I recently received an e-mail alert from CAMERA that my alma mater, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government is hosting a two-day conference which essentially begins with the proposition that Israel has no right to exist. This isn’t surprising. After all, the Kennedy School is home to my old professor Steve Walt. No one there batted a lash when he co-published his updated version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion with University of Chicago’s John Mearshimer.

Not only did Walt suffer no recrimination from his colleagues at Harvard when he first emerged a professional Jew basher.  He suffered no recrimination when he used the controversy surrounding his book into a means of transforming himself into a celebrity Israel basher.

As I wrote in my recent column about mainstreaming Jew hatred, Walt and Mearshimer’s book has enabled anti-Semites to emerge from under the rocks where they had been hiding and proudly announce that it is reasonable to discriminate against the Jewish people and side either actively or passively with those like the Iranian regime and the Sunni jihadists from Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood who openly call for the annihilation of the Jewish state and the Jewish people.

Two thoughts on the Harvard conference.

Consider the long list of “professors” who will be speaking at the conference.

My sense is that the reason the Holocaust was more successful in killing Jews on a genocidal scale than say the Russian czars’ pogroms is because the Holocaust was fuelled from above – from elitist anti-Semitism and elitist xenophobia. It wasn’t the feudal lords who  organized the murder machine. Those lords just let their Cossacks murder couple hundred Jews to get their bloodlust satisfied for the year. Most of the surviving Jews were permitted to pack their suitcases and run away.

The Holocaust was different. It wasn’t the peasant class or their landed gentry lords that instigated the crime. And the Holocaust wasn’t perpetrated principally to satisfy their taste for Jewish blood.

In the decades before the Holocaust, an evil wind blew through academia and other elite quarters throughout the Western world. The doctrines of race and eugenics became all the rage of the anointed intellectuals. Even an otherwise liberal thinker like Oliver Wendell Holmes was drawn to the fashionable concept of killing mentally disabled in the name of eugenics.

These doctrines gave the German intellectuals the philosophical underpinning for their so-called “anti-Semitism.” That itself was a pseudo-scientific term for regular old Jew hating just like “anti-Zionism” is a progressive, politically correct term for regular old Jew hating today. That is, anti-Semitism was an elitist way of masking intolerance, even genocidal intolerance for Jews and making it socially acceptable to seek our annihilation.

And this is the precise function that the term anti-Zionism serves today.

The worker bees of Europe in the mid-20th century had been marinated in Christian Jew hatred for centuries. But they were mere commoners. They would never have made an Auschwitz or held a Wanssee Conference, but they were more than willing to fill Jewish babies with lead when given a chance. And the German intellectuals and their counterparts from Boston to Paris to London gave them the intellectual foundation of racism to kill Jews on a scale they could never have dreamed possible.

Likewise, today’s crop of corrupt intellectuals of the Walt and Mearshimer variety with all their allies in academia and the media and the blogosphere and politics are seeking to delegitimize Israel – the collective Jew — intellectually. Like the work of the eugenics champions of the late 19th and early 20th century, their work will provide Muslim Jew haters with the political leeway to murder Jews on a scale they could never have dreamed possible. Hence you’ll never find a so-called “anti-Zionist” like Walt lose sleep over the prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran, but rather over the prospect of Israel preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Your biggest friends in the Unites States are practicing Christians. Unfortunately, we are attacked by American Jews on a daily basis.

      • Robert

Sad but true but only by liberal Jews. Conservative Jews appreciate you.

      • asg

Certain Christians groups, but real Jews understand the support from Christians. The problem is there are fundementally two different kinds of Jews. There are practicing religious Jews, and then their Jews of ethnicity. Jews of ethnicity are similar to 5th generation Italian/Americans. They are only Jewish by lineage. There parents or grandparents or even great grandparents were religious Jews. Maybe at best they go to Temple on the High Holidays, and light a Minorah so they can give presents to each other, but that is the extent of their Judaisim. Those are the ones that tend to be Progressive/Liberal anti-Semities.

      • Touchstone

Gunner, you're generalizing about both Christians and Jews. There are Christians who support Israel, and those who don't, like Pat Buchanan. Likewise, there are Jews who are grateful for Christian support (like myself and many others), and those who reject it while dwelling on the sad history of Christian persecution of Jews. It isn't possible to generalize accurately about either Christians or Jews.

I stand with Israel. To borrow Shelley's words:

    Israel and her foundations are,
built below the tide of war.
    Based on the crystalline sea,
    Of thought and its eternity.

Anti-semitism is a social disease and a harbinger of our collective twilight.

    • evy

well re-said and well said, but beg to differ on one point. it is sin, not disease. and if not dealt with, yes, most certainly a harbinger of the oncoming darkness. collectively fatal, individually, it need not be so–for you, for me. Israel the nation does after all the darkness is past, have a glorious future. Read the BOOK. God said. (the Bible)
'for by faith, Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.'
Thanks Carolyn for your usual level headed insights.

  • Nakba1948

"Anti-Semitism, Anti-Semitism, Anti-Semitism, Anti-Semitism!!" You Zionuts use the term with such reckless abandon that it loses all meaning. Walt and Mearshimer's excellent treatise, "The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy" (referenced above), went out of its way not to implicate Jews as a group. It simply argues that Zionists in the US have a significant influence on the political discourse…hardly an "anti-Semitic" proposition. Don't you "patriotic Americans" care about what's in *America's* best interest? Oh, that's right, I forgot: you only care about the Apartheid State.

As to the Harvard conference on a one-state solution, the Palestinian people have waited long enough for this vaunted two-state solution to materialize. Alas, Zionist intransigence, hegemonic aspirations, and pathological denial of my people's human rights and self-determination have never allowed the so-called Road Map to progress beyond the proverbial checkpoint. So yes, it's time to talk about a single, democratic state of Palestine, where Jews, Muslims and Christians can coexist, and no single ethnic group is favored by or discriminated against by the state. You know, real democracy–what Israel isn't. And world Jewry will be safer for it. Inshallah, it will come to pass in the near future.

    • UCSPanther

Unfortunately for you, today's Jews are armed to the teeth.

Malcontents like you will suffer defeat as always.

    • Lillith

it's time to talk about a single, democratic state of Palestine, where Jews, Muslims and Christians can coexist, and no single ethnic group is favored by or discriminated against by the state.

I 'm sorry, this is a joke right??..

      • aspacia

Sure is considering the continual Muslim massacres of Copts because there are no Jews left, they were expelled years ago. When all nonMuslims are gone, they will massacre each other. Nothing like living in a Death Cult.

    • janine

A state where muslims, christians and jews coexist harmoniously and no ethnic group is is discriminated against exists already,it is the state of Israel.Try to find the same in any muslim country!!!!

    • Robert

Democratic Palestine is an oxymoron. It could only be totalitarian. And it will never happen. And there is no such thing as the nakba. Palestinians brought on their own grief by going to war in the first place, jerk.

      Nakba,

Your brethren should have absorbed you instead of using you as cannon fodder. Your suffering stems from Arab/Muslims using 5 armies to attack Israel. Israel had one, unarmed tank, was numerically outnumbered and outgunned, and Arab/Muslims still lost.

Suck it up–you lost and it is not Israel's fault your brethren refuse you citizenship, ban your from 70 professions, ban you from owning land, etc.

Any apartheid occurring stems from your intolerant brethren.

Muslims are the most intolerant people on the planet: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/06/24/988261/-

    • stern

"Anti-Semitism, Anti-Semitism etc." Yeah, right. You can read the list of "professors" appearing at this hate-fest and you can then honestly call us "Zionuts"? You know what that makes you, doesn't it?

And of course, you've never read any of the very reasoned refutations of Walt and Mearsheimer's "excellent treatise". That piece of garbage has been thoroughly debunked by some of the world's finest minds.

"Zionist intransigence, hegemonic aspirations, and pathological denial of my people's human rights and self-determination"

It must be so nice to have someone to blame for everything that ever goes wrong in your lives. It must be wonderful to have an excuse to murder innocent men, women and children in restaurants, on buses, at discotheques, even in their own homes. It must be terrific to know that no matter what you do, no matter how barbaric your practices, the world will always side with you because your opponents happen to be the Jews.

Why don't you try being a Syrian, or an Egyptian Copt, or a Kurd and complaining the way you do here? See how much sympathy you get from the world then.

As for your "dream" of a "one-state solution", we all know exactly what that means. Muslims cannot live in peace side by side with any other religions, unless they dominate completely. Well, sorry buddy, we're not dhimmis any longer.

    • FriendofGaryCooper

As you know, Ehud Barak offered Arafat 97% of the West Bank as land on which to build a Palestinian state; and Arafat TURNED HIM DOWN. Why? Was that an example of "Zionist intransigence?" I challenge you to give a coherent answer.

      • stern

Great point, FoGC. More examples of Israeli "intransigence": withdrawing every last Jew – even the dead ones – from Gaza; Olmert offering Abbas in 2008 even more than Barak offered Arafat; Netanyahu imposing the first ever freeze on construction in the West Bank; Netanyahu continually calling for peace talks, while Abbas refuses to come to the table; Israeli civilians having their throats slit in their homes …

There's just no end to the stubbornness of the Jews, is there?

    • ziontruth

And you harp on with "Zionist colonialism, Zionist colonialism, Zionist colonialism!" You're not the ones to talk about misuse of terms, Kakba.

      "…the Palestinian people…"

…are the Jews and none other. Arab settler-colonist land-thieves in Palestine are not a nation, nor is Palestine their homeland.

      "…my people's human rights and self-determination…"

…have more than their fill with about a score of states, most of them well beyond the Arabian Peninsula, the indigenous territory of the Arab nation. Usurping the one and only piece of land belonging to the one and only true Palestinian nation, the Jewish nation, is imperialist aggression.

"So yes, it's time to talk about a single, democratic state of Palestine, where Jews, Muslims and Christians can coexist,…"

ROTFL. ROTFLebanon, I'd say, only it's not funny in the slightest. As 20th-century history proves, the mixing of disparate groups that hate each other under one political roof is a recipe for a bloodbath.

No thank you. We Jews will have our one exclusive Jewish State from the river to the sea, and you Arabs will have to be content with what little (did I mention a score of states?) you possess.

"You know, real democracy–what Israel isn't."

Real democracy is mob rule. I want Israel as a Jewish Republic, safeguarding the Jewish people through political exclusivism. And in case you're wondering, I think all nations (all real nations, that is—not contrivances like the Phakestinian Phraud) have the same right.

"And world Jewry will be safer for it."

Ah, the niqab factory making veiled threats as usual.

"Inshallah, it will come to pass in the near future."

Inshallah, HaShem willing, the world will be free of the menace of Islamic imperialism in the near future.

    • evy

Your delusion deepens, Nakba. Do you ever think for yourself?

    • zionista

face it nakba – you're a loser. Israel is here to stay and will continue to be a thorn in the side of rabid Jew haters like you. As Gingrich boldly said, the palestinians are an invented people, The checkpoints are there to keep bloodthisty murderers from committing acts of terror towards innocent Jewish and sometimes Arab civilians. If there were no terrorism there's be no checkpoints.

    • asg

Nakba- One thing we can all agree on is that there are many states all around the Middle East that are run by Muslims. Can you name the one country in the Middle East where Muslims, Jews, Christians, Agnostic, and people of any other theologicl thought co-exist? The only one in existance is Israel. How many Jews are in the Syrian Government? 0. How many Jews in the Kuwaiti Government? 0. How many Jews in the Palestinian Government or Christians? 0 and 0. Yet Muslims serve in many capacities in Israel from the military all the way to the Knesset.

Your people celebrated the deaths of innocent Americans!!!!! Why should me or any American have sympathy for a people who want nothing more than to kill Jews and Americans? Why should we have ANY sympathy for a people who want to wipe BOTH Israel and the United States off the face of the Earth? Why don't you answer that question?

    • Pete

Nakba, an alliance with a Muslim nation is never in America's interest.

    • Nakba1948

There are so many falsehoods and ad hominem attacks in these responses, I don't even know where to begin. But a few points nonetheless: 1) I speak for myself and am not accountable for the actions of other Muslims, nor should I be judged by their actions (just as I would hardly judge all Jews based on the rotten apples who post at this site); 2) the Jewish people are in principle welcome to homeland…just not on my people's homeland. No one is talking about uprooting Israelis from their homes, however, should the Zionist state disappear–unlike what was done to my people in 1948; 3) while I would obviously prefer a single, multicultural state of Palestine to be democratic, anything at this point would be preferable to the Zionist oppression that Palestinians endure. Jews living in this state would ultimately have to contend with whatever society springs up around them. I don't wish the oppression on them they have visited upon us, but ultimately it's not their land on which to dictate terms; 4) as to those of you who propound the myth that Ehud Barak made an offer that Arafat "couldn't refuse," http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1113 ; 5) the idea of negotiating in good faith with an administration that continues to colonize our land (i.e., Netanyahu and gang) is at best farcical; 6) "DeShawn," if you think for a moment that you and I are on the same page, think again. I find your rank anti-Semitism and white supremacism disgusting, just as I deplore the base anti-Muslim/anti-Arab sentiments that appear so frequently on here from other posters. I reject Zionism because it usurps my people's self-determination and is a fundamentally racist ideology; your problem with Zionism is incidental to your hatred of Jews.

      • Touchstone

I commend you for rejecting the support of an obvious bigot. I don't see that happen very often. But you're still confused about history. What you call your homeland is also the ancient homeland of Jews, and the only place where a modern-day Jewish homeland would make any sense. King Faisal even welcomed Jews back a hundred years ago, but it wasn't long before Arab and Muslim rejectionism took over, leading to anti-Jewish pogroms in the 1920s and 1930s, Husseini's collaboration with Hitler, the invasion of newborn Israel by five Arab armies who sought the annihilation of every Jew (a popular idea in the 1940s), and continuing throughout the last several decades. It wasn't until the 1960s that you started calling yourselves "Palestinians", and it's been admitted by the PLO that the notion of Palestine was created as a means of destroying Israel. Moreover, many who call themselves Palestinian today actually have roots in neighboring countries like Jordan, Syria and Lebanon; their ancestors came to pre-Israel Palestine in search of financial opportunities provided by the thriving early Zionist economy. And while you propagate the idea of the nakba by your choice of moniker, remember that no Arab dislocation took place before all those countries decided to invade and exterminate Jews, effectively turning Arabs into a fifth column. No invasion, no nakba. And it wasn't a very successful nakba if some 20% of Israel consists of Arabs. Compare that to the far more successful ethnic cleanings of Jews conducted by the surrounding Arab nations. Look at the current Jewish populations of Arab countries and you'll see evidence of a genuine nakba. As for what Palestinians have had to endure, I deplore it too, but why don't you put any blame on those who seek to use your people as a means of harming Jews and destroying Israel? Namely, Iran and Syria who ensure that Hezbollah and Hamas, among others, continue to make Israelis feel threatened and take defensive measures that result in hardship for your people. No invasion, no nakba. No extremism, no hardship.

      • FriendofGaryCooper

Israel cannot be blamed for wanting to exercise some control over the roads in the Palestinian sections of the West Bank; reserving the right to regularly inspect shipments of goods that might be used to cause mischief in Israel. Look at what has happened in Gaza, where the Palestinians have had a contiguous border with Egypt, since 2005. How many thousands of weapons have been smuggled into Gaza, from Egypt, to be used against Israel? Have the Palestinians in Gaza indicated, in any way, that they want to live in peace with Israel? What was the first thing they did? They destroyed the greenhouses that were purchased by American Jews, and left for them, so they could raise crops and increase their food supply. You say, "Jews living in this state would have to contend with whatever society springs up around them." Jews contended with societies around them for over a thousand years in Europe; and in Muslim countries in the Middle East, and put up with the constant pogroms and other forms of discrimination.
Jews cannot and should not be expected to do that again. And to give up the Jordan valley would be suicide for Israel; as this strategic area is necessary to defend the country.

      • ziontruth

"just as I would hardly judge all Jews based on the rotten apples who post at this site"

        The heck you don't.

"the Jewish people are in principle welcome to homeland…just not on my people's homeland."

The Arab people's only rightful homeland is the Arabian Peninsula. Anything beyond that is an extra. That means, in effect, that you're already well over your due.

The Jewish people's only homeland is the Land of Israel, a.k.a. Palestine. Putting any restrictions of the Jewish people's inhabitation and political sovereignty of their homeland is injustice and imperialist aggression.

"No one is talking about uprooting Israelis from their homes,…"

        Ever heard of Hamas?

"Jews living in this state would ultimately have to contend with whatever society springs up around them."

Nope. 2000 years of that were quite enough. We'll secure ourselves through the force of exclusive political rights, no matter what any other nation, or international "law," says.

"…but ultimately it's not their land on which to dictate terms"

Back you go to Arabia, settler-colonist land-thief! Palestine for the Palestinians, meaning the Jews, the only true Palestinians! Free Palestine from illegal Arab colonial occupation!

By calling Israel apartheid you do a serious injustice to the people of South Africa who suffered under a true apartheid government.

The only reason there has not been a two state solution is that the Muslims have constantly violated every agreement that would establish one.

A single state, run by Muslims, will, as it has everywhere else, discriminate against Jews, Christians, and any other faith.

  • alanweberman

Jews are not going to be a minority in their homeland. But what boggles my mind is how many Jews are going to a part of this thing. Does the Black community have this many traitors in its midst? No way. Jews are conflicted as they picked up a lot of diverse genes when they were scattered throughout the world. Some of these genes conflict with one another and you get the Caspar Weinbergers etc or Kasbah Weinbergers etc.

    • Maxie

Read the history of Polish Jewry and you'll see confirmation of your 'diverse genes' speculation. There was a large migration of so-called Khazar Jews into Ukraine and Poland (around 1700?) These were the Hasidic 'Ostjuden' ethnically distinct in some ways from Western Jews. If you're interested read "A History of East European Jews" by Heiko Haumann. She's descended from this faction and its a fascinating bit of history about which little has been said.

Bu this is the problem is it not? These same desires to determine your fate runs in their veins. I don't understand it. It is obvious to me and I'm not Jewish. I’m speaking of the same determination that ran in the so called Christians of Europe in the 1930’s.
What runs in the Arab world is foretold in Genesis 16. Speaking of Ishmael; the father of the Arabs: “And he shall be as a wild ass among men; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell over against all his brethren.

The warning of Genesis 12:3 is steadily coming to pass before our eyes except that few people notice it. Every nation that has joined against Israel is experiencing increasing trouble. Europe is in obvious trouble. An America lead by Obama is in serious trouble and unfortunately many good people here will suffer because Obama is endangering Israel.

Where do women enjoy equal rights with men? Where can christians, Jews, muslims, atheists practice their religion or not without interference from the state? Where can all pursue a great education and enter middle class professions? Where do arabs and Jews sit on the country's highest court? If you answered Israel to all of these questions you are correct. The response of a resounding No would have been the accurate one for any other country in the middle east.

  • Brujo Blanco

The Jews make good targets for leftists. I suspect that leftist Jews feel that they are the good Jews and they have nothing to worry about. They are wrong. The leftists and their Islamist friends will take care of that.

nakba 1948 how ca you tlak of "democracy" when in all the Arab and non Arab, non Muslims are second class citizens. Look at the Copts in Egypt, the Christans in Pakistan
in the islamic world non Muslims are seocnd class citizens.

The Zionist Jews are very smart; I have to hand it to them. What other country would allow its representatives to be bought out, and who, would in turn take the tax payers' money, give it to a tiny foreign country, and then have that tiny foreign country give a lot of that money back to those legislators so that they could use it to get reelected. After that, they take next year’s tax money and, again, send it to that tiny foreign country, and the process begins all over again. In some circles that would at the very least be called a conflict of interest and the tail wagging the dog, and in my opinion, it is treason.
So you Zionists want to say such thoughts make me an anti-Semite. If the same thing were happening with, say Hammas or the Muslim Brotherhood getting all this money and then controlling US foreign policy, you guys would be screaming out about it, and so would I.

No, I'm not an anti-Semite, I'm a Christian and an American patriot. I would oppose any country, entity, individuals, or organizations who would have the audacity to undermine my country's foreign policy for their own selfish interests. If it were Muslims or Arabs doing this, you bet I'd be just as angry. Oh, and let's get the terminology right: a Semite refers to both Arabs and Jews. You Zionists are such thieves; not only do you steal land that your ancestors vacated millennia ago, but you even steal shared terminology to make it only refer to yourselves.

The REAL Jews, not so-called Zionist Jews, are the orthodox and ultra orthodox Jews. At least they believe in their religion and try their best to follow the Jewish religious law. Most of you Zionists are atheists but you dupe Christians into believing that G'd is helping you to reestablish historical Israel. G'd doesn't need anyone to reestablish Israel into a modern state. He is perfectly capable of doing it on his own. In fact, if you keep using the name of G'd to rubber stamp your little Zionist state, I think he will eventually deal with you very harshly. Maybe he'll even stand back and let Achmed-wack-job do it for him.

    • stern

"The real Jews" you refer to make up significantly less than 1% of the entire Jewish population and are generally considered to be nutbars by the rest of us.

In fact, there's a very easy test that will tell you who is a real Jew. One of the principal tenets of Judaism is "Ahavat Yisroel" – which translates into "love of your fellow Jew". Considering the fact that some of your "real Jews" have been excommunicated for consorting with the enemy (Iran) and seeking to destroy the other 99.99% of Jews, it's kinda hard to consider them Jews at all.

Sorry to burst your bubble. And claiming that you're not an anti-Semite does not give you free licence to then go on an anti-Semitic rant, even if you do try to disguise it as "anti-Zionist". Because you know what? Anti-Zionism quite simply IS ant-Semitism.

      • trickyblain

        "Anti-Zionism quite simply IS ant-Semitism."

No, it's not. One is a people, one is political philosophy. Hating the Nazi party is a far cry from hating any individual with Germanic blood. Hating Pol Pot does not equate to hating Jeremy Lin. Abhorring Idi Amin's policies does not make one anti-black, and so on.

Not that Zionists are in the same league as any of the above, but the "anti-semitism" card often seems like a cheap and lazy way out of any criticizm.

        • stern

Actually, it IS! What may have started off as opposition to the policies of Israel has become opposition to the fact of Israel. Consider how many Christian and Islamic countries there are, then ask yourself why the Jews alone, of all peoples in the world, are not allowed to have their own state.

          That's what makes anti-Zionism pure anti-Semitism.

          • stern

Oh, and one more thing. Read Thor's rant. Read his ridiculous assertion that because Arabs are also semites, and how the "Zionists" (can you possibly read anything but JEWS here????) stole the terminology. For heaven's sake, everyone knows that the term was created specifically to describe Jew-hatred.

Having read this, how can you have any doubts that this person is a Jew hater?

          • trickyblain

I'm really talking about folks who critique Zionist thought and the policies that Zionists champion. I would never say that there are not Jew haters — there are many (for reasons I've never come close to understanding).

Likewise, nor am I talking about those who question the very existence of Israel — I think it's fair to throw them into the "Anti-Semite" camp.

          • stern

Trouble is, people like Thor hide their Jew hatred in so-called "anti-Zionism" – and people like you fall for it.

          Zion:
Psalm 87:2-3 says, “The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are said of you, O city of God.” Occurring over 150 times in the Bible, the word “Zion” essentially means “fortification.”

          In Christianity:
Peter refers to Christ as the Cornerstone of Zion: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame” (1 Peter 2:6).

People that love God are going to LOVE Zion, whether YOU like it or not.
End of ages are here and you are with the devil
          Good luck with that!

Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD appeared to him (Israel) from afar saying, I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness. Again I will build you and you will be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines and go forth to the dances of the merrymakers…verse 28–God is watching over Israel to build and to plant. verses 36–38 God will never abandon Israel. If you, Thor, are a Christian, you should love what God loves. God is completely good, and He loves what is good, and He loves each individual because of each person's potential for goodness if they seek Him.. Ask Him to give you His feelings for Israel. Ask Him to help you see the realities of the situation as He sees them. Ask Him to show you which sources of information are accurate, and study carefully. Israel is the best hope for peace in the Middle East, because Israel supports true individual rights and responsibilities. Those rights are based on the infinite value God places on those created in His image. Human beings are equal because they are created equal before God. Israel loves human life, and it is right to love life. Israel supports peace through strength, and that is the central principle for maintaining peace anywhere. Their opponents in the region do not want peace, but rather want dominance. When one party wants dominance and the other wants peace, the one wanting peace has to be strong. It is right to be strong on behalf of peaceful survival.

You would've loved William Potter Gale. He was Jewish, his father fled Russia at the beginning of the 20th century to escape antisemitic persecution, but yet what did he do?

He betrayed his Jewish heritage and ran with the white supremicist/neo-nazi crowd, and even became a leader in those losers' ranks until his death in the late '80s.

The irony was that they would've killed him too, if their mansonesque fantasies came true.

" I am thankful that these pseudo intellectuals no longer can determine the future of my people, as they could in the 1930s."

Unfortunately (and as Caroline is well aware), these pseudo-intellectuals *do* drive the future of your (our) people because they maintain their influence in the public sphere – in the universities, the media, and the courts. As a result, the terms of debate continue to shift leftward. "Right-wing" Netanyahu's position on the Palestinians is little different from that held by Peace Now in the 1970s. What he's offered Abbas goes far beyond what Clinton's "haver" (friend) and peace partner Rabin would have considered "red lines". But that's not enough for these pseudo-intellectuals who insist "this shows he's not interested in peace".

    • Neaten

Well it is official Raymond is just dum, i wish I can take back every breath you took.. Such a waste you are dead wrong. No one should do anything about the 1930s and by the way they are coming back it is a free country how are you to tell a professor what to right it is his field the university that is mentioned have nothing to be sorry for. And the 1930 writings, attitudes, intellectuals are making a come back do you know why, because you messed things up bad. The lies the exaggeration of the halacust I cant seem to talk to Jew with out hearing the word at least 100 time we are sick of it and people are catching up to isreal taking advantage of our resources and money and are working to make a change.

  • clarespark

American universities in the 1930s were not noted for their opposition to Hitler or to antisemitism. Social psychologists affiliated with Harvard went so far as to suggest that Hitler was the carrier of Jewish blood, a taint that would explain how he put one over on the leaders of the world. I wrote in detail about that cohort here: http://clarespark.com/2009/12/13/klara-hitlers-so…. Note the importance of Klara Hitler in their "pschoanalytic" explanations.

  • W. C. Taqiyya

Excellent commentary Caroline. I'm gratified to see you mention the prevalence of anti-semitic thinking in the west prior to the Holocaust. Hitler was not exactly swimming against the stream of political thought at that time. This was evidenced, among other things, by the refusal of most countries to accept Jewish refugees from Germany. Unless you were Einstein or had influential friends, you were kinda stuck. No, hating Jews has been popular for a long time and, as you say, it is on the rise again. I guess the most disgusting and curious element of antisemitism for me is the very large number of self-hating Jews who support the prospect of another holocaust. Sure, they don't say 'kill the Jews' in so many words, but their fatal attraction to leftist and/or Islamic totalitarianism says it all. Or, maybe they forgot that Stalin and Mohamed loved dead Jews just as much as Hitler did.

    • burkasrugly

It is absolutely mind-blowing to think that some Jews hate themselves so much that they are for another Holocaust. The Jews don't need enemies when their own people are this nutty. Oh, well. They are modeling themselves after that scumbag, George Soros who betrayed his own people during the first Holocaust.

I have said it before and I will say it again. The L-rd Most High is here on the earth. Right now, He is here on the earth.

It would seem that many do not comprehend the great danger of this. But they had better wake up and smell the coffee because He is not at all pleased.

The L-rd will re-build Israel. He is faithful and always keeps His word. And the dogs of darkness He will stirke down. The death toll will be enormous.
It is time to return to the L-rd and leave off of any evil way. He will protect those who return, from His anger.

This is not some far away day in the future. If is very soon and very near. Beware.

I never have understood why people hate Jews. I almost vomited when I saw on a gravestone that my great-grandparents had German names. However, I get even more ill when I see self-hating Jews go to Holocaust-denial conferences, or suck up to Islamic imams. If any of these self-hating Jews are reading this, I just want to tell you to quit kissing the ring of those who despise and hate you because you are making complete fools of yourselves. Also, when the loony liberal professors (who do not even live in the real world) and the Muslim imams are through using you for their ends, then they will throw you under the bus.

Nutbar1948 and his "people" don't have a homeland, because his "people" aren't an historical people. He's been fed the lie in his mother's milk, but that's his problem. His is an invented "people" whose cultural uniqueness and historical presence is NIL, the existence of books published in politically-correct imbecilic academia claiming otherwise notwithstanding.

Jews in Israel are in their historical homeland, are not planning to leave, and its just too bad for Nutbar1948 that he has been fed with a sewage pipe of lies all his life. An Arab he is, a "palestinian" he is not. Solly chollie.

All this hot air from him is tedious, and it doesn't matter anyway. We've struggled against MUCH more powerful enemies than him, and won.

Here's a fun fact for anyone amused by Nutbar1948. There has thus far been precisely 1 (i.e, ONE!!!) Muslim Nobel Laureate in Physics in history, with a world population of more than 1.2 billion Muslims. In contrast, there have been 47 Jewish Nobel Laureates in Physics with a world population of 14 million Jews.

If you work out the simple proportionality, you will see that, assuming Muslims were equally productive as Jews, the fact that 14 million Jews have produced 47 Nobel Laureates in Physics implies that 1.2 Billion Muslims should have produced approximately 4030 Nobel Laureates in Physics. BUT THEY HAVE ONLY PRODUCED ONE. O – N – E.

Harvard is a highly overrated and overpriced artsy-fartsy finishing school for those with enough money to pay the outrageous tuition. There are too many overpaid leftists on the faculty whose publications are trash, and who use the classroom as a forum for indoctrination and not as a platform to cultivate the intellect, The result are the student indoctrinates siding with Palestinian savages who strap munitions on their own women and children and send them out on homicide-suicide missions to murder other innocent Jewish women and children in markets, restuarants, on school buses, and in their homes. The Palestinians in their own words and by their actions are committed to the genocide of the Jewish people and the destruction of Israel. To see the most privileged of Amercan academia and students sideing with the Palestinians is sickening.

Why is it OK for the Jews to have a "Jewsih State", and be all ethnocentric and proud of being Jews — but for anyone descended from northwestern european countries it's "racist" to express ethnic pride or advocate for an exclusive ethnic homeland?

Why is that AIPAC Jew people?

    • Touchstone

What "exclusive ethnic homeland" are you referring to? Are you saying you wish that America was exclusively white? Are you saying that England is just for the English? Who are you talking about?

Regardless of whatever specific country or countries you're referring to, it's not "ethnocentric pride" that compels Jews to stick up for Israel, in my opinion. It's that a Jewish-majority state is vital for the preservation of Jews in a world which seeks to annihilate them. It was created as a refuge for the world's longest-persecuted people, not for reasons of chest-thumping "pride". It's about SURVIVAL in a world that relentlessly seeks the demonization and destruction of Jewry.

What "northwestern European" peoples have been the victims of persecution and massacres for the last two thousand years? What stateless, downtrodden northwestern Europeans are you referring to? For which northwestern European race is an exclusive state a matter of mortal necessity? What moronic analogy are you clumsily trying to draw here, anyway?

    • ziontruth

"…but for anyone descended from northwestern european countries it's 'racist' to express ethnic pride or advocate for an exclusive ethnic homeland?"

Speaking for myself, I have no problem with that. As I said time and again, a nation-exclusivist state is any nation's right.

Your problem is with Marxism. Marxism isn't Jewish, even if a lot of Jews have been duped by it.

"Why is that AIPAC Jew people?"

But don't think I'm protesting my innocence to you. If you don't change your mind on blaming the Jews for your nation's predicament, I'm going to put you in the same Jew-hating box as Kabka1948, Crackerjack, Thor, DeSchutzstaffel and the rest.

The author accuses Mearsheimer and Walt of anti-semitism, but I don't see what can be more antisemitic than her implication that Israel and Israeli Nationalists cannot withstand scrutiny and open criticism of their behaviors in the light of day. Isn't it antisemitic to believe that the Israeli Nationalist position is so inherently weak that an open cataloging of its tactics would cause it to crumble and wither to ash? Isn't that an open admission that the Emperor has no clothes? Is the Zionist so inherently narcissistic and weak that a statement by Zbigniew Brzezinski that if Israel attacks Iran is must go it alone so damaging an utterance that the magic spell of US-Israeli solidarism evaporates and Jews turn instantly to bones? That makes Sea Monkeys look hardy by comparison.
