The Liberal Anti-Semitic Projection Syndrome

I read a blog post by Jonathan Tobin from Commentary today where I discovered that the post-Zionist poster boy of the American Jewish left Peter Beinart is now accusing Israel’s non-Jewish supporters of being anti-Semites.
Beinart you see, thinks that an anti-Semite is someone who criticizes anti-Zionist (or post-Zionist, or fair-weathered Zionist) American Jews for hanging Israel out to dry.
So if a non-Jew criticizes, say Peter Beinart for spewing nonsense about how Israel’s rejection of Beinart’s positions on territorial surrender legitimizes anti-Israel sentiment, then that person is an anti-Semite.
Beinart, after all, criticizes Israel as a Jew so since he does it as a Jew, attacking him for making ridiculous accusations against Israel makes you an anti-Semite.
There is a wider context for Beinart’s position. Beinart has closely associated himself with J Street, the pro-Palestinian lobbying group run by American Jews. During the last election cycle, J-Street targeted Israel’s staunchest supporters in Congress for defeat. Specifically it targeted Joe Walsh and Allen West, (both ran in gerrymandered districts), because they refused to support the establishment of another Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria, (to the side of the Palestinian state in Gaza which the Left likes to pretend doesn’t exist).
J-Street claimed that West and Walsh — among Israel’s firmest supporters on the Hill — were anti-Israel because they rejected the establishment of another Palestinian terror state in the historic and strategic heartland of the Jewish state.
Beinart’s attacks on Rupert Murdoch and others who criticize Jews who attack Israel have to be seen as a continuation of the J Street campaign against Israel’s supporters in Washington.
Jonathan provided the following quote from Beinart’s assault on Murdoch:
I don’t think anti-Semitism is widespread on the American right, any more than it is widespread on the American left. But when expressed, it should be publicly condemned. Whether it masks itself as hostility to Israel or support for Israel should make no difference at all.

You see what he is doing here.

He is saying that there is no difference between those who support Israel and decry its critics and those who oppose Israel and decry its supporters.
This post-modern moral equivalence is absolutely necessary. If you want to make a completely false argument sound reasonable, the first thing you have to do is erase all distinction between good and evil. (See the film clips in my last blog post.)
We need to be aware of what Beinart and his allies are doing. In the coming months and years, we should expect more and more of Israel’s supporters to be attacked as anti-Semites by leftist American Jews. The intention of people like Beinart and J Street is to demonize and discredit Israel’s supporters just as Israel itself is being demonized and discredited.
In the face of this new initiative it is imperative that we continue to point out the real distinctions.
And just by way of example, here is Glenn Beck’s recent message to the people of Israel. Remember, Beck was repeatedly and viciously targeted by leftist American Jews who called him a racist for pointing out that George Soros admitted to collaborating with the Nazis during the Holocaust.
G-d bless Glenn Beck:

The fact of the matter is that Jewish leftists are no different than the rest of the anti-semitic crew, whose obsessive Israel/Jew bashing has reached epidemic proportions. And if Petey boy believes that he will escape the charge/label of anti-semitic, then he is truly a captive of his own leftist delusions.

Leftist dogma is the same world over –

And Jewish delusions are incontestable and incalculable, ensnaring the so called 'Rabbis' too -

To top it all off, leftism is lethal –

    Case closed.

Peter Beinart and his followers need to be institutionalized–hospitalized; else they might realize their goals, with the unwitting cooperation of Israel's leaders.

Jew Hate is very widespread all over the American left, European left, Canadian left, Latino left, etc..

Just take a peak at Nobody talks about this station and web site dripping in Jew hate and anti Americanism on almost every page.

Peter Beinart is the poster boy of the gross American Jewish left an there are many of Beinarts ( Especially the ones with German names!).

Ultimately, Jews including Beinart and Tomaz Friedman etc., will realize before it is too late that only in Israel are they safe.

The one thing that binds them. In Belgium, far "left" and far "right" groups met in common cause. The common cause of course, Jew hatred. Their slogan, though I'm loath to repeat it and you've probably heard it: "Hamas Hamas, Jews to the gas"!

Maybe it's time to stop playing nice!

  • Gamaliel

I noticed that the left defends itself by accusing the right of what the left is guilty of. This happened a lot during Obama's campaign and that's what Peter Beinart is doing. He is an anti-semite he's accused of being an anti-semite so he accuses his accusers of being anti-semitic and then conjures up some warped rationalization for it.

Lets see; I'm morally opposed to partial birth abortions, so that makes me anti-woman. I disagree with obama's marxist objectives, so I am a racist. I find sodomizing little boys morally abhorrent, so I am homophobic. I support free enterprise and private property rights, so I am a supporter of greedy fat cats. I love the constitution and its embodied moral truths, so I am an angry white guy. I guess it logically follows that if I should love and support Israel, I am a Jew hater as well. Only in this upside down 21st century world could such convoluted logic not only survive, but thrive.

Welcome to the Twisted World of Identity Politics.

      • PaulRevereNow

It will take an event of epic proportions–a cataclysm–for people to forget their identity grievances; the casualties will be very high. I hope I'm wrong.

We should pay less attention to the Beinarts and more attention to supporting practical solutions that will get the public thinking. Our corrupt Jewish leaders are to blame for still supporting Oslo and the insane 'two state solution'. This gives Beinart and his ilk an exploitable issue.
Why not make the logical and humane case for the 'Jordan is Palestine' solution? Logic, history, international law and common sense can support this case. The problem is the secular, defeatist, cowardly mentality of our spiritually corrupt Jewish leaders. Right now we face Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and Jordan which is now falling under Muslim Brotherhood influence. The Arabs in Gaza and the West Bank need to be transferred to Jordan for their own good as well as for Israeli security. That is cheaper than endless war and offers a humane, permanent, solution.

Astute of Caroline to recognize Beinart's self-loathing projection of Jew hatred.
Many on the left do the same thing when they are in the process of smearing or lying about their opposition.
The lies they utter almost invariably are a projection of their own behavior and motives.

That could also speak to people like Schlomotion and his depraved ilk. I hope that freak is gone from here for a long, long time.

    • Mary Sue

Even Schlocomotion is too stupid to realize this.

Some American Jews are far more left than they are Jewish.

  • bkopicz

Unfortunately it has gotten to the point that when someone starts their statement concerning the Middle East with "As a Jew" or "As someone of Jewish heritage" I hold my breath and wait for what comes next. The montra use to be "Be a Jew in the home and a man on the street" has been replaced by " "Be a man the home and a Jew on the street" = JINO

  • cjk

The truth is that truth is truth regardless of who speaks it. The idea that just because one is a Jew or Black or White or whatever holds more weight concerning any truth spoken is nonsense and the degree to which any society or group reveres that nonsensical notion is a reflection as to the degree of self deception within that group.
Just more lies and half lies to muddy the truth.
In a just and free society, when truth is spoken it makes ABSOLUTELY no difference who spoke it as concerns it's truthfulness. It's no surprise to me that a society so immersed in the evil of political correctness would spawn wicked deceivers like this Beinart POS.

  • ganymede

Gee, I guess I'm an anti-semitic Jew because I think the current extremist Israeli government is on a dead-end course. Of course, the wonderful Christiam Fundamentalist love the Jews because in their worldview the Jews and Israel are the precursors to a completely nutty second coming of Christ_scenario where a small number of Christians will be saved and take a few Jews who are willing to convert along with them. The reality is that Israel and their rapidly modernizing Arab neighbors are eventually going to have to make peace, and all of Israel, the West Bank and Gaza will be one country with protection for all. 'Greater' Israel has everything that the Arab world needs

    (ganymede) cont'd…….
education, technology, democracy, culture and great business acumen. This enlarged country will become the true Mecca of the Middle East. Every person with a functioning brain and intact morality knows that Jews and Muslims can live in harmony. Only the Christian, Jewish and Muslim theocrats are against this, and, as you've noticed the American theocrats went down to a resounding defeat early this month, and the Jewish theocrats currently controlling Israel are probably on their way out, if they don't blow up the world before they leave, and the Muslim theocrats, especially in Suadi Arabia are there, unfortunately, until the demand for oil abates. I am a very proud Jew who will do anything to defend our great eternal culture. We've been allowed to survive all these eons because we do have something special to offer, and it isn't what Israel is currently offering.

Your schlock actually sounds like you live on Ganymede.

  • theleastthreat

There are a number of things wrong with ganymede's post. Unsupported assumptions, the all too typical lib dismissal of opposing lines of thoughy as the product of lesser minds, and the mischaracterization of present day Israel and its supporters. It wasn't that long ago that Jews were rounded up by a modern, industrialized country ini the heart of a modern, industrialized continent and mudered by the millions. Even today, arguments exist within and outside the Muslim world that none of that ever occured. Jews are even protrayed as descendants of monkeys and pigs. On Yahoo comment boards, among others, libs and others actually praise Hitler and portray Jews and Israelis as Fascists, ZioNazis, racists, babykillers, murderers, and as bent on world domination. If his/her assertion that the debate on what ought to be done is over, then it is elitist and anti-intellectual. Don't waste your time replying to his or her post.
