Keith Ellison’s Tears and the Victim Card

Pages: 1 2

Rep. Keith Ellison, a Democrat from Minnesota and one of two Muslim members of Congress, cried while giving testimony at Rep. Peter King’s recent hearings on “The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community’s Response.” He could not hold back his tears as he recounted the story of Mohammed Salman Hamdani, a Pakistani-born Muslim and an NYPD cadet, who died during the collapse of the World Trade Center on 9/11 while performing his duty. Ellison cried as he lamented how Mr. Hamdani was smeared and accused of colluding with the terrorists. In Ellison’s words:

After the tragedy some people tried to smear his character solely because of his Islamic faith. Some people spread false rumors and speculated that he was in league with the attackers only because he was Muslim. It was only when his remains were identified that these lies were fully exposed. Mohammed Salman Hamdani was a fellow American who gave his life for other Americans. His life should not be defined as a member of an ethnic group or a member of a religion, but as an American who gave everything for his fellow citizens.

This account has been disputed by Matthew Shaffer in an article for National Review Online. But what is more interesting is Ellison’s emotional testimony, as it betrayed more about Ellison than he meant to reveal.

Let us assume that Ellison’s tears are not disingenuous. And let us also assume that he is not practicing taqiyya, the act of deliberately lying to an infidel, which is sanctioned by Islam because an infidel does not have equal status to a Muslim and can therefore be lied to.

I personally think Ellison’s tears were sincere. But the question is: why are they flowing only for Mohammad Hamdani? What about the hundreds of firefighters and policemen who were killed? What about the thousands of civilians who were killed? Should not the tragedy of all of these people drive a man to tears?

Why is Mohammad Hamdani more tear-provoking than others? He was just another American doing his job, irrespective of his religion.

But that’s not how Ellison sees it. He wasn’t just another American — he was a Muslim American, and to Ellison, being a Muslim is far more important than just being an American. Ellison feels solidarity and unity with a Muslim to the point of an embarrassing display of crying. At first glance, one is moved by these tears, for who can show no sympathy to a weeping man? But at second glance, the question arises: just exactly who or what are you crying for, Mr. Ellison?

Mr. Hamdani’s story is not unique. There are literally hundreds of these stories from 9/11. Pick at random any firefighter or policeman who lost his life on 9/11 and his story would be just as compelling. All of them died selflessly in the line of duty. No one is better than the other. No one story is better than the other.

What’s so special about Mohammad Hamdani?

He was a Muslim.

And Ellison uses this to play the victim card. The Muslims are the victims; the victims are not the people who are killed every day by Muslim terrorists.

I do not know. Ask your neighbor hood crocodile.

    • Miss Mellie

First "Jim's" comment is insensible, idiotic. But on the Ellison. It has been my lifelong observation that "Blacks will be Black FIRST." That is, they filter EVERYTHING through skin color. But with black Muslims, it seems that that truth has moved one more step: They will be (black) Muslim FIRST. Not American, AFRICAN American. But they are NOT racist you understand?

      • Supreme_Galooty

Miss Mellie, it appears that Jim was asking the previous question, the one not addressed for the sake of expedient argument in the article: WERE Ellison's tears ingenuous? Without firsthand knowledge of the primate in question, one cannot really say, and it might be appropriate indeed to consult with the neighborhood crocodile for further guidance.

Your observation on ideological/racial/religious priorities is certainly accurate, and raises additional questions. Can there be liberal Muslims like there are liberal Jews? We know there are liberal blacks. Are there liberal black Musselmen? And if so, are they liberal first and Muslim second and black third? Without going into extreme detail, one is led to suppose that certain ideologies dominate others completely, and without the benefit of reason.

Magnificently written article and hitting the nail right on..!!!
I guess first and foremost, we must call an ace an ace and a spade a spade and
stop beating around the bushes and cut out the political correctness b.s once and
for all without walking on eggshells as it has been until now with the Muslims in
our midst and which even Rep. KING has been doing so far on this very issue ….

Some entity should translate and distribute the Koran and attachments parts in
which is detailed the specific way to deal with "infidels" :
How it is allowed to lie and deceive them, how to lie about their true religion when-
ever inconvenient, how to deal with the "descendents of pigs and monkeys" Jews
are and to convert infidels to the "true faith" either willfully or made in head shorter,
etc,.and show the kind of Religion of Peace of the cemeteries perhaps, ISLAM is, for
the ignorants in this country to realize what are they will soon be facing, as perhaps
by then, it might be too damned late…

Ellison has lost all credibility with the deafening silence over the horrific slaying of an entire family in Israel from Palestinian "Jihadists." There is no rage, there are no tears…only silence. How does the saying go? "For evil to flourish all it takes is for good men to do nothing;" or something similar. Are you a "Good Man" Ellison? Do you condemn such actions taken IN THE NAME OF ISLAM? Are you seeking to find and prosecute anyone that would support such actions? Unless and until the balance of the Muslim world condemns through action and rejects all such teachings of Jihad, THEY TOO have lost all credibility. In Gaza, they handed out sweet cakes and candy to celebrate the murder of an entire family, including a 3 month old and a 4 yr old….simply because they were Jewish. There is no room in my heart for your tears Mr. Ellison.

  • jacob

And what Rep ELLISON should have been asked at his theatrical display, was how
would he caracterice his correligionists dancing and giving out candy on the
streets of QUEENS, New York , while people were jumping to their deaths from
the WTC windows at the 9/11 horror…

  • Richard

What Mr. Ellison didn't tell us was about the Muslims dancing in the street of Patterson NJ. There was a news clip I saw once and never again of this incident. HOW DID THEY KNOW?

  • trumander

Where are his tears when a beheading or a suicide bomber strikes in a crowded market place, true tears, I think not.

  • Lisa_H

Did anybody see Ellison on O'Reilly after his teary statement at the King hearings? It's well worth looking at, but your blood pressure may rise.

There are 15 more Ellisons on the horizon.

IN MY OPINION THIS DUDE IS AN IDIOT. IN MY OPINION OBAMA IS AN IDIOT.NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE MUSLIM'S AND NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE BLACK, BUT BECAUSE THEY ARE IN DENIAL.

THE QURAN SPELLS OUT WHAT ISLAM IS ALL ABOUT, IT IS A TOTALITARIAN CULT.

WE HAVE A U.S REP. THAT IS A BLACK MUSLIM WE HAVE A MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE THAT IS A BLACK MUSLIM AND BOTH HAVE ONE GOAL IN COMMON, TO MAKE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA A MUSLIM SHARI LAW COUNTRY WITH A DICTATOR,

TEARS DO NOT AFFECT ME COMING FROM THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE MURDERERS AND TERRORIST. THIS IS WHAT THE QURAN REQUIRES TO KILL THE JEW, INFIDEL OR AND ONE ELSE THAT WILL NOT BOW TO ISLAM. CUT OFF THEIR HEAD, ANY WAY AND ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO SAY OR DO TO WIN THE WORLD FOR ALLAH IS LEGAL IN ISLAM.

Ellison and all his ilk, wouldn't it be great to be able to give him
and them something to really cry about……………………Government
hearings just seem to turn into comety central no matter what.

  • MixMChess

As frustrating as Bill Maher is, he did put Rep. Ellison in his place a few weeks ago.

    • AB7

It was very refreshing to see Maher, as despicable as he is, being at least rational and human enough to state in such clear terms, the reality that so many pusillanimous pukes and limp wristed twits in the media and in every single other corner of our civilization are AFRAID to say, that the Koran is evil. I really am sickened to my core by the degenerate infidels who are apologists for Islam, what pure unholy scum they are.

  • AB7

How sweet would it have been to have someone on the committee, like Allen West perhaps, who would have said something like "spare us the teary dramatics sir, we are here for a serious purpose…" and really light into him for only crying over a Muslim, etc. but for not crying over infidels killed, as mentioned in some of the comments here. At some point all infidels are going to have to be really really super blunt and state publicly, in professional positions, just how purely evil and horrible Islam and the Koran really are, and that Muhammad was an evil terrorist, and that anyone crying for Muhammad or Islam is, if not insane, evil.

Must see video of Allen West responding to a CAIR rep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MZx38i6iYs

Keith Ellison is such a girly man, he cried for someone he never meet and claimed that the man he was crying for was trying to safe others…How the hach did he know this, was he there, for crying out loud Ellison never even meet the men!
