An Islamist President Coming to Town

In yet another overture to the Islamists of Egypt, President Barack Obama has invited newly elected Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi to conduct an official visit to America. “President Obama extended an invitation to President Mursi to visit the United States when he attends the U.N. General Assembly in September,” Egyptian aide Yasser Ali said after Morsi met U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns in Cairo. The visit breaks new ground in that it will be the first visit to the White House by an official member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Morsi resigned from the group after his presidential victory, but it was little more than a symbolic gesture.

Unsurprisingly, military and government officials in Israel were taken aback by the news, primarily because the move represented a breach of President Obama’s assurances to U.S. Jewish leaders at the White House last month. They had been told that Morsi would neither be invited to the White House nor maintain direct telephone contact with Obama until Morsi met certain conditions, the foremost of which concerned a public and unambiguous commitment to Egypt’s 1979 peace treaty with Israel. The American Jewish delegation was also assured that Morsi would be required to devote a section of his earliest speech on foreign affairs to a specific affirmation of that pact, as opposed to the ambiguous pledge he made upon his election on June 24 that he would uphold Egypt’s international accords.

The assurances were worthless. Secretary Burns was sent to Egypt and Morsi received his unconditional invitation. Burns, who failed to mention that invitation at an initial news conference, added insult to injury at a later meeting with reporters. “We have taken careful note and appreciated President Mursi’s public statements about a commitment to international obligations and we certainly attach great importance to Egypt’s continuing role as a force for peace,” he said.

Peace in Egypt is still elusive. On Sunday, an ongoing power struggle between the Islamist president, Egypt’s military generals and judges intensified. Morsi ordered his political party, the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, back into session. The move directly challenged the authority of the military who had dismissed them based on an order by Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court in June, dissolving the Islamist-dominated parliament because one-third of its members were elected unlawfully. On Tuesday, Morsi re-convened them, despite a warning from the military that such a move could provoke violence. The only item on the illegitimate gathering’s agenda was the Court’s ruling. After the meeting, the Court ruled that Morsi did not have the right to reconstitute the body.

The Egyptian democratic elections is a perfect historical example of how easy is is for democracy to descend to tyranny: elect a charismatic tyrant. The Brotherhood wants one thing: the Muslim Caliphate all over the planet; the death of all infidels (that would be Jews and Christians), and Sharia Law. Welcome to the Arab Spring.

The reason any democracy descends into tyrannny is because they don't have a Constitution (republic) that guarantees human rights. The lack of a Constitution will only get you mob rule and or a dictatorship. This is also happening here in the US because we no longer follow our constitution thanks to Obama and company.

'The Egyptian democratic elections is a perfect historical example of how easy is is for democracy to descend to tyranny: elect a charismatic tyrant'.

For 'Egyptian' one could also read 'American'.

Or in the case of Europe, remove the terms, 'charismatic' and 'elect' then you'll be on the mark.

You are right but at least there was a time the Americans were "semi" responsible enough to elect fairly decent men to high office. No more is that a certainty since the rise of Barack Obama. When I hear polls which indicate his popularity, I think I am living in a nation full of idiots!

As to the Muslim-Arab world. I got the following from the Daily Forward, published Jan. 12, 2007:

"(S)ometime prior to March 2003, Sharon told Bush privately in no uncertain terms what he thought about the Iraq plan. Sharon’s words — revealed here for the first time — constituted a friendly but pointed warning to Bush. Sharon acknowledged that Saddam Hussein was an “acute threat” to the Middle East and that he believed Saddam possessed weapons of mass destruction.

Yet according to one knowledgeable source, Sharon nevertheless advised Bush not to occupy Iraq. According to another source — Danny Ayalon, who was Israel’s ambassador to the United States at the time of the Iraq invasion, and who sat in on the Bush-Sharon meetings — Sharon told Bush that Israel would not “push one way or another” regarding the Iraq scheme.

According to both sources, Sharon warned Bush that if he insisted on occupying Iraq, he should at least abandon his plan to implant democracy in this part of the world. “In terms of culture and tradition, the Arab world is not built for democratization,” Ayalon recalls Sharon advising.

Adolf Hitler was also democratically elected. We all know what happened after his election.
Mr Barack Hussein Obama I smell something very bad, please leave the oval office trough the
back door as soon as possible.

Hitler deceived his people to get elected too. Islam and this President hate America…easy to explain the destruction that is going on.

If Obama releases this murderer, it will be time for all freedom loving people everywhere to step forward and condemn this action. Why, when Egypt now calls for the destruction of Israel and denies it's friendship with the US, is this man being invited to the US as an honored guest? Obama seems to be continually spitting in the face of the American people. But, since we must wait for the Congress to act, urge your congressman to get going, Republican and Democrat, and demand a stop to such behavior. Congress holds the purse strings to American aid to Egypt, it is time for us to put our wallet back in our pocket.

Nothing in his life history, appointments, associations, policies, or high flying speeches say that 'Bam is anything other than a SEMI-CLOSETED COMMUNIST. His hatred of July 4, 1776 is so obvious it is insulting to anyone paying attention. Pandering to this breed of Muslim is his way of polking a finger in the eye of America.

  • WildJew

A devout (shariah-compliant) Muslim is coming to town. These are the people Obama has been courting. Morsi follows the Islam of the prophet Muhammad; authoritative, authentic Islam. Obama is furthering the most severe (and literalist) interpretation of Islam throughout the Middle East and North Africa. I cannot say I buy into this Islamist vs. Islam dichotomy. I am with those who say Islam is Islam. Speaking at Kanal D TV’s Arena program, Turkey's Prime Minister Erdoğan commented on the term “moderate Islam”, often used in the West to describe (his party) AKP and said, ‘These descriptions are very ugly, it is offensive and an insult to our religion. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam. Islam is Islam and that’s it.”

"Unsurprisingly, military and government officials in Israel were taken aback by the news, primarily because the move represented a breach of President Obama’s assurances to U.S. Jewish leaders at the White House last month"

And NOW it's TIME for Jewish voters to BREACH their"loyalties" to the Democratic Party.
NO SANE Jewish voter should vote for any Democrat, anywhere on the ticket.

Did you kmow that the first phone call to any foreign leader by Obama from the Oval Office in 2009 was to Mahmoud Abbas the head of the Palestinian Authority? I am wondering if this Islamist Mohammed Morsi will get a bow from Obama when he arrives at the White House?

Aiding and abetting the enemy is treason!

Islamists do not honor treaties unless it is a treaty (or contract) between two Islamists. They view non Muslims as less than human and therefore any treaty signed by a non Muslim according to Sharia is a worthless piece of paper. In many cases through out History, they have signed treaties as a way to regroup, rearm and resupply so they could then reingage their Infadel enemies. Morsi, since he has already stated his devotion to Sharia, will not honor the 1979 Peace Treaty with Israel for this reason. Same as when the Islamists ignored the Mandate for Palestine of 1922 which ignoring this agreement is how the Palestinians can claim the land of Israel. There are hundreds of examples of this throughout history, Liberals just refuse to see them.

It would not surprise me in the least if Obummer releases the blind cleric in a bid to curry favor with islamic savages. Obummer and his appeasement policies will get us into a war with the muslims, you mark my words.

We have an illegal alien terrorist as president!!!! The FBI, CIA, and all the rest of our so-called police force in this country has been nullified!!!! I guess it is up to those of us who refuse to give up our guns unless it is over our cold dead bodies!!!!

  • Ghostwriter

If President Obama was the moderate that his supporters CLAIM that he is,he'd rescind Morsi's invitation to the White House immediately. Otherwise, people will say that it's just one more questionable person that the president likes to hang around with.
