may become a great reformer creating that mythical Islam-Lite (in next millennium).

As I wrote earlier, immigration into a nation (i.e. coming for good) presumes an honest desire to assimilate into the nation. How a devoted Moslem may wish (in good faith!) to come into a nation which is not Islamic?

Here is how. "A devoted moslem in good faith" comes with a mission to islamize the target nation. The steps and effects of islamization (1%, 3%, 5%, 15%,…) were well described.

    Mr. Mahmud also wrote:

"By dehumanizing others, it blocks us from sharing this planet joyfully with our fellow human beings."

Yes, this planet inevitably is shared with other. Yet one cannot hope to share it "joyfully" because the planet is populate with very different folks, some of whom are our enemies. Dehumanization of the enemies during the war is legitimate and necessary.

The promotion of Sharia law in the United States is sedition. The supreme law of the land is the Constitution of the United States of America. NO law in this land can exist in conflict with the supreme law of the Constitution. Sharia law violates the Constitution is many fundamental ways. Any attempt to impose or permit Sharia law in any jurisdiction, no matter how small, must be treated as an attack upon the legal basis of the existance of the United States.

      • Frank95054

You are absolutely correct! And, that is why every city needs to fight the construction of Mosques that claim First Amendment privileges. We need to take Islam to court and strip it of any and all legal protections as a religion. In other words, lay Islam bare for the world to see the truth that this is a violent, seditious belief system set out to destroy our country.

"…Sharia law legitimizes violence in the name of divinity…Sharia law destroys family peace…Sharia law is a threat to world peace because it thrives on hating others." – Hassan Mahmud Bio.

Am I missing something or is this some form of Taqiyya?
How can one claim to be Muslim yet reject Sharia?
If Hassan Bio knows Sharia is bad, why not abandon Islam altogether instead of trying to whitewash the Arab hate cult with this Taqiyya?
Do most other Western Muslims share this writer's view or is it an attempt to hoodwink clueless infidels?

    • PhillipGaley

"A Muslim for Liberty"? I would say: "A Muslim for Liberty, . . . what a hoot.", except that, they are so deadly and otherwise destructive of decency, and injurious to the weaker parties—women and children, . . . every mosque an ash-pit at least 5ft deep, . . .

We need govt subsidies for shotguns and pistols and rifles for every qualifying citizen, . . .

    • Jeff

This is just more Taqqiya. The Quran is very clear about what Moslems are to believe and what their duties are. He may be a cultural Moslem who has not read the Quran; but I doubt it. Has he read Surah Nine? If so, why has he not renounced Islam (as a patriotic American)?

  • DogWithoutSlippers

Seems to be double talk here by Hassan Mahmud …….if he condemns Sharia then he is an apostate………subject to death. You can't have it both ways in Islam. Sharia doesn't cut any muslim slack – just their heads if they protest!

    • Silverstein

Exactly…it is not even well thought out double talk….I am a liberal pacifist;I have researched double talk and and totalitarian rally tactics from around world war 2….most of these Moslom's for liberty would not be for liberty, if they were not being paid.

My guess is, after 9/11, the Arab nations, purchased…. any and all ….the organizers they could in America.

I worked for one of Nader's groups after college; and when I was being trained, by going, door to door, one of the the trainers would give me a script to read about the environmental dangers of tree cutting; but, then when a person said they were for cutting down the trees, and seen no environmental dangers, she had a pro cutting down the tries script.

  • Chezwick_mac

The practice of stoning is often dismissed with the argument that it has only been employed a handful of times the world over in the last century. What we have to understand is that Muslim families are encouraged to save the community the trouble by disposing of the offender themselves (honor killing). Many, many honor-killing victims would have been communally stoned had they not been prematurely victimized.

And let us never forget the insidious nature of honor crimes; it's not only the actual victims who suffer, but the millions of women who live in fear and are forced to accept the proscribing of their rights.

  • StephenD

A "Lone voice crying in the wilderness" I don't buy it.
Show me a "Moderate Muslim" and I'll show you an Apostate!
As truthful as he may be, he is persona non grata to the balance of Islam.

  • Supreme_Galooty

Sharia Law is a visible element of Islamic Society that is more a part of Arabic tradition than it is a facet of any religion. The Supreme Galooty does NOT recognize Islam as a religion in any sense of the word. Rather it is a barbaric political machine that is steeped in hatred, violence, and death. Other religions speak of Love – loving God, one's neighbor, even one's enemy. They speak of Life, of Creation, of Salvation, of release from suffering. Islam speaks of hell, death, suffering for all outsiders – especially Jewish outsiders – and goes out of its way to inflict as much pain as can be borne by any man on any flimsy pretense whatsoever – all in "service" to an omnipotent deity who is apparently incapable of wreaking his own wrath on mankind, but who IS capable of being mightily insulted by mere humans.

One could as well refer to Islam as the Great Enlightenment of The Universe, but a pig in a poke is what it is and always will be.

  • Abdul Ameer

Hasan Mahmud's heart is in the right place, but his head is not. Apparently he thinks that he is more qualified to determine what true Islam is all about than the greatest, most respected Islamic religious authorities for the last 1400 years. Mahmud writes: "These laws were created based on several fake Hadiths and by violating, abusing or ossifying contextual Quranic verses." Who is Mahmud to decide which hadiths are "fake" and which are not? And, as for sharia being law instead of just a "clear path", everyone knows that Sharia law codifies what is already in the Koran and the Sunnah. Why doesn't Mahmud talk about all those nasty verses in the Koran? Is he trying to pull the wool over our eyes about how the true Islam is so peaceful and good? He seems to be just like the handful of other "moderate Moslems" who want us to believe that it is possible to reject basic Islamic doctrines while retaining "Islam" and one's identity as a Moslem.

    • Indioviejo

You have it right. There is no Islam without Sharia. There is no moderate Muslim with out apostasy, and Islam is a satanic cult.

    • Billy

      Thank you sir.

  • voted against carter

    ' TAQIYYA '
Do your own research about it if you don't know what this means.

    islam IS EVIL. PERIOD.

    islam strives for world domination.

The quran commands muslims to exercise jihad.

The quern commands muslims to establish shariah law.

The quern commands muslims to impose islam on the entire world.

islam is NOT a religion, it IS a totalitarian ideology.

islam IS and has remained a death cult from its beginnings.

islam wants to dominate all aspects of life, from the cradle to the grave.

shariah law is a law that controls every detail of life in a islamic society.

From civic- and family law to criminal law.

It determines how one should eat, dress and even use the toilet.

Oppression of women is good, drinking alcohol is bad.

The core of the quran is the call to jihad.

Jihad means a lot of things and is arabic for battle.

islam means submission, there cannot be any mistake about its goal.

islam and freedom, islam and democracy are not compatible.

    They are opposite values.

mohamed's "wife" was six years old.

    That makes mohamed a PEDOPHILE!!!

And you want to base a "Religion" on this a z z -holes rantings?

    Are you INSANE?

    I STAND with Israel

  • mgoldberg

    This man's thinking… I wonder
Did 'the prophet mohammed' make his observation about the 'imams' before he slaughtered those 800-900 jewish men in front of his then child bride, or after. Did he make that observation before or after he declared that no christian or jew would live in arabia again? Or any of those other hideous decrees that abrogated the earlier one's? Am I too severe here?
No… because I will not stop this man's belief nor his freedom to practice. And although he seems certainly sober enough decrying Sharia, for the tyranny it truly is… I can't help but wonder about all those muslim majority nations where all others live in tyranny, under Islam, brutalized, 'submitted' and made to feel inferior to that awful tyranny of a 'faith' even without a sharia constitution.

    • aspacia

The "profit" (intended) said a whole lot more than what this author mentions. Most of is violent in the later verses.

  • AntiSharia

There can be no tolerance of Sharia. Any western state that tries to accommodate its Muslim population by implementing Sharia- whether in part or in whole- is only inviting its own destruction. If Muslims wish to live in the west then they must conform to western law, if they refuse to do so then they must be deported back to their country of origin or ancestral origin.

  • tanstaafl

It is not what Hassan Mahmod thinks about sharia law that is important, it is what 1 billion muslims think. So far, there is no mass movement among the ummah to separate sharia law from Islam. In the past 1400 years, Islam has reject all attempts to reform it, we must prepare for the reality of a long war until Islam becomes as detested as much as Nazism, "the divine right of kings", Communism and disco music.

  • http://www.contextflexed.com Flipside

OK, now who is going to speak out against Talmudic law too, and oppose the existence of the Kehillath?

    • Ghostwriter

OK,when are you going to get a clue or a heart?

      • http://www.contextflexed.com Flipside

I do have a heart. That's why I make it painful for Jews to be racists. I feel really bad about the Holocaust. I also feel really bad about Zionism. Not the Zionism of Herzl. The Zionism of Herzl was a noble idea. The Zionism of Avigdor Lieberman and Dov Zakheim, on the other hand is an abomination.

        • aspacia

Zionist started long before the Holocaust you idiot!

          • http://www.contextflexed.com Flipside

            Did I say otherwise?

    • aspacia

False analogy! Review both and return when you know the facts.

  • MRobs

Flipside – Jews are not going around comitting acts of terrorism all over the world. Nor are they marrying and raping underage girls. In fact the only religion that propogates terroristic acts and killing is ISLAM. The islamic terrorist body count for the month of ramadan was apprxoimately 785 murders committed by approximately 180 ISLAMIC MUSLIM TERRORISTS. Terrorist acts commited by Jews – Zero. Terrorist acts committed by TEA Party Members – Zero. Get your head out of your a$$!

    • http://www.contextflexed.com Flipside

I am a Tea Party supporter. It’s a shame that you equate Zionism with Libertarianism. And your count on terrorist acts committed by Jews is off. Baruch Goldstein was a terrorist. Irv Rubin was a terrorist. Meir Kahane was a terrorist. Jack Ruby was a terrorist. Adam Gadahn is a terrorist. Bernardine Dohrn is a terrorist. You really shouldn’t try to represent the Tea Party if you are against freedom of religion, and for the state establishment of Zionism.

      • aspacia

You are correct in that Jew, horribly persecuted by the British and Muslims did commit terrorist acts, but usually against military targets, except for Goldstein, who most Israelis denounce.

There are far more potential Islamic terrorists than others, and you know it. You are antiJewish and simply refuse to admit that most terrorism is against Jews.

Most here support freedom of faith, but dislike faiths that try to restrict our freedom of faith which Islam does.

        • http://www.contextflexed.com Flipside

No, I am not anti-Jewish, and that is an absurd slur coming from a woman who is not Jewish herself.

          • aspacia

If not misJudeonist, why are all your comments antiJewish?

BTW, there is no difference between original Zionism and current Zionism because both call for a Jewish homeland where Jews will not longer be victimized. Jews have a homeland the size of a postage stamp on a world map, and you call for more of this small area be given to the vast Arab World. Why?

This whole conflict will end the minute the Arab/Persian world absorbs its brethren, just as tiny Israel absorbed hers without one cent of compensation.

    • Ghostwriter

I agree with MRobs. It hasn't been Jews screaming for the deaths of Americans for years,it's been the majority of Muslims. Maybe you should stop your anti-Jewish drivel because it's stupid and inane. Also, most in the Tea Party don't share your hatred of Jews like YOU do.

      • http://www.contextflexed.com Flipside

You should stop equating criticism of Israel to hatred of Jews, because it's a lie that nobody believes.

        • aspacia

Every comment you make is antiJewish. You turn every topic into a bash Israel and Jew topic and are too myopic to realize this.

          • http://www.contextflexed.com Flipside

You seem to think all Jews think the same way.

          • aspacia

Hardly. I read most Jewish media from Haaretz to Arutz Sheva and most of what is between. Jews are as diverse, tolerant and creative as North Americans are, and these are major reasons to support them.

  • Honest

Islam = Nazism. When will all the non-Muslim nations of the world say so loudly?

  • Clare

    To Mr. Hasan Mahmud,
Since you are aware of all the cultural, political and religious problems inherent in Islam, as indicated in your article, then why would you continue to be a Follower of Mohammed? What now recommends your adherence to Islam ?
    Please help me out here.

  • Fred Dawes

This little Rat is playing a game he wants to set you up that is what he was told to say.
Hason Mahmud is only making you think that muslims are like other people but in fact he is working with the same people who want you dead and want to murder any who stand in the way of that evil little Koran and against evil.

    • Silverstein

It put shivers through me; because you may be right…I would of said it not so harshly…such as: the oil men in Saudi Arabia worked with Saudi intelligence, and with politically connected politicians (Clinton, Bush) in the US…by using state sponsored Saudi, Arab….agents….. too tactically smile at Americans (Muslims for liberty) but in reality, Muslims for liberty, is propaganda lies, seeking to stir up riots, aggression, fear amongst the non-combatant US population.

  • michaelle50

    These islamofascists are satan's pawns.

  • Elpi Nipni

You, Mister, are a hypocrite. there is not an ounce of truth in your words. Sharia law is the essence of Islam. If you against shria law then you are against Islam. if you stepped up and dared to question sharia and you are still a follower of "islamic faith", which is a myth because islam is a supremacist ideology, then you just want to pull another veil over our eyes in order to cover the truth from us. Only when you abandon islam we I might believe your words.
To all the readers, a follower of islam sees Muhammad as a role model and just to let you know: Muhammd was the scumiest man ever, a murderer, a pedophile, a coward and a trator and most of all a robber. I read it all in thre Hadith.

  • ObamaYoMoma

Unfortunately, in the eyes of mainstream orthodox Muslims those so-called Western Muslims like Mr. Hasan Mahmud calls himself are not Muslims but blasphemous apostate instead that per the dictates of Islam must be executed. However, fortunately for Mr. Mahmud he doesn't live in the Islamic world but in the Western world instead. Hence, hopefully Mr. Mahmud will not suffer the death penalty for blasphemy and apostasy, but there are no guarantees.

By the way, the title of this article is very misleading, since Mr. Mahmud is not a Muslim but instead a blasphemous apostate.

  • guest

I seriously hope and pray for the protection of Mr. Mahmoud against the BIGOTRY of the Muslim community.

  • papabigjoe

We must set many, many traps, for Islam, as the second rat gets the cheese.

  • van_Anzah

You people just don't get it, do you? Just wait for his new book – ''Defeating Radical Islam – Undoing the Wrongdoing''. I've read the Bengali version which was published a while ago. And how clearly he explains there why the current Shariah (meaning – set of rules) that is prevalent is mostly non-Islamic.
