Peace Through Victory

Pages: 1 2

By now, Israel, at the urging and bullying of the world, has tried pretty much every conceivable idea and option for achieving tranquility and reconciliation with the Hamas, except for one.  Israel removed its army and civilian population from the Gaza Strip.  In what amounted to the first ethnic self-cleansing in history, Israel evicted the entire Jewish presence in Gaza.  The entire area was turned over to the Palestinians, lock, stock, barrel, and Jew-free.

The result is of course known.  The Hamas immediately converted all of Gaza into a large rocket launch pad and a base for initiating terrorist attacks against Israel.  It kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit and held him incommunicado, refusing medical treatment to him, even though his arm was filled with shrapnel.  Israel in response provided free electricity and water to the Gazans and sent civilian supplies into Gaza.  Israel never made any serious efforts to stop the massive tunnel smuggling into Gaza from Egypt, even when it was clear that the main item being smuggled was weapons.  These smuggled weapons include bomb materials and sophisticated rockets that can now reach Tel Aviv.  Israel responded to the endless rocket attacks against its own civilians by turning the other cheek.  Only after 8000 rocket strikes did it launch the half-hearted symbolic retaliation in the “Cast Lead” campaign, withdrawing quickly after it was launched.

There is only one strategy for dealing with the Hamas that Israel has never attempted.  That untried strategy is victory.  Israel has never seriously attempted to achieve peace and tranquility with the Gaza Palestinians by means of victory.  This is somewhat strange, since it is hard to think of any other war that did not end in peace only after victory.  Instead, the world keeps demanding that Israel respond to Hamas provocation with an endless series of one-sided “goodwill measures.”  Never mind that the only invariable effect of such Israeli “goodwill measures” has been to trigger more Hamas terrorism.  The only “peace settlement” the Hamas is interested in is one in which Israelis volunteer to allow themselves to be placed in Hamas-run extermination camps for Jews.

Victory in the case of the war with the Gaza terrorists would mean annihilating the Hamas.  Interestingly, there is an increasing chorus of voices inside Israel now calling for peace through victory.  One of these is General Dan Halutz, the controversial erstwhile chief of staff of the Israeli army.  A few days ago a Hamas rocket was fired into Israel and struck a school building.  In response, Halutz called for a “mortal blow” to be dealt to the Hamas’ civilian and “military” leadership.  Then, in a radio interview, Halutz said, “We must bring back our deterrence vis-à-vis Gaza. It has not existed for even one moment since Operation Cast Lead and to this day.”  He has been joined by other Israeli leaders.  The finance minister, Yuval Steinitz (who is a philosophy professor at my own university when he is not busy in public life), recently called on Israel to topple the Hamas “regime” in Gaza if the terror continues.

The terrorist aggression by the Hamas has been carried on nonstop ever since it seized power in Gaza.  Most acts of Hamas barbarism do not even get reported in the world media, for which dogs biting and shooting rockets at postmen are passé.  Hamas rockets land in Israeli civilian areas almost every day.  Hamas leaders continue to call openly for Israel’s obliteration and for the annihilation of Jews.  All this is surprising only for those who have no understanding of what the Hamas really is.   Anyone who has read the brochure on the Hamas being distributed by the David Horowitz Freedom Center will know otherwise.

It has become vogue in many circles to represent Middle East savagery as part of some sort of “War of Civilizations.” It is not. In fact, the Middle East is simply a war by barbarism against all civilization. It is also considered chic to represent the Middle East conflict as a “cycle of violence,” and as something fundamentally symmetrical between Arab terrorists and Israeli soldiers.  It is not.

The idea is a good one, but apparently, there are practical difficulties. USA, though on a decline is still the leading power in the world, and yet it never thought of giving victory a chance in Afghanistan. It did not even define victory. How can we expect a small country like Israel to fight a war to finish?

    • poetcomic1

BY fighting. A war. To the finish.

      • alphakilosingh

The idea is a good one.
How many wars has USA fought to finish since WWII? Who will coach Israel on how to fight a war to finish?
The objective of a war is to break the enemy's will. How much time and effort is it going to take Israel to break the will of its enemies, at least two of them are having nuclear weapons?
If it was possible, Israel would have done it by now. The very fact that Israel is talking about attacking Iran shows that it has no intention of attacking, because this time, the war will have to be fought to finish. Israel did not announce its plans before attacking Iraq in 1981 and Syria in 2007.

“There are no non-military solutions to the problems of terrorism.” This is about as true as it gets.

Some people just can’t be reasoned with and history has proven again and again this same hard cold fact of life. We, ourselves, as in the entire Western free world, (especially Europe and the UK) better wake up to this threat too and start calling it for it is.

“The entire world has convinced itself that violence and terrorism in the Middle East are the results of Israeli “occupation” over Arabs.”

This is what alot of Islamists have used to exploit the American PC ignorance of their hatred. NEWS FLASH: ISLAMISTS HAVE ALWAYS HATED JEWS AND IT DIDN’T JUST START WHEN ISRAEL WAS ESTABLISHED AS A JEWISH STATE!!!! This hatred dates back to it’s birth long before the U.S. was even an idea. So, this kills the liberal-pc lie of “Well, if we didn’t support Israel, they would be at war with us”. They’ve hated Jews since Muhammad, they hated them after he died and they probably will always hate Jews. Israel could be called, “Mississippi” and as long as their are Jews in it, HAMAS and all other Islamic terrorist nut jobs (that’s right, you heard me correctly “ISLAMIC TERRORISTS”) will always want it wiped off the map. Why is this such a discovery for many people, when in the Qu’ran it’s mentioned several times, when it’s taught to kids who grow up in Islamic countries by their schools ruled by shariah? It’s ingraved in it’s ideology, EXTERMINATE JEWS!!!! All that’s missing is a swatstika.

    • aspacia

Actually, the swatstika often appears at their rallies.

  • aspacia

Plaut is correct, the only resolution to the continued violence instigated by Muslims is unconditional surrender.

Problem: We are still dependent on oil
Problem: Obama is proMuslim and against Israel
Problem: Most Democrats are against Israel
Problem: Most Independents are against Israel
Problem: Some Republicans are against Israel (Norquist comes to mind)

A massive PR campaign is necessary.

    • rulieg

not entirely. most Americans are pro-Israel: something like 65%. that's a pretty high number for such a divided country. so I'd say you're wrong about the independents not supporting Israel. and Congress is strongly pro-Israel.

as for Obama, hopefully we'll only have that problem for a little while longer. that will also help solve the problem of being dependent on Middle East oil, since Obama just today managed to not only keep being dependent on it, but also stop the creation of 20,000 new jobs by stopping the Keystone Pipeline project.

      • aspacia

Yes, most U.S. citizens support Israel, however, as you claim, a rather large chunk of our population does not. This number may increase considering academic bias our youth are exposed to while attending university. Years ago, the academic bias was favorable to Israel, and those academics who critiqued Israel were often denied tenure, now the opposite is true.

Obama is the puppet of the well-oiled, dangerous Soros machine. Funny how all the accusations against Cain stem from Obama's old Chicago "stompin" grounds. Who knows what his handlers will use against any GOP candidate.

It is outrageous that O promotes other countries oil drilling off the Americas coastline, but restricts U.S. drilling. The more I examine O's policies, the more I see a dangerous Manchurian Candidate.

        • rulieg

aspacia, could not agree with you more. and I sure hope you're wrong about the academic anti-Israel tilt affecting our kids…but you're probably not. funny you should mention the MCandidate. I just watched the movie again on TCM last weekend. every time I hear that speech by Senator Jordan where he says "if [Iselin] was a paid Soviet agent he could not be doing more damage to America than he is now" I think of Obama.

  • Mickey Oberman

In all of its wars with the Arabs Israel has been prevented by its "friends". primarily the US from fighting those wars to their conclusion as they could have done had they not been pressured to quit early.
There has never been a decisive defeat in which the enemy has sued for peace.
This has resulted in ever more wars.
It will continue thus until "Islam" "submits".

  • ziontruth

Agreed, no viable strategy but victory. But what is the strategy for avoiding being sucked into guerrilla warfare? There is no strategy but what the Torah says Jews are to do once they return to political sovereignty in the Land of Israel: Forcible relocation of the entire hostile population (Numbers 33:50–53).

France called Algeria an inseparable part of France but was mired in guerrilla warfare because it failed to act on that pronouncement. True Torah Jews who believe the Land of Israel belongs to the Jews need to ask themselves what the descendants of Arabian desert nomads are doing in our one and only homeland in the world, and act accordingly. Peace can come only by expelling the entire population from which 100% of the terrorist attacks originate.

  • StephenD

"The only real way to suppress the carnage is for Israel to re-occupy Gaza and the West Bank in full, implement open-ended military control there and a long-term program of Denazification (based in part on the Allied programs at the end of World War II). Israel needs to expel the terrorists and destroy their infrastructure. It needs to get serious about shooting terrorists.  Everything else is wishful thinking and delusion."

Well said. The only problem is Iran. If Israel engages with Iran, how does it handle at least 2 other fronts? Once embarked upon there can be no going back. It must be full out, leaving not a trace of resistance. The scenario of Egypt hosting "refugees" is feasible but workable. If Egypt isn’t burdened with all the expense and knows clearly what to expect should terrorist activities begin from its territory. Israel will have a chance to re-establish itself on the world stage when the dust settles only if it has a strong ally in an America revitalized. Therefore, she must wait this out.

    • ziontruth

"I have lifted up my hand unto the LORD, God Most High, Maker of heaven and earth, that I will not take a thread nor a shoe-latchet nor aught that is thine, lest thou shouldest say: I have made Abram rich." (Genesis 14:22–23)

To God alone the glory. America may or may not be revitalized, but in either case, America won't be there to help in Israel's most dire straits. Whether because she is in decline, or because she is under God-hating rule. Nearly the whole world today is of the belief that Israel survives only at America's grace. God is not getting the glory He deserves—and He deserves everything, for it is for His glory that He created the world. Therefore God, the one and only true Lord of History, is steering events such that the world shall know, by sight, that it is at His grace that the Jewish nation survives. The doubts will be silenced soon, amen!

      • StephenD

I believe this to be true. This is why I believe there is NOTHING to fear.

  • Steeloak

Hmm, I wonder where the "hate the jew" trolls are this morning. An article like this one usually brings them out in full foam-at-the-mouth hate mode.

    • Adam

I think they are celebrating the anniversry of Kristallnach.

      • rulieg

good one! you made me LOL. thanks, I needed that.

    • Ghostwriter

      Yeah,no kidding!

  • BLJ

The real problem is Iran. Those bastards are the one's backing groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. The best way to kill a snake is by cutting off the head.

I do believe that Hamas and Hezbollah need to be destroyed. They are rotten to the core. Israel needs to give those who insist they show restraint the one finger salute.

  • NotaBene

Geez. In a hurry for WW3 you guys? Israel tries to re-occupy Gaza and expel the Palestinians and the whole region will erupt.

    • aspacia

It already is erupting. I vote neutron bomb most of the ME and confiscate their oil for modern, tolerant civilizations. Face it, they want all of us dead. Read some ME media for insight. AJ is a good beginning for the lies and omissions.

      • NotaBene

Right, commuting mass genocide will show them how modern and tolerant we are.

Or was that meant ironically? Sometimes over the Internet it's hard to tell.

        • aspacia

No, it was not ironic. Some would survive, albeit passified like the Japanese. Fat Man and Little Boy ended WWII and probably saved a million allied lives.

Oh, it is "committing" not "commuting." NotBrain is another piece of evidence against the K-12 system's social promotion.

  • Adam

Beautiful idea, and the writer is 100% right that it would be the only logical solution except for one major detail; The Obama administration is in on it. Plain and simple this is not a viable option for Israel simply because Obama hates Israel and Jews alike. Until he is replaced Israel needs to remain on Defense. They can stop with all the "Good Faith Efforts" but no offensive pre-emptive strikes until after the Islamist is voted out of the White House.

  • BLJ

Dealing with someone in "good faith" makes one big assumption. That said party has "honor". In this case it has never and will never exist. The only objective they seek is the destuction of Israel.

Actions speak louder than words. Hamas, Hezbollah and their Iranian masters have demonstrated quite clearly since 1979 where they stand. It is only the fools in the West that cannot see this.

The time for destroying the enemy is long overdue and it may be too late. For those who state that some here are eager for WWWIII, I have news for them. WWWIII is going on and has been for some time.

    • Steeloak

Slight correction. WWIII is over, we won. We called it the cold war, but it was a war nonetheless.
We are currently in WWIV, the war against Islamic Imperialism although it is still in the early stages, much like Europe and Asia in the 1930's.

      • NotaBene

??? Have any of you spent even five minutes thinking about the implications of this? Israel launches a war it can't win and doesn't have the will to fight (not against Iran and Egypt, that's for sure), gets embargoed by every country in the world except maybe the US, its economy collapses and it becomes the isolated Middle Eastern equivalent of North Korea. Then the US will have to come to its aid, and after we've spent the last 10 years bankrupting ourselves in two wars, now you want to increase the scale of the conflict tenfold.

It's utter madness for anyone who gives a fig about Israel or the US. Seek help, all of you. Osama bin Laden must read this website when he's having a rough day in hell.

        • BLJ

Hey Einstein. What part of the "Israel must be destroyed" mantra are you misssing? The fact that the enemies of both Israel and the U.S. have gotten away with crap for over 30 years is the problem. You need to wake up.

          • NotaBene

Words are wind. The total number of Israelis killed by Hamas over the last 5 years is less than 100 – a smaller number than the number of Israelis who have died from peanut allergies. Your thirst for war would kill far, far more of the Israeli Jews you claim to defend.

          • aspacia

            NoBrain is another Leftist cowards.

        • aspacia

NotwithBrain, are you a fortune teller? You do not know that Israel cannot win. They won in 48 against all odds; they were outgunned and outnumbered, but overcame. Israel has won all her wars with Egypt and is not boycotted by most countries. The U.S. views Israel as a strategic ally great for information gathering, and we have had boots on Israeli ground since the early 50's.

The U.S. has not correctly prosecuted a war since WWII. We have allowed the UN to hamstring us at every turn, especially the 38th parallel .

You are making faulty, hypothetical analogies between North Korea and the USA.

Again, no one knows what will happen until it happens, and what we discuss is not madness; we address the reality and what is currently facing us. In contrast, you adopt the Chamberlame appeasement approach and have the spine of a jellyfish.

  • WilliamJamesWard

The entire Middle East should be the new Israeli Nation, Jerusalem the eternal
Capitol, Islamists should become a bad memory never to be repeated. How can
a Jew expect a land of milk and honey while plagued with horror and death,
the Islamist must go and there is a place, very hot and probably to their liking
and inhabited by the true foulness they desire, Hell the home of Islamists and
    Leftists waiting to be filled……………………………………………………..William

        • aspacia

Yes, it is well worth the price. I have been watching GB, but he is putting too much religion and antiunionisms in his programs. Frankly, unions were necessary when formed. Ford had many union organizers murdered, and the working conditions were dangerous. Albeit, like all humans, the union leaders became corrupt thugs.

  • aspacia

Again, neutron bomb the savages, and let Israel create a prosperous ME.

  • aspacia

The violence against Zionists started long before the creation of Israel. There was the Hebron massacre, and several antiJewish riots during 1911.

Face it, there never will be peace with Muslims because they will always hate all infidels. This is one prophecy that rings true today, He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers" (verses 10-12, New International Version).

    A Deist

  • aspacia

The critiques of Islam has prompted the critiques stemming from both the Torah and New Testament. The difference is that neither calls for the destruction of infidels, nor describes infidels as apes and pigs, whereas the Qu'ran does.

One reason I am no longer a Christian nor a practitioner of any faith stems from the paternalistic and violent nature of every faith I have examined.
