The Only Thing We Have to Fear (Is Islamophobia Itself)

Pages: 1 2

NRO published Robert Spencer’s and David Horowitz’s article, “A Rational Fear of Islamism,” in its Sept. 30, 2011 issue. Below we run the original version:

In recent months several reports have appeared to a generally uncritical reception in the press, which purport to expose alleged conspiracies organized by “Islamophobes” against American citizens who mean us no harm. These reports single out for condemnation a dozen prominent conservative figures (and mostly the same dozen) who have publicly criticized the misogyny, bigotry and terrorism promoted by many (but not all) Islamic institutions and religious texts.

The term “Islamophobia” itself was invented by the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the political fountainhead of Islamic terror, having spawned al-Qaeda and created Hamas. Not coincidently, the reports themselves have been produced by Brotherhood fronts like CAIR, and jihadist apologists like the Southern Poverty Law Center. But the latest and most elaborate Islamophobia report, transparently derivative of its predecessors, has been issued by the Center for American Progress, which is a brain trust of the Democratic Party. It thus marks a disturbing development in this ugly campaign.

On examination, the term “Islamophobia” is designed to create a modern-day thought crime, while the campaign to suppress it is an effort to abolish the First Amendment where Islam is concerned. The purpose of the suffix – phobia — is to identify any concern about troubling Islamic institutions and actions as irrational, or worse as a dangerous bigotry that should itself be feared.

Is fear of terrorists inspired by Islam irrational? There have been 17,800 terrorist attacks carried out by Muslims in the name of Allah since 9/11. Is it unreasonable to be concerned that 30,000 shoulder-ready surface-to-air missiles have been recently gone missing in the Muslim nation of Libya, where both government and rebels the Islamic jihad against America and the West?

Would not a reasonable person be concerned about the attacks plotted and carried out by Muslims in the United States who claim to be inspired by the Koran and who regard themselves as holy warriors in the jihad declared by Osama bin Laden and other Muslim fanatics? These Muslim attacks include the successful massacre of unarmed American soldiers at Fort Hood by Nidal Hassan, a self-declared Muslim warrior whose anti-infidel rantings were ignored by the military brass.

These Muslim terrorists include Naser Abdo, the would-be second Fort Hood jihad mass murderer; and Khalid Aldawsari, the would-be jihad mass murderer in Lubbock, Texas; and Muhammad Hussain, the would-be jihad bomber in Baltimore; and Mohamed Mohamud, the would-be jihad bomber in Portland; and Faisal Shahzad, the would-be Times Square jihad mass-murderer; and Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, the Arkansas military recruiting station jihad murderer; and Naveed Haq, the jihad mass murderer at the Jewish Community Center in Seattle; and Mohammed Reza Taheri-Azar, the would-be jihad mass murderer in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Ahmed Ferhani and Mohamed Mamdouh, who hatched a jihad plot to blow up a Manhattan synagogue; and Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the would-be Christmas airplane jihad bomber; and many others.

If the FBI and law enforcement agencies had not had serious fears of Muslim fanatics, had not been possessed by a species of “Islamophobia,” all those would-be terrorist attacks would be successful attacks and carry long lists of dead innocents – infidels – along with their names.

Should those of us who are infidels – and therefore targets — not be concerned by a religion whose followers regard this Qur’anic incitement as the word of God: “Slay the pagans wherever you find them.” (9:5)

"and have sex with slave girls"

Wait a minute, wait a minute … no one told me I could have sex with slave girls. I need to rethink this.

    Also:

[t]his God has decreed that a woman’s testimony is worth half that of a man (2:282), that men can marry up to four wives

I think that I might be safe if I kept it to two wives or under, otherwise they might out-vote me.

Strange, really. It's as though a fair amount of Islamic law has to do with making sex convenient for men. I wonder how that happened?

Islam seems to be a "school boy" fantasy.

Everything in the Qur'an is written to justify any action the "prophet" Muhammad took. It is a book that is NOT inspired of God, as the Torah and Bible are, but inspired of Muhammad and Satan to give sanction to his petulant egotism, sexual lust and depravity (he "married" a 6/7year old and then had sex with her when she was 9 years old), hatred, racism, and greed. The Sira (Biography of Muhammad) and Hadith confirm that nearly every "revelation" came conveniently timed to justify something Muhammad did.

As for every modern days X-phobia, the islamophobia's goal is not merely to neutralize our defence against a very real islamic terror. Its strategic goal is to get us used to islam in America (!) as though it were a part of our national identity. As though the 1st Amendment meant also islam and gave it a path for proselytization. As though it is OK for America to turn islamic merely because of their rabbit birth rate (if for nothing else).

Just several decades ago such reasoning would be impossible. Not one political crazy would dare to doubt that America (as any other nation) does have its unique national identity (exclusively Judeo-Christian). Yet now even this basic part of our foundation erodes under vicious attacks of crazy lefts and crazy "rights" of a Ron Paul ilk. We are doomed if we do not reverse this trend.

More like Islamonausea. Nobody has an irrational hatred of Islam. Its a ridiculous totalitarian ideology of hate on par with the Nazis ideology to impose a "supreme world race" and whats worse is all of the deaths that have been caused by this phony religion. There is absolutely no evidence for any of you people (Jews, Christians, Muslims) to believe in what you do apart from your own willingness to believe in it. Put down the Quran, the Torah, and the Bible and pick up a real book. Something preferably in the field of science thats been written in the last ten or twenty years. Thanks and have a good day.

I think the hooks are in too deep for us ever again to be able to achieve a national consensus on defining issues. The educational establishment has brainwashed entire generations…and de-programming is not as easy as one might think.

Just go to any liberal web-site that happens to feature an article reporting something negative about Islam, and then read the comments section. You'll witness an almost pathological proclivity for moral equivalence from commenter after commenter.

The twisted narrative goes something like this: Because of America's own historical sins (no matter how far removed we are from them in terms of time and policies), we are forever disqualified from passing judgment on Islamic supremacism, misogyny, discrimination, intolerance, militarism, imperialism, cruel and unusual punishments, etc.

It's truly bizarre…the willful abdication of all moral judgment. But it serves an important purpose. It legitimizes our enemies by de-legitimizing our critical scrutiny of their religious/cultural traditions….traditions that are utterly indefensible on their own merits.

Agreed… and in spite of all that the United States of America has done to fix its own house (does the Civil War ring a bell, anyone?) and to help others around the world, including countries and people who are not only unappreciative, but downright hateful of us.

We ought to stop sending aid to Islamic nations when they have a natural disaster. Let "Allah" help them out. We should also not go into another Islamic country unless we plan to keep the place and abolish Islam. We should, however, help to defend any nation or people who are fighting against being overrun by Islam.

For infidels, "Islamophobia" is a normal behavior. In the 1400 year history of Islam, over 270 million infidels have been murdered. The "choice" that Islam offers the unbeliever is conversation, Dhimmitude (a status worse than slavery, which is legal in Islam) and death.

    Why shouldn't we be afraid?

To all those believing in "MODERATE" Muslims, may I ask ALL of them, whether
those dancing and giving out candy in the streets of QUEENS, NEW YORK while
people were jumping to their deaths from the WTC buildings, were to them also
    "MODERATES" ??????

Or does it take a replay of 9/11 or even worst yet to bring people to their senses
make them realize that the preachings of all those ISLAMOPHOBES are nothing
    but GOD's truth ????

And once again until I get blue in the face, the words of YOSHIRO SAGAMORI
in the JERUSALEM POST some time ago :

" EVERY PRACTICING MUSLIM IS A TERRORIST.
IT IS WHAT HAS BEEN HMMERED INTO HIS HEAD FOM CRADDLE TO GRAVE
AND IT IS WHAT HIS "RELIGION" EXPECTS FROM HIM"…

    NO more and no less

You may be confused about what it takes to make something a crime. Muslims simply don't like non-Muslims having the temerity to point out what Islam prescribes.

You may be mixing up "making something a crime" with Muslim-dominant lawmaking bodies.

One of the problems is ignorance. Not everyone knows or is interested enough to study the Koran or at least a synopsis of it. A good reference work has recently been posted on the net under the title "The Truth about Mohammed, founder of the world's most intolerant religion" which is hard going but gives a very clear view of what the world is up against. The jihad is real and on going. Hatred and the elimination of the infidel is an on going task. The history of Mohammed and his spawning of the hatred for the Jews is on going and will continue until the infidels are defeated or until the world converts to Islam.
The Palestinians, Hamas, Iran and all the North African Arab spring countries plus many other Muslim nations follow the teachings of Mohammed via the Koran. So the Muslim agenda is not a mystery to anyone other than those people who choose to remain ignorant and they are in the majority. It is the Non-Muslims versus Islam that is happeneing on an ongoing basis. Islam is winning the propaganda battle. The rest of the non Muslim world must awake from it's dangerous slumber and face the threat head-on and now.!We can't afford to wait!

This article is proof that common sense has been outlawed in America by our government and their lackies in the mainstream media. This article is full of common sense and logic but Americans are beaten into political correct stupid state of self guilt by our name calling America hating leftist leaders of both politcal parities. So much so that an article like this that lays out the facts logically and correctly cannot see the light of day in our halls of justice, our Congress nor our mainstream news media. To suppress the truth and enable our enemies to treat of like prey ripe for the killing should be declared TREASON and the guilty parties should be dealt with as any traitor deserves. I grew up in America without ever seeing a mosque, never went to school with a muslim, served in our military without ever seeing or serving with a muslim in our military. Don't tell me that islam has played a significant role in America's history, it has not. More revisionist history. Islam has been the mortal enemy of Jews and Christians for 1,400 years and now our leaders invite them to come live among us. TRAITORS, THAT'S WHAT THESE LEADERS ARE.

Would you wear a T-shirt with a Mohammad cartoon printed on it?

You might in Montana. Don’t try it in Mecca.

    Why?

Because, Islam trains a small number of its most devout believers it’s OK to kill. And Islamic killers have been trained to kill anyone who insults Allah and/or Mohammad.

In Montana you’d have a good chance none of these Islamic killers would see you.

In Mecca you wouldn’t last five minutes. One of Islam’s killers would come from out of nowhere and kill you. It is that simple.

You don’t believe me? Ask any Muslim!

The 17,800 attacks number seems low, unless you are excluding the high number of Allahmurders committed against other Muslims by jihadists. I will link to this from my Old Jarhead blog.

Yet these moderates have maintained their silence in the face of the genocidal calls in the name of their God.

Of course, the notion that most Muslims are moderates is a political correct myth. Indeed, the sixth and most important pillar of Islam makes it an obligatory duty for EVERY MUSLIM to fight jihad in the cause of Allah. It doesn't make it an obligatory duty only for RADICALS to fight jihad in the cause in the cause of Allah and it doesn't make it an obligatory duty only for EXTREMISTS to fight jihad in the cause in the cause of Allah., while at the same time giving an exemption and free pass to so-called MODERATE MUSLIMS to fight jihad in the cause of Allah. Instead, the sixth and most important pillar of Islam makes it an obligatory duty for ALL MUSLIMS to fight jihad in the cause of Allah. No exceptions!

Hence, ALL MAINSTREAM ORTHODOX MUSLIMS are jihadists. A few of them are violent jihadists, while most of them are non-violent stealth and deceptive jihadists, and the few of them that aren't jihadists aren't Muslims at all but instead blasphemous apostates that per the dictates of Islam must be executed. Of course, most blasphemous apostates are smart enough to keep their mouths shut because of the consequences of speaking out.

Islamophobia is a term used by communophiliacs. It's much like the communophiliacs calling anyone who had a different opinion fascists. But make no mistake about it the use of the word Islamophobia brands its user like Heinz brands beans: i.e. Communophiliac.

It is leftist doctrine to attribute one’s own shortcomings to others. I was watching a video about the Christians that were arrested at a Muslim festival in Dearborn, Michigan for violating sharia. When the Muslim security approached them they would hit the Christians. The Christians would ask them to stop hitting them and security would state that they are not hitting them and they would strike them again. If this type of behavior is tolerated then the Islamists will win one small victory after another until they are deeply entrenched and the will prevail.

    • JoC

Dearborn is out of control. I've seen video from there as well and it makes my blood boil.
I watched a documentary and the Imam that was interviewed said the one thing they have on there side was OUR CONSTITUTION…
They will try to use our Rule of Law to impose their own.

No. I don't think those things are acceptable. I have said in numerous places and many times that Islam, like most other religions, contains many violent ideas, many stupid ideas, and a lot of bigoted judgments. It like Christianity and Judaism in that way. Since I am an intellectual, and religion mostly strikes me as an amusement, I have never felt obligated to act out any of those aspects. I never said racism against the Jews is acceptable, even on a good day when you can find one honest enough to cop to being a member of a race. There is dishonesty in all identification as race and religion, yet some people want to milk the benefits of virtual membership. Just like I don't condone racism, I don't condone people claiming to exist in the elsewhere, one day a race, the next day a religion, the third day an ethnicity, the fourth day a Hegelian imperative of history.

Really, in order to HATE Islam, I would have to hate Christianity, as Islam is a snapshot of Christianity circa 500 AD or Judaism circa 300 B.C. If I spent all day vilifying religions, I'd never get anything done.

  • JerryJ26
